Cassie's POV

Everything hurts, that's my first thought as consciousness drags me up from the darkness. My body aches like I've been hit by a truck. My head throbs, and my throat is dry.

But something's different.

The pain in my chest, the constant, crushing ache that's been there for weeks, is gone. It's not eased or manageable, but totally gone.

My eyes flutter open. The ceiling above me is unfamiliar, wooden beams, soft glowing lights that don't look like any lamp I've ever seen.
