Chapter 33

Lucas's POV

I was up early because I needed to do some stuff in the office. I needed to check emails, do some paperwork, and then head to the dungeon to check up on the rogues that got shot. The guards told me last night that they had gone crazy, digging at their skin as if trying to get something off of them. I wanted to laugh, but I didn't. I told them I would go check up on them later. So, I was in my office checking my emails, making phone calls, and looking at the paperwork. Isiah hurried into my office, and I looked up, stunned as I had honestly forgotten they were here. We hadn't even started the investigations yet, and we needed to start as soon as possible so they could get back home. The faster we got this done, the better. He had a worried look on his face, and I stood up right away because I knew something was wrong.

"Have you seen Kayla? We were supposed to head to the building where they keep the files to take a look around, but she wasn't in her room. We looked around this huge castle, and she is nowhere to be found," I quickly calmed down when one of the guards linked me and informed me that Flora was sparring with the new girl—this new girl possibly being Kayla. Flora liked to challenge the strong ones just to see if she could beat them. I told Isiah to follow me as I knew where she was.

"She’s at the training grounds sparring with Flora. Come on, this could be good. I really wanted to see how she fights." So we hurried outside and that's where I saw them sparring, looking like they were beating the hell out of each other. I didn't know what came over me; I had promised myself I wouldn't tell anyone until everything was said and done, and what did I do? I blurted it out.

"WHAT THE H*LL IS GOING ON HERE! WHY ARE YOU TWO FIGHTING LIKE THIS? HOW DARE YOU HIT MY MATE!" Flora bent down on her knees, bowing to me right away, but Kayla didn't. She was my equal, and I didn't want her on her knees bowing to me. Flora got up, putting her arms around me. I gently pulled them away from me, telling her how sorry I was, that she wasn't my mate. She understood and told me to go get Kayla; she would be fine. She knew she would find her mate. I didn't need her permission, but she ran off with the others when Kayla started walking over to me.

"Shit, shit, shit... I didn't want it to go down like this. How come this stuff happens?" I knew why—it was because I opened my big mouth. When she reached where I was standing, she whispered to me.

"Is it true that I'm your mate and you didn't say anything? It's been almost a week, and you haven't said anything to me at all. Just go ahead and reject me; I'll be alright. I'm a strong woman, Lucas. I will be just fine." I was stunned. Why would she think I would reject her? I never wanted to do that. I just wanted to get this done first before I claimed her, but it's too late now. She thinks I want to reject her. I tried touching her arm, but she moved out of my reach.

"Listen, this might be just a big mistake. I'm probably not even your mate. Next week is my birthday, and I'll be shifting for the first time. Then I'll probably find my mate, who knows, maybe he's dead, who the hell knows. But don't stand there and lie to someone about me being your mate. I don't have time for bullshit games. We will do our business here, and then we will leave. The sooner, the better because I'm already sick of this place,” she stormed off, heading back into the castle. Isaiah shook his head, walking past me to talk to his daughter. 

“We will talk later about my daughter, Lucas, but right now, she needs me and her mother. Just stay away from her until she calms down. You don't want to be near her when she's pissed. Trust me, you don't want to talk to her right now.” He patted my shoulder walking toward the house to check up on his daughter. What the hell just happened?”

Kayla pov

We were having a blast sparring against each other, we were kicking each others ass and i was having a blast doing it, I didn't know what was going on when she suddenly stopped going down on her knees, I then heard a thunderous voice, 

“WHAT THE H*LL IS GOING ON HERE! WHY ARE YOU TWO FIGHTING LIKE THIS? HOW DARE YOU HIT MY MATE!” Wait, was this girl his mate, and he thinks I was hitting her out of hate? No, that wasn't the case. We were just sparring sh*t. Was I in trouble? I watched as Flora went over to Lucas putting her arms around him, I couldn't help but feel jealous, I didn't like that at all, why am i feeling this way, I heard him speak kindly to her, “Im sorry but you are not my mate,” Wait how long has he known about this, I suddenly started getting angry, how dare he keep this from me, i didn't walk over there angry, I walked over there and Flora hurried away, i guess she didn't want to be in the middle of this, The rest of the group left with her, when i reached him i didn't give him time to talk, i needed to know, 

“Is it true that I'm your mate, but you didn't say anything? It's been almost a week, and you haven't said anything to me at all. Just go ahead and reject me, i will be alright, im a strong woman, Lucas, i will be just fine,”  He tried reaching out to me but i moved out of the way from his reach, i didn't want him to touch me, for a few days now all i wanted was to be near him, but now, i wanted to be away from him, I knew i hurt him what i said next, but, i just did not care right now, i wanted to get away from him, 

