Chapter thirty-six

I walked from the packhouse leaving Liliana, I tossed the book in my hand and walked back to the apartment hoping that Hannah would be around. I was exhausted when I ran the last of it up every family closed in their houses and walked to the cabin where Hannah had been given. I knocked on the door and she came and opened it, I sighed, her eyes drifting to the book in my hand.

"Don't ask me any questions." I quickly motioned for her to keep her mouth shut.

Even if I tried to act strong I was breaking inside, I needed some time to heal and that was a whole lot of sleep.

The following day I woke up to Hannah calling my name, in her softest voice and I became alert wondering if ever she was the one calling me. She had no distinction between morning and other hours of the day, she usually screams at top of her voice like a sperm whale.
