As she slumped on the bus seat heading back home, her mind drifted away to a million thoughts. The Black city was home to her but because of school she had to leave, this was not how she pictured coming home when she left for school. She had dreamt of coming home with her gown and her hard-earned degree back at home, not broke and a dropout like her mother, things had turned so fast for her, she hadn’t even had time to tell her mother she was coming back.

“Perhaps she went on one of her trips with her boyfriends” she hoped, she knew she did not even care she was also angry at her and was not looking forward to seeing her. It has been a few months since her being away from home and a lot of things had changed, she looked around wondering when everything in the city had begun looking so different.

After long hours of travelling she arrived home exhausted, unfortunately for her, her mother was in the house and received her with a warm welcome and a big hug.
