Chapter 34

Lucas's POV

I knew I made a big mistake not telling Kayla about our bond. I knew about it, but she didn't because she hadn't shifted yet. So I knew I needed to talk to her. I waited for an hour for her to spend time with her parents and calm down, then went up to her room. When I knocked, both her parents answered her door. They walked out, leaving the door open. I tried talking to her, reasoning with her. I even tried to stay calm because all I wanted to do was to toss her on that bed, mate, and mark what is mine. But when she got smart with me, disrespecting me, I didn’t like it one bit when she told me to leave her room. Did she forget that she was in my house? Just because she is my mate, I won't stand for disrespect. I’m the fucking king here; she’s not. Her grandfather might have been the mafia king, but I am the lycan king. I need to get this fellow's number. I’m sick of her not believing that I am the king. My aura slammed the bedroom door closed, and I quickly pushed her against the wall, demanding attention when I speak with her. Then I spoke in my Alpha tone, demanding respect.

“You listen to me, and listen well. This is my house. You and your family are just guests in my home. I invited you to help me. Do not make me regret it. Yes, we're mates. But I will not stand by and have you talk down to me. I don't give a damn who your grandfather is. I'm the mother-fucking lycan king. Do I make myself clear?” I leaned forward, smelling how good her hair smelled, then leaned into her neck, inhaling her scent. I was so close to her. I pushed up against her, knowing she felt my breath on her neck. She shivered when I nipped at her. Just a few more inches, I could have marked her. But I didn't. I will not force my mark on her. But she will not disrespect me in my own home. I felt her shiver when I pressed against her. Then I whispered in her ear.

“I can smell your arousal, little mate. Am I turning you on?” I slowly licked her neck, knowing what I was doing to her. She pushed me away; she was strong. I felt the force when she pushed me away. She opened the door, asking me to leave. Looking right into her eyes, I said fine, but after all is said and done, you are mine, little mate. I walked out the door with her slamming it behind me. I heard her slide down the door, chuckling to myself. I knew I took her breath away. I wanted to learn so much about her. I knew her family was ruthless. I just wanted to see how ruthless they really were. I walked over to my room and noticed her father standing by my door, waiting for me. Here we go.

“I know you were my daughter's mate when we drove up the driveway. Did you not think I heard you gasp when you looked at her? You might have heard about us, Lucas, but you have no idea what the hell we can do. We are the mafia family. You hurt one of us, you better pray that I'm the only one that comes after you because the rest will follow. You better not hurt my daughter. This might be your house, but she's right. You should have told her. I'm not being disrespectful, I'm being a protective father. Just watch your step around my kid. Other than that, when are we going to the filing building? I want to get this started.” I listened to what he had to say. I knew he was just being a father. If someone did this to my kid, I would be acting the same way, but maybe a little worse. But this is my home, so he's being respectful. My lycan even tempered at his words. Shit, my lycan feared this man. This is crazy.

“We will start tomorrow. I can get my cousin Corey to do the paperwork. But yeah, meet me in my office at seven in the morning. Jasmine should be there; she is the one that takes care of the deposits and the files. So, if she knows anything, she will let us know when we get there.” He nodded and stood there for just a second. Sighing, he finally said fine and then asked if we had ice cream and olives. I tried not to gag. What the hell did he need that for? Then I thought about it. Oh, his mate is pregnant.

“Yeah, it's in the kitchen. You're welcome to anything in there. I'm heading to bed. Just meet me in the office at eight am, and then we will go from there. It's time to start this.” He headed off while I went to bed. I took a shower and got out with just my boxers; I was ready for bed. I had a long day tomorrow.

“Jasmine POV

When I finally got rid of the last three lycans, I knew it was only a matter of time before they would find me again. I had to make sure they couldn't find the files I had hidden. I made three copies: one for Corey, the king's cousin, one for Tasha, and one for the king. I instructed the guy that if he hadn't heard from me in a few days, he should hand the files directly to them. He would be generously compensated for this. Until then, I had to leave. I had been in a small town for a few days now, hiding out in a run-down hotel. I didn't expect them to find me so quickly. I was trying to stay here for a few more days, but that plan wasn't going to work.

As I sat in a cozy little restaurant having lunch with a cup of hot tea, I used a spray to cover my scent so no one would detect that I was a lycan. But, I hadn't thought about changing my appearance with a wig, a different hair color, or colored contact lenses. I immediately sensed them as they entered the door. 'Shit,' I thought to myself. I discreetly placed a few bills on the table to cover my meal, knowing they were looking for me. I pulled up the hood of my hoodie, hoping to escape unnoticed. As I got up to leave, leaving the money behind with the check, I instructed the waitress to keep the change. Walking out the door and down the sidewalk, I heard someone call my name. I pretended not to hear and quickened my steps as I knew they were close, maybe just a block away from me.

“Jasmine Ray, I know that is you. You cannot hide from us forever. You are wanted back at the castle,” a voice called out. I immediately knew it wasn't by the king's orders; these were rogues. I could smell them; they tried to mask their scent, but with a lycan nose, I could detect them from a mile away. I needed to get out of there quickly, as they now knew I knew it was them. I heard them quicken their pace, and I knew it was time to flee. Running, I searched for a place to escape.

Most doors were locked, but I remembered an abandoned building nearby. It was an old printing press company that I had explored one night. I knew everything about that building and made sure no humans were around when I did. I leaped onto the building, running and evading the rogue lycans who followed suit. They were closing in on me as I jumped through a cracked window into the old building, dislocating my shoulder in the process. With a quick, painful attempt, I managed to pop it back into place, hearing a crunch.

