Chapter 4

Rachel's POV

Normally, I would have kept my mouth shut. I never started fights. Neither my dad nor Beth cared to ever take my side, so I usually let Jessica have her evil fun and try to get it over with. But knowing she was delighted to throw me from the pack and risk my life seemed to loosen my filters and my restraints. I could feel the anger building up inside me as if there was a hole in the dam I built around my emotions. I started to tremble. Wait, no, more like vibrate. My body began to shake almost uncontrollably.

I couldn't make out what Jessica was screaming at me. The constant tremors and white noise filling my ears consumed my entire train of thought.

That was until I felt something wet splat in my face. I blinked several times before the image of Jessica wipping her mouth came into clear view. Did this bitch just spit in my face?? That done it. The white noise in my ears became a white flash in my vision. Blinding me in pure rage for a moment.

Without any warning my right hand came flying forward, making hard contact with Jessica's cheek. The loud slapped echoed in my ears and momentarily replaced the white noise I was hearing. My vision came back and was hyper focused at my bitch of a stepsister. Jessica covered the left side of her face, her eyes bulged in....fear? No, this expression has to be anger. She has never shown fear towards me. Then again, I've never retaliated back.

Jessica glanced at my hand and then removed hers from her cheek. My eyes widen in surprise to see three gashes across her face. Bright red blood seem to pour from the wounds. Why is she bleeding? I only gave her a good bitch slap. She has slapped me at least a dozen times growing up, other than a busted lip, I've never bled.

I noticed Jessica's eyes kept darting to my hand before she let a high pitch shrill that could rattle glass.

" You stupid fucking bitch!" She screeched before delivering a closed fist blow straight to my temple.

I stumbled backward, only to trip and hit my head against my nightstand. With a loud thud, I hit the ground, laying on my side. Waves of blackness begin coming and going as I drift in and out.

I heard the loud yells of Beth and my dad as they came rushing into my room. Naturally, they ran to Jessica. However, I could not focus on them. Instead, I starred at my hand that laid next to me on the floor. The hand that finally gave my stepsister a piece of my mind. Through my clouded vision I saw what appeared to be claws! Yes! My dull unpolished finger nails were replaced with long, sharp, and powerful claws! I could also make out some very fine white hairs dancing across my skin. Could it be? Could my wolf actually be there, inside of me?

I never received the answer before I gave into the concussion and everything went black.
