For the past two months, Xasha and Megan had been living in the imperial courtyard. The courtyard was not a palace, far from it actually. It was just a collection of what amounts to a few hundred mansions. The king's mansion was not even the biggest among those in the courtyard. There were energy chambers, labs, workshops, training arenas, hospitals, parks, a warehouse district, etc.

Mages used them as alarm systems in ancient times. Xasha and his team studied their vocal cords and ear canals. After a while, they created a magic circlethat did the same thing. However, the magic device was not a copy of the EckoBat, Xasha gave it a few extra features.
