The next day, the news broke: one of Lillian’s children had been shot.

The moment Wilson heard it, he jumped to his feet and rushed to get dressed, panic written all over his face.

“I’m going with you,” Emily said suddenly, rising from the couch to follow him.

Wilson paused, surprised. For days now, Emily had been distant—silent, withdrawn, avoiding any interaction. If she was offering to go with him now, it could only mean one thing: she wanted to cause trouble.

“Just stay back, Emily. I can go on my own,” Wilson said firmly.

“Oh, I see… because you want to talk to Lillian in secret, right?” she snapped, her tone laced with jealousy.

“Emily, I’m not going there for Lillian,” Wilson said, trying to keep his calm. “I’m going because my child was shot.”

“And who cares?” Emily scoffed. “I’m still going with you—and that’s final. Meet me in the car.”

With that, she turned and stormed out, leaving Wilson standing there, jaw clenched in frustration.

The next morning, Olive woke up before sunrise. The small house was quiet except for the faint ticking of the old wall clock and the soft sound of her father’s breathing from the next room. She slipped out of bed, tied her hair back, and headed straight to the kitchen. She started cooking breakfast. While Olive worked in the kitchen, Abigail was already awake, moving around the house with a broom and a cleaning rag.Soon, the three of them sat around the small dining table and ate breakfast together. Their father barely spoke, his face pale but calm. Olive watched him closely, making sure he finished his food. Afterward, she carefully handed him his medicine, waiting until she was certain he had swallowed every pill.“Go and rest, Dad,” Olive said gently.Their father nodded as Olive help him to his room. Olive waited until she heard him lie down before finally letting out a quiet sigh of relief.“Let’s take a walk,” Olive said to Abigail.Outside, the morning breeze was cool, and the

Olive’s P.O.VI knocked gently on the door, my heart pounding with excitement. After a moment, it opened.“Sis?” Abigail called out, staring at me as if she wasn’t sure I was real. Before I could even speak, she screamed my name and jumped on me. We nearly fell over as she wrapped her arms tightly around me.“I miss you! I miss you! I miss you so much, sis!” she said rapidly, sounding like she was trying to turn her words into a song.Laughing, I gently pulled myself free before she completely crushed me.“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming today?” she asked, placing her hands on her waist.“Then it wouldn’t be a surprise,” I replied with a grin.“Aww, I really missed you,” she said again, grabbing my hand and dragging me inside the house. The moment I stepped in, my eyes landed on my dad.He was sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper, his glasses perched low on his nose.“Dad!” I called out happily and rushed over to him.“Olive,” he said softly, his face lighting up.“Yes, Da

The next day, Wilson arrived at work as usual. As he walked toward his office, his eyes instinctively searched for Tessa at her desk. She wasn’t there. He frowned.“Where’s Tessa?” he asked one of the staff members.“She hasn’t come in yet, sir,” the woman replied.Wilson froze. In all the years Tessa had worked with him, she had never once come in late. Never. Something felt wrong. He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed her number. No connection. His unease deepened.“Tell her to see me immediately when she arrives,” Wilson said, forcing calm into his voice as he walked into his office.Inside, he took off his jacket, hung it over the chair, and sat down. He tried to focus on the files in front of him, but his mind kept drifting back to Tessa.Minutes later, the door burst open. Two employees rushed in, both trembling.“How dare you barge into my office!” Wilson shouted. “Have you all lost your minds?”“We’re sorry, sir,” one of them said shakily. “It’s about Tessa.”Wilson’s hea

Tessa stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few items after returning from work. Once she had everything she needed, she stepped outside and began the short walk home. Her house wasn’t far, so she didn’t bother calling a cab. With two heavy bags in her hands and a headset over her ears, soft music played as she walked down the quiet street. When she reached her block, she noticed a car parked in front of her house. From a distance, it didn’t look familiar. She slowed to a stop.A cold chill ran down her spine. Every instinct screamed that something was wrong, but she brushed it off, telling herself she was just overthinking things. Steeling herself, she continued walking.Moments later, she reached her gate and reached for the lock.Suddenly, a strong arm wrapped around her waist. Before she could scream, a hand clamped over her mouth, muffling the sound. She struggled, but she was dragged toward the car. The door flew open, and within seconds, she was shoved inside. The engine ro

Sebastian and Lillian were preparing to go out that morning when Sebastian’s phone rang.“Hello?” he answered.“What?” he shouted suddenly. “What do you mean she’s dead?” His voice rose as he turned to look at Lillian, who was now staring at him in fear.“What happened, Seb?” Lillian asked, her voice trembling.“It’s Mia,” Sebastian said.“What happened to her?” Lillian asked again.“The police said they found her dead this morning,” Sebastian replied.“What? How… how is that possible?” Lillian whispered.“I don’t know, but we need to go to the police station right away,” Sebastian said.“Okay, let’s go,” Lillian said, immediately grabbing Sebastian’s hand as they rushed outside.A few minutes later, they arrived at the police station and were led straight to the cell where Mia had been kept.“No… this can’t be possible,” Lillian said, her knees nearly giving way.“How did this happen?” Sebastian demanded.“We don’t know yet, which is what makes it strange. This is the first time some

Inside the police station, deep within the cold, echoing hallway, Mia sat on a metal chair inside a small interrogation cell. Her hands trembled on her lap as two police officers stood in front of her, their expressions hard and unforgiving.“Then why did you try to poison your boss if no one sent you?” one of the officers asked, his voice sharp, filling the silent room.“I… I just did it…” Mia stammered, her voice barely louder than a whisper. She wanted to tell them the truth. She wanted to say Emily’s name, to expose everything. But she knew it would change nothing. She had no proof—no messages, no recordings, no witnesses. It would be her word against Emily’s, and Emily was smart, influential, and cruel. No one would believe the maid over her. No one would save her.“I can tell you’re lying,” the officer said coldly. Before she could react, his hand came down hard across her face, the slap echoing in the small room. Mia gasped, holding her cheek, fresh tears spilling down instantl
