ASTRID

It had been four years since I last saw the sky – four years since my parents were killed – four years since I got locked up in this bloody cell all because I wasn't able to transform.

It was mating season, and I was meant to transform and find my mate, but instead, I got locked up in a prison cell for my parents' supposed treason. I wasn't allowed to see them before they died.

I was stripped of my title as the future Luna, and of course, my supposed mate Zade cowered and rejected me. Four years had passed since then, and I was still locked up in the cell. Today it's selection day…..the day I'd escape and have my vengeance on the Pack who caused my pain and suffering. They were the only reason I was breathing – my very reason for existence: revenge.

They killed my parents, and I'd kill their pack - blood for blood.

My hands were cuffed to the wall that dug deeper each time I tried to move. The old me would have been scared, but I'm not anymore. They killed her.

The howls, which were my only connection to the outside world, increased, signifying the wolves had found their mates and were probably going to celebrate, meaning it was now or never.

It was time – the moon was setting, and my newly awakened wolf would forge a bond with me.

A tremor finally ran down my spine as my wolf, "Eliza," bonded with me.

"Eliza," I whispered.

"He's here - It's time."

She huffs happily in acknowledgment, and I stop to tell her my plan to kill him but suddenly stop when someone approaches.

Loud boots. Sharp and commanding, followed by a set of other boots.

The door creaks slowly, unleashing the moonlight which I hadn't seen in years – it got brighter, revealing the figure or figures who approached.

Among them stood him, "Kieran Thorne" – The son of Xavier Thorne - The man who killed my parents.

I felt it immediately when I saw him.... the pull to him.

The sharp, agonizing pain that made me want to hold onto him and never stop – the same way I felt when I was mated to Zade, which meant the son of the man who killed my father was my mate!

How was this possible?

"Mate!" – my wolf Eliza howled in excitement, contradicting the pain I was feeling.

It had to be a mistake. A cruel joke played by the Moon Goddess… something!

How could she do this to me? After all the pain she put on me, she decides to add more?

I looked back at Kieran who seemed to have halted but maintained his posture nevertheless.

I'm sure he felt the bond, but he surely wouldn't acknowledge me – especially in front of all these men.

The bond pulsed harder as they got closer.

Three more steps before they got here. ONE – TWO – AND THREE.

The largest of them strides towards me then grabs my hand, pulling me up.

"Astrid – Astrid Sterling," he asks as his eyes bore into him, giving a predatory gaze.

"Am I correct?"

"Why ask when you already know the answer?" My reply seemed to switch something off in him because his face twists in rage as he raised his lips to speak again.

"Look, we aren’t here for trouble – I presume nothing else can be worse than the death of your parents." His voice hardens. "We’re just here to strike a simple deal since you’ve proven yourself to be useless and un-shiftable."

Oh…if only they knew, I smirked inwardly.

"As punishments for your parents’ crime-" I stopped him immediately he mentioned that.

"I thought you wanted to strike a deal! – why must I pay for whatever crimes they committed? You bastards didn’t even let me see them, and now you come to ask for payments, huh?"

"Mind your language, girl! – you’re just making it worse," Another one of them said.

"But I thought nothing was worse than the punishments you’ve given me already – You know you’re all just cowards – staying in the dark and letting others do the dirty work for you ...killing innocent people like my parents and saying they did something wrong!"

I walk towards Kieran as the anger in me increases.

"You felt it, didn’t you?"

He walks towards me more, closing the space between us. "You think it means something? You think it changes anything? – It doesn't change the fact that you’re the child of monsters – it doesn't change the fact that you're weak and useless, does it?

I moved back – Eliza whimpering at the weight of his voice.

"Your pack locked me up when I was just seventeen! – when I hadn’t discovered who I was!" "He destroyed my life in a day – I hadn’t even met him!"

"And if my parents did do something wrong, then why must I pay for it? – why must I pay for the sins they committed?

"You were seventeen and you hadn’t even found a wolf – your mate rejected you and your parents committed atrocities – and as the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree – does it?"

"I have no wolf but here I am – your wolf is calling to me yet I’m weak and useless."

I laughed at his stupidity.

Had he really not realized or was he just acting?

He finally looked away from me and looked back at the bald man who was talking to me earlier.

"Take her to the ceremony."

"Are you sure about this, sire?…your father woul—"

"NOW LOGAN!"

I looked back at him confused – what ceremony was he talking about?

"I am not going anywhere with you – you haven’t even acknowledged the fact that I’m yo—"

"Mate?" His eyes darkened as he said the words.

"Of course, I know we’re mated, and I’m more than happy to fulfill your wolf's wishes of mating with me."

"I nev—"

"GO!"

He didn’t even let me complete my sentence as he pushed me towards Logan.

He gritted his teeth as he said, "See you soon – Dear Mate."

