Chapter 11

Rachel's POV

Silence spread throughout the field of my backyard. Everything and everyone went still. It was as if I commanded the entire atmosphere to halt for a moment.

My eyes are still glued to Joyce. Her body was twisted under the men, and her one good eye sparkled with hope as she watched me walk to her.

I had no idea how I could help her. I just knew I couldn't leave her. Not like this. I may not have a wolf, but I was a decent fighter in hand to hand combat. My dad made sure I practiced. I never missed a class. Even when I broke my hand, he forced me to continue to train. He said that in a real fight, no one would show me mercy. That more than likely, I would get hurt. And since I couldn't shift to heal myself, I would have to keep fighting if I wanted to survive. I would have to push through my weakness as a wolfless werewolf and fight through.

I just needed to fight long enough for Clayton or our other men to get to us. Joyce and I would survive tonight.
