Lily's POV

“Much,” answered Marcus, throwing me a tunic. "Much better. You're picking it up quicker than any wolf I ever trained.”

I yanked the fabric over my head, unable to contain the small smile that pulled at my lips. "I had a good teacher."

“You had some raw potential.” He circled me with an appraising eye. "I just helped you unlock it. The strength was always there; it just got buried under years of believing you were weak.”

"Again," Marcus commanded. “Then tilt and hold for 10 minutes.”

I clamped my eyes shut, seeking out that place inside where the wolf was there. She answered in a rush, hungry and sharp, driving forward again as bones reconfigured themselves and hairs rushed to the surface of my skin. The shift that had once felt like being torn away now felt like coming home.

With my eyes open, the world seemed to focus in sharper relief — colors more vivid, scents more intense, sounds clearer. My wolf purred in satisfaction, pacing around as Marcus smiled his approval.