‘Listen, this might be just a big mistake, i’m probably not even your mate, next week is my birthday, i'll be shifting for the first time, then ill probably find my mate who knows, maybe hes dead, who the h3ll knows, but don't stand there and lie to someone about me being your fucking mate, I don't have time for bull shit games, We will do our bussniess here and then we will leave, the sooner the better because im already sick of this place,” I knew i wasnt tired of this placed, I loved it here, i really did, but i don't like it when people hide shit from me, he took my decision away from me,My lycan Queen and my wolf Auraua was wimpering, i blocked them away from my mind, i was to angry to hear them cry over their crap, they been telling me for days that our mate was around, we had to wait until we shifted to figure out who it was, and now i knew who it was, mom and dad came into my room they sat on either side of me, they didn't say anything at first, 

“Honey, it's hard i know, When your dad figured out we were mates, he didn't say anything to me either, I was human, I didn't know anything about the werewolf world, he was trying to be careful not scare me, But once i figured it out, i was still a little scared but i ended up alright, look at us now honey,” i knew mom was trying to sooth me, but this is a totally different thing, i'm not human, I wasn't even crying, i was more mad than anything else, if he ends up being my mate, there is no way i'm going to let him get to me, he held onto this secret until now, 

“Mom, i know you're trying to sooth me, but this is a lot different than what you went through we been here for almost a week now, and nothing has been done, he kept this from me for a week, even Queen and Aurora told me out mate is nearby, i just had to wait for us to shift to find out who he was,  turns out it was him and he knew all along what we were to each other, I want this done and over with so we can leave, ill help but i won't let him touch me, i won't let him even speak to me, if he comes near me, i just might punch him right in his face,” We were sitting there in silence, thats all they could do for me, is just sit there and be there for me, we were sitting there for about ten minutes when i heard a knock my bedroom door, i swear to the moon goddess if it is him i'm going to knock him right out, dad and mom got up they were going to leave and give us time to talk, Mom opened the door letting him inside, dad left the door open when they walked out, 

“Honey if you need us, we are just a mindlink away okay,” dad had said. He looked up at Lucas and walked out. I sat there on the edge of my bed just looking at him, what i really wanted was to run to him and kiss him, but Na, i rather not, im okay with or without him,

“Kayla, I'm sorry, I wanted to get this done, I wanted to get the investigation done. I wanted to get the rogue problem done before this happened. That way, we could spend time together and get to know each other before you found out. But when i walked out there and saw you to sparring, i just couldn't help it, i opened my big ass mouth and put my foot right in it, I knew i took away your decision, but you need to understand, im the king here, i needed to be strong about this, my people need to come first before anything else,” I stood up from the bed, walk over to him and said, i don;t even know if your a real king, as far as i am concerned my grandfather is the lycan king,  he looked at me like I was crazy. He calmly stated. 

"Sweetheart, I know you love your grandfather, but I am the lycan king. I can sit here all day arguing with you about this, but I would rather not. I came here to tell you I'm sorry for not telling you. I wanted to get this done first before I said anything. But if I did, you still wouldn't believe me because you haven't shifted yet. You don't know if I'm lying to you or not. I didn't mean to take your decision away from you, but if you just bear with me.

You ask me to bear with you? But you know this longer than I have. And you still didn't come to me so we could have talked about this, but instead, I found out because you thought I was being hurt or something like that. I wasn't hurt. I was having fun. What we should have been doing is trying to get down to why or who is taking money from you and your people. Can you please just leave my room? I need time to think." What I really wanted was to take my gun and shoot him in the damn kneecaps or kick him where it's really going to hurt. But I didn't. I just wanted him to leave me alone. I wasn't hurt. I was just pissed because my decision was taken away from me. I'm not some little child. I'm an adult. And I'm soon to shift. So I will find out the truth if he is really my mate or not. I looked up, and he was still in my room.

"I asked you to leave my room. Go to your office or something, just leave me alone. Go play with one of your playmates, I'm sure they just love you." Before we even knew what was going on, I was slammed against the wall. A powerful orb came slamming the door shut.

"You listen to me and listen well. This is my house. You and your family are just guests in my home. I invited you to help me. Do not make me regret it. Yes, we're mates, but I will not stand by and have you talk down to me. I don't give a f**k who your grandfather is. I'm the motherf**king lycan king. Do I make myself clear?" Oh, no way he's going to have me against this door with his body pressed against mine like this. Well, actually, it turned me on. I liked it. But I'm not going to tell him that. He leaned into me, sniffing my neck, then he inhaled my scent. What the hell was he doing?

"I can smell your arousal, little mate." I think I've had enough for one day with him being so close to me. I pushed him away as hard as I could, only barely making him move. Walking over to the door, I opened it.

"I'm not that easy, jacka**. You will soon learn that. Now please leave." He smiled, nodding, knowing just a little bit that he had turned me on. He took a few steps forward, touching my arm with his fingertips.

"After all this is said and done, Kayla, you are mine." He left my room. I shut the door, falling down with my back to it. What the hell did I get myself into?