~ ~ ASTRID ~ ~" If you want me, Kieran. If you want this pack to survive the Blood Moon. If you want Rhys to live…” I held his furious gaze, my voice unwavering, even as my heart hammered against my ribs. “Then you will share your Luna. With your brother. And the pack. Will witness.”The words hung in the air, audacious, shocking. Kieran froze in the doorway, his massive wolf form framed by the splintered wood. His golden eyes, blazing with an earlier rage, now widened in disbelief, then narrowed into slits of pure, terrifying fury. He let out a guttural snarl, a sound of pure betrayal and disbelief.Behind him, the pack wolves surged forward, their growls a low, menacing chorus. The scent of their aggression, thick and primal, filled the small cabin. They were ready to tear me, to tear Rhys, to tear everything apart.Elara Thorne, her wolf form still bristling, pushed through the pack, her gaze fixed on me, a flicker of something unreadable – shock? grudging admiration? – in her col

~ ~ ASTRID ~ ~“Don’t you dare die on me, Rhys Thorne,” I muttered, my voice tight, as I wrapped my arms around his massive wolf form. Every muscle screamed in protest as I forced myself to lift him, to begin the agonizingly slow journey through the dense, unforgiving forest. His weight was a crushing burden, his whimpers of pain tearing at my heart with every desperate, strained step. The moon began its slow descent, painting the forest in shifting shades of gray and black. The air grew colder, thick with the damp scent of earth and decaying leaves. Each step was a battle against the rough terrain, against the rapidly draining strength in my limbs, against the insidious fear gnawing at my resolve. Rhys’s warmth, his life, was a fragile anchor in my arms.My mind raced. Kieran’s fury, Xavier’s cold decree, Elara’s surprising intervention, and the terrifying phantom scream – it all swirled into a chaotic tempest. But right now, none of it mattered as much as the injured wolf in my arms

Chapter 16~ ~ ASTRID ~ ~“This is your final warning, Astrid,” Kieran growled, his voice low and dangerous, his wolf radiating pure, unadulterated rage. “Move. Now. Or you will face the consequences.”His golden eyes, usually so commanding, were now chillingly blank with fury. He was no longer seeing me, Astrid, the girl he claimed. He was seeing defiance. A challenge to his absolute authority. My own wolf, Eliza, was a frantic, terrified animal trapped in my chest. Every instinct screamed at me to obey, to cower, to submit to the Alpha’s will. But seeing Rhys, injured and vulnerable on the ground, his dark eyes still holding that quiet defiance, something snapped within me. A stubborn, furious resolve.“No,” I snarled, the word ripping from my throat, raw and defiant. My black fur bristled, and a low, guttural sound, more animal than human, vibrated deep in my chest. It wasn’t a whimpering growl of fear, but a guttural, protective warning. I was small against his formidable bulk, bu

  • Fated To The Dark Alphas   CHAPTER 15 - MOVE

My eyes snapped open, my heart hammering. Kieran lay beside me, heavy and sated, his breathing deep and even in sleep. But Rhys’s scent, clean and earthy, was a phantom presence in the room, cutting through the musky aftermath of Kieran’s claim. It was impossible. He was supposed to be confined. Yet his whisper, the undeniable proof of his proximity, still resonated in my very bones.I shifted slightly, the furs rustling, a subtle movement that wouldn't disturb Kieran. My gaze darted towards the window, the faint moonlight painting shadows. Nothing. Yet the chilling certainty remained. He had been here. While Kieran slept. While I lay in the tangled aftermath of my Alpha’s brutal possession.A cold dread seeped into my veins, mingling with a strange, dark curiosity. What kind of game was this? What did he want? He wasn't like Kieran, demanding and forceful in the light. Rhys moved in the shadows, his presence a subtle, insidious poison that worked its way into my mind, into my very se

  • Fated To The Dark Alphas   CHAPTER 14 - YOU'RE MINE

~ ~ ASTRID ~ ~“A mark can be broken, Kieran,” Rhys countered, his voice a low, seductive whisper that sent shivers down my spine. “Especially when the soul rejects it. And the heart calls for another.” He looked at me, his eyes dark and intense, a silent question in their depths. “Isn’t that right, Astrid?”Kieran let out a primal roar, a sound that ripped from deep within his wolf. He launched himself at Rhys, a blur of muscle and fury. His fist connected again, a sickening thud, but Rhys was already moving, flowing with the blow, deflecting its full force. He landed a quick, sharp jab to Kieran’s ribs that made the Alpha grunt, then danced back, agile and infuriatingly composed.“You pathetic excuse for an Alpha!” Kieran bellowed, his face contorted with rage, blood dripping from his own split lip. “You think a few pretty words can undo the Moon Goddess’s binding? You think you can steal what’s mine?!”“Steal?” Rhys scoffed, a dark amusement in his eyes as he feinted, making Kieran

"Not every bond means something, Astrid," Rhys said, staring hard at me. "Some are real. Others just feel like a damn prison." Kieran’s grip on my arm tightened, his knuckles white, his entire body vibrating with a fury so potent it felt like a physical hum against my skin. He didn’t even spare a glance back at Rhys. His focus was entirely on me, on pulling me out of that room, away from the silent challenge. He moved with a speed that left me stumbling, almost dragging me through the grand hall, past the lingering Silverfang delegation whose eyes, I felt, burned into my back.He didn’t stop until we were in the suffocating solitude of my quarters. The heavy door slammed shut behind us with a resounding thud that rattled the very air. He released my arm, his breath coming in ragged gasps, his golden eyes blazing with an unholy fire.“What the hell was that, Astrid?!” he snarled, running a hand through his dark hair, the gesture one of raw, barely contained frustration. “That… that li
