Chapter twenty-nine

Abbigail

I woke the next morning and was immediately hit with a wave of nausea. I took slow, deep breaths to help subside the nausea. Shawn sits up next to me, hands me a peppermint and rubs my stomach. I let out a relieved breath, lean against Shawn and our door opens. I smell Joyce's perfume moments later and reach for her.

She gives me her hand and presses two fingers on the inside of my wrist. Moments later the nausea is gone and I let out a relieved sigh. "I don't know what you just did, but thank you," I say in a relieved whisper.

"It's a pressure point to help relieve nausea," Joyce says softly and kisses my forehead. "Sorry to barge in, I just wanted to check on you after yesterday."

"It's okay, I am thankful for your concern. I no longer have any nausea. No apologies necessary," I say with a light smile.

"I also wanted to steal you away. It's your first Christmas in our family and we have a tradition that my mother started years ago, when I was your age," Joyce chokes quiet
