Chapter Four

Alpha Calvin, paced around his room again. he'd been doing that alot since his mate got kidnapped. he was meant to be happy now that she was found, but he felt uneasy. what did his dirtbag of a brother do to her? why couldn't she remember him? he was about to go to the beta's domain to meet his brother because the omega wolf he sent to him never came back. but before he could do that, he already heard the news of Alexis, his mate's return.

his emotions were all over the place when he saw her. he was shocked because he didn't expect her to return so fast and he was overjoyed to be finally reunited with the love of his life.

but she couldn't remember him. she couldn't remember anything and it scared him.

how could she faint at the sight of wolves? wasn't she a wolf? she had him worried sick when she fainted. he immediately carried her into the room and called for the salutary wolves, who were the doctors of their pack to attend to his mate.

he couldn't stop panicking, he just wanted his love back, safe and sound

Davina sprang up from where she lay.

she heard voices one which sounded like a male voice said

"she must have experienced something traumatic and it stressed her brain. just give her a few weeks and she'll come around "

then another male voice said

"but why doesn't she remember anything? why did she faint when she saw those wolves?"

"I think wolfsbane was injected into her blood. wolfsbane alters the mind of its victims. I think she must have been traumatized by something, maybe her first transformation into a wolf. the trauma must have messed with her brain too"

huh! she exhaled sharply. trauma? what sort of trauma? except the person would count being taken to an unknown place unwillingly as part of it and seeing wolves morphing into human beings, if not there was no trauma.

"I brought herbs for situations like this. once she takes them, she'll recover in no time "

after the person said that, it looked like the man left because Dante, the guy who looked like Pete and Calvin came to her.

"the salutary wolf, that man who just left said you're experiencing some kind of glitch in your memory so we all are gonna help you recover quickly" Calvin said and then placed his palm on her cheek "are you okay? are you feeling any kind of pain?"

she slowly removed his palm from her cheek.

okay, it was certain now. she was in another world. That was the only explanation to what she'd seen. she remembered her wish vividly, that's if she could call it a wish, it was more like a declaration of her thoughts and she meant ' another place ' but the word, 'world' just slipped out. she didn't literally mean it, but Agnes took it so seriously. serious enough to place her in this mess. she didn't know if this place was better than the world she lived in before. well, at least they cared about her and Maxine didn't.

"I'm Calvin and you Alexis, are my mate" the man infront said

"mate?" she asked "what's a mate?"

"you're like my wife" Calvin replied

she was married? this was really shitty.

"you've heard of a wolf pack right?" the man continued "I am the alpha, like the head. I call all the shots around the various packs. And where you are now, is the alpha's domain. it's heavily guarded and restricted....." he stopped, then turned to the guy who looked like Pete "this is weird. I mean I -- I can't do this" he said to him. "just take over..... tell her everything..." he said with a sad tone of voice and left.

"Pete?" she could help it. even if she knew he wasn't Pete, she still called him

"I'm not Pete, I'm Dante" she couldn't help noticing the differences between him and her brother Pete. his voice held a baritone but Pete's voice didn't. he was ripped, broad chested and had taut muscles but Pete was rather lean. Before she could compare any further, the guy Dante took her in his arms and hugged her tight.

"I was so worried, Alexis. we were all worried"

"I know you worried about Alexis, whoever she may be but I'm not Alexis, trust me I'm not delirious. I'm Davina "

she said when he released her from the hug

"there you are, saying that again, how do you expect me to believe that when my sister, who is sitting infront of me is saying she's another person " he smiled and pulled her cheek "you say a lot of crazy stuff, Alexis"

"why would I just make up stuff like that? I'm Davina. Davina Othis"

Dante stared at her, hard. he stared at her like he was about to see reason in what she said

"If I had memory loss because of Ray or whoever then would I have remembered my name? my brother Pete who looks just like you....?"

"stop! " he ordered, visibly uncomfortable and she felt he was starting to believe her. "you need to rest Alexis, that's what he said....."

"you stop telling me to rest. I can't rest. why don't you guys understand....." her voice broke

"you have to help me " she said frantically, then grabbed Dante's arm " surely there must be some kind of witch or psychic around. take me there. I need to get out of this place "

"you'll be fine, Alexis. I know this because you're my sister and you never falter, even in---"

"I'm not her. Alexis was your sister, I get it. aren't you supposed to recognise her, maybe through a part of her body that stood out..." it was then he noticed something on her. turned her neck and checked the side.

"the scar---- where is the scar? you've had that scar for seventeen years now, since you triggered your curse" he stared at her, confused now

then, abruptly, he unzipped her tank top zipper. she gasped. even if she'd seen that face for twenty one years of her life, she still felt uncomfortable

"what are you doing?" she asked him

"stay still!" he said as he pulled the sides of her top down. his hand froze in its place, after he saw her back.

"there's no scar on your back, Alexis?" he quickly zipped her dress and faced her

"you're not my sister?"

she exhaled. she was relieved. finally, finally someone got her.

"I'm not."

"how did those deep scars disappear?"

"I never had them in the first place, Alexis did"

he kept mute for a while, he was obviously in deep thought. then he finally spoke to her

"I can't be sure you aren't deceiving me, deceiving us. I can't be sure that you don't have a huge prank up your sleeve. for all I know, they are just scars" he said and her heart sank. he doubted her again. was this how she was now going to live? with people who doubted her? she had to have someone on her side at least.

"what can I do to make you believe I'm not Alexis?" she sounded defeated but didn't feel that way

"the full moon is in two days time, I won't let you out of my sight until after the full moon" he said

full moon? the one she saw in movies? where a human being morphed slowly and painfully, sometimes in to a wolf?

"what's going to happen on that day?"

"no wolf who's triggered their curse can escape the full moon and we've both triggered our curse. so I'll keep watch over you. I'll only believe you if you can't turn into a wolf, under the moon " he said

she didn't really understand what he said but she managed to grab the gist of it. he'll only believe she wasn't Alexis if she didn't turn into a wolf on the full moon. she smiled. that was easy. she obviously wasn't a wolf so making him believe her which was hard before, had now turned into a piece of cake. All she had to do was wait.