Inside the building, the rogues were blocking my way out, and I had to think fast. “Jasmine, there is no use trying to escape. You are cornered. The boss wants you back; he didn't appreciate you running away. Either surrender the folders or come back with us and face death. The choice is yours,” they threatened.

I recalled the old printing machines chained above the ceiling and noticed a lever beside me. With one kick, I triggered the mechanism, causing the machines to descend rapidly on the two rogues. I took advantage of the distraction and hurried out the window before jumping to the ground.

Grabbing my bag and forsaking my car, I rushed to the train station. If I could get away, I could head to a town two stops over where they wouldn't expect me. The train ride would buy me time to change my appearance with a wig or colored hair. At least this time, I managed to escape.

Arriving at the train station, I hoped to board unnoticed. Finding a seat in the back, I settled in, finally realizing how exhausted I was. As the train whistle blew and the man announced the last stop before it turned back, I hurriedly gathered my belongings, knowing I had to figure out my next move once again.”

Chapter 48William's POVWe woke up a little later than we should have. I was exhausted from the all-night driving to catch up with Luna and the others, so I slept in when I knew I shouldn't. I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't help it. Me being a leader to these guys was a bad idea on the Moon Goddess's part, but she insisted on this. I felt like I was letting her down. When we left the hotel room, I didn't know how long Luna was ahead of us, but I knew her car was not there. "Shit, I knew I shouldn't have slept in." But I also remembered we shouldn't be so close while she is driving. She would spot us and wonder why we are following them. We hurried to the car, then sped away from the hotel. I had to get the GPS out so I could see how far the castle was that Anna was talking about, her brother being there. It made me wonder if this guy is the real Lycan King. I remembered an old tale of a Lycan King. He only wanted the Lycans around; he wanted everything else dead. He wanted to

Chapter 47Dark Witch Tree (Sorry, I couldn't think of a better name to give her, lol)I was sitting on my porch enjoying the night. The owls were feasting, and I heard the snakes crawling around. When that girl came to me wanting some off-the-wall potion to make the king think that his mate was her, I thought she was insane. I've made this before long ago that the woman died because she didn't put enough in his drink. He was an alpha that everyone wanted, and she did, too. She decided to come to me and ask for it. I made it strong for her, warned her of the karma that it might cause, but she didn't care; she wanted it. I told her I wanted her first child, and she agreed. But things happened; she didn't put enough. They were in bed together when the potion wore off; the alpha killed her right there. Now, this girl comes to me asking for the same thing. I told her that I wanted to live in the castle, and she agreed. However, I had a feeling she wasn't going to live either. That girl is

Chapter 46Barry's POVIt had been a few days since I saw my daughter Angie. She told me she had plans for this little bitch, but what plans were they? I needed to let her know what my plans were before she did something stupid. I mind-linked her, telling her to get to my house now; she would be living with me so I could keep an eye on her. She didn't need to be living in the castle right now. I knew she didn't like the idea. I was waiting on the porch for her when she arrived, and she didn't have anything with her."Where the hell is all your stuff, Angie? I told you to bring it with you.""Dad, if they saw me take my things from my room and move in with you, they would think something is going on, and I don't need that right now. You said you had a better plan than I had. So before I tell you mine, you need to tell me yours. Besides, mine is already in progress." I couldn't believe my ears. What the hell was she doing that was already in progress?"Girl, I hope it's nothing stupid t

Chapter 45This is how William became part of the assassins.William's POVAs I slept beside my mate Anna, I came to realize something profound: I was part of a very strong family. It took me a while to understand this, but I am an integral part of this family. I often wondered how I could help them. While I slept, the moon goddess came to me. I knew she never appeared unless there was something important to convey. I found myself standing in the woods, arms crossed over my chest, simply observing. I was pondering why I was there until I heard her voice. I turned to see her: she had white hair cascading down her back, white eyes, and a white dress with a tribal mark on her forehead."I know you're wondering why I summoned you here, William, but I am forming an assassin group to aid Mercury's family. I know you well, William. It will be tough, but Anna's sisters, Luna and Kayla, are in dire need of help. A significant war is imminent as they seek to dethrone the king, who refuses to st

Chapter 44 Kayla's POVI knew I shouldn't have smacked him, but I was pissed off right now. How dare she kiss what is mine? I stormed outside; I wanted to go for a run. I decided to use my wolf form. This time it really didn't hurt that much. Once I was done shifting, I ran into the woods. It was amazing how it felt looking through my wolf eyes. Everything seemed different. I could see so many colors and smell the animals before I ran up to them. I jumped over a few logs, marked some of the trees. I was having so much fun. I even let Aurora hunt down a rabbit or two; she enjoyed the run as well. I found a small lake right in the middle of the land. I looked down into the water and noticed how silver my wolf was. I think I needed to shift into my lycan. If anyone saw me like this, they would probably try to kill me. So I shifted right into my Lycan. She roared and then sat down on a log. Her fingers went into the water, scooping up some water to drink. I looked down into the water and

Chapter 43Angie's POVThroughout the night, I kept hearing howling, screaming, and even some growling. What the heck was going on? I got up and looked out the window; oh, it was a full moon, a night when first shifters did their first shift. Smirking, I hope the one that shifts gets tortured from the pain like I did. Trust me, I felt like I was dying when I did my first shift. I don't like to shift that much, but when I do, I let my lycan run as long as she wants; it makes her strong. I looked further and saw Lucas picking someone up off the ground. Motherfucker, it's that girl's first shift, and he's carrying her. I bet they're going to mate and mark each other. Walking out of my room, I watched as he carried her to her room. He went in and out of there several times, bringing up a cupcake, then food to her. The last time, it took a while for him to come out. I thought that's when they were going to do it, but I didn't hear anything; these walls were soundproof, but every now and t
