Part 4 : Between Hate and Love

Kevin's body lay on the hospital emergency room bed. The doctors and nurses were busy treating the wounds on his body. The body I once loved so much at the same time I hated so much.

“Why don't you just die, loser? So that my life will not be complicated in the future," I said to myself. Every now and then I shudder to see blood everywhere.

My stomach is getting nauseous. It was like being stirred in a bowl of fish head soup which smelled unbelievably disgusting, fishy and intense. Immediately I stepped into the green zone of the hospital to just get some fresh air.

Lana followed me in a hurry. He seems to be very worried about me.

"Madam, what do you need?" She asked slowly.

I shook my head. "Go home, Lana. You are also tired and definitely need to rest. Kevin is nothing to you but a lousy master who only knows about hurting." I snorted.

Loud enough that Lana refused to open her mouth. It seemed like he wanted to say one thing but my sigh made him think a thousand times to argue with me, maybe.

"Okay, I'll go home first, madam. Take care of yourself. Mr Kevin may need pity but the innocent baby in Madam's womb needs more special treatment." Lana said her wise words before she finally left in front of me.

In the middle of the night, the doctor called me. He said about Kevin's condition, which had not yet passed the critical period.

“Your husband has had a concussion, Mrs Jenny. His pelvis fractured because your husband fell hard on the asphalt road. His leg was also broken because it was run over by a truck tire. I'm sorry if your husband has to use a wheelchair for life after today," said the doctor.

I am surprised. “Is this going to happen to my husband forever”?

The doctor shook his head. “Madam, God must have miracles that are difficult for common sense to comprehend. Just believe and have faith.”

After leaving the doctor's office, I went to the hospital's public toilet to just wash my face, which felt very tired. For a long time I stared at the wide toilet glass, examining centimeter by centimeter of my face and body.

I shudder remembering Kevin's body lying helpless with white bandages on his head and legs. I smirked a little.

"You shouldn't have survived, Kevin. So that you can directly meet God and be responsible for all your actions during your life.”

The atmosphere in the hospital was very quiet. The cold deserted hallways add to the creepy impression. However, I don't want to lose heart just because I'm pregnant. Even though the cold was starting to raise the fine hairs on my hands and neck, I remained strong. I didn't even raise the collar of my jacket to keep myself warm.

I quietly slipped into the ICU room, through the crowd of nurses who were nodding off while guarding their seats.

"I'll set you free, Kevin. From your love for me and also our marriage bond. Later, when you're in hell, don't forget to send me a short message. Tell me you're okay," I whispered in Kevin's closed ear.

Slowly, I pulled the IV tube that ended on the back of my husband's hand.

However, suddenly, a strong hand grabbed me. The smell of pine wafts out. I inhaled deeply, enjoying the distinctive aroma.

"Don't do that, Jenny," someone said.

I squirm. "Jack? Is that you?" A gust of wind made me feel like I was floating. Without realizing I was outside the ICU. I regained consciousness when suddenly my butt fell right on the soft sofa in the hospital waiting room.

"I won't let you become a murderer," whispered the voice again. I looked up. Jack was clearly in front of me, standing majestically as a gentleman. The man who secretly took my heart and won't give it back.

“Why are you here all of a sudden, Jack? How did you know that I was accompanying my dying husband?” I asked surprised.

“Accompany your husband? Is it true? Didn't I see your hand was about to kill him?" Jack replied.

I snorted as I cupped my palms to my face. "I hate him, Jack."

"Why? Don't you love him so much?"

"How do you know?"

Jack hugged me. A warm kiss landed on my crown. Instantly I forgot all my questions and worries. Without realizing it, I fell asleep on Jack's sturdy shoulder. The shoulder when I first met it I wanted to have all night as a place for me to cry after Kevin hurt me again and again. A soft call and clapping woke me up. I slowly blinked and looked around.

“Mr Kevin reacted, Mrs Jenny. His fingers moved when the doctor came to examine him,” said a nurse.

"Oh? Then what should I do?” The nurse looked at me in surprise. Her eyes were full of probing, tracing every inch of my body from top to bottom. Perhaps in his mind revealed a sentence of ridicule.

"You should be happy, Madam," said the nurse at last. Exactly what I expected.

I nodded. The nurse then took me to the room where Kevin was being treated. From behind the glass window of the room I saw the doctor was examining Kevin.

"Excuse me," I said as I opened the door. A handsome and dignified male doctor turned to me. For a moment, he sighed and then raised the frames of his drooping glasses to the bridge of his droopy nose.

“Please come in, Madam. See! It's a miracle. Your husband is awake and able to speak normally." The doctor stepped out after tapping my shoulder a few times. We look. The doctor's height made me have to look up a little to freely see his face.

The wind whistled in my ear. I flinched and turned my gaze to the corner of the room.

"Jack!" I cried to myself when I found a man with bare chest and piercing eyes standing like a silhouette in the corner of Kevin's treatment room.

"No need to be flirtatious. The doctor is already married," whispered Jack, of course, only in telepathy that no one but myself could hear.

I pouted, then smiled meaningfully. It's nice to have a guy jealous of me. Jealous because of his love and not because of his selfish side.

The handsome doctor had actually left Kevin's room after looking at me questioningly. Let him think I'm insane for daydreaming incoherently and even smiling for no reason.

I walked over to where Jack was standing but the sexy man motioned me to approach Kevin first.

"I thought I was dead, honey," Kevin stammered.

I smirked. "So that the bus"a together with your girlfriend in hell?” I answered sarcastically. Kevin's eyes bulged. If only his body wasn't stuck in the wounds after the accident, I can guarantee that Kevin would have come to me earlier and rewarded me with karate moves.

"Why? You are mad? Kill me now, Kevin. Ah, but… of course, if you can afford it,” I sneered, laughing.

I glanced at Jack in the corner of the room. He shook his head to witness my courage. Unfortunately, I only dared to fight Kevin when he was helpless....
