One whispered challenge can turn a quiet vacation into a dangerous game you can’t walk away from.

The next morning I woke up with my skin still tingling from the memory of his stare. I knew I had to push harder. I picked the tiniest white bikini I brought, the one that barely held my chest in place and rode high on my hips. When I looked in the mirror I felt powerful. Dangerous. Ready.

Mia was already by the pool when I got downstairs, sipping orange juice in her sunglasses. “Damn, Liana. You trying to break necks today?”

I laughed and dropped my towel on the chair next to hers. “Just trying to get a good tan. Where’s your dad?”

“Probably in his office pretending to work even though he promised he wouldn’t. Why?”

“No reason,” I said innocently. “Just wondering if he’s joining us.”

I positioned my lounge chair so I had a perfect view of the terrace. Sure enough, John came out a few minutes later in swim trunks, looking ridiculously good. I waited until Mia went inside to grab more drinks, then stood up and walked right to the edge of the pool near him.

I intentionally dropped my bottle of sunscreen at his feet. Bending down slowly, I made sure he got the full view.

“Oops,” I said softly as I straightened up. “Sorry, Daddy.”

John froze. His eyes darkened instantly. “What did you just call me?”

I stepped closer, voice low. “You heard me. Does it bother you?”

He glanced toward the house, then back at me. “Liana, you need to stop this. Right now.”

“Why?” I asked, tilting my head. “I thought you liked it when I call you that. The way you looked at me last night… I know you did.”

His jaw clenched. “You’re playing with fire, little girl.”

“Good,” I whispered. “I want to get burned.”

Mia came back out laughing on the phone, so I had to pull away. But the rest of the day I kept at it. Every chance I got I called him Daddy when she wasn’t listening. When I asked him to rub sunscreen on my back, when I brushed past him in the kitchen, when I sat close during lunch. Each time his breathing changed. Each time his control slipped a little more.

By evening Mia was wasted. She had been drinking cocktails since afternoon and passed out hard on the big outdoor couch, snoring softly with her phone still playing music in her hand.

I waited until the house was quiet, then changed back into the white bikini and headed to the pool. John was already doing laps, cutting through the water like he was trying to outrun his own thoughts. I sat on the edge, legs dangling in the cool water, and waited for him to surface near me.

“Couldn’t stay away, Daddy?” I asked sweetly.

He wiped water from his face and stared at me hard. “You really don’t know when to quit, do you?”

“I don’t want to quit,” I said, sliding into the water until we were only inches apart. “I’ve wanted you for years. And after last night I know you want me too. Don’t lie to me.”

He let out a rough breath. “This is insane. You’re my daughter’s best friend. You’re eighteen. I should be protecting you, not… whatever this is.”

I moved even closer, pressing my wet body against his. “Then protect me by giving me what I need. Touch me, Daddy. I can feel how much you want to.”

His hands came up to my waist like he was going to push me away, but instead his fingers tightened. “You’re going to regret this.”

“No I won’t,” I whispered, sliding my hands up his bare chest. “Kiss me.”

Thunder rumbled overhead suddenly and the sky opened up. Heavy rain poured down in sheets, lightning flashing across the dark clouds. The power flickered once and then the whole estate went black except for the emergency lights.

“Storm came in fast,” he muttered. “We need to get inside.”

Instead of heading straight to the main villa, he grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the large luxury pool house a short distance away. It was a beautiful wooden structure with big glass doors, plush seating, and a small bar inside. The moment we stepped in and closed the door, the sound of rain hammering the roof filled the space. It felt intimate. Isolated.

John turned to me, water dripping down his muscular body. “Liana, we can’t—”

I cut him off by pressing myself against him and kissing him. This time he didn’t fight it. His mouth crashed into mine, raw and hungry. Our teeth clicked together as the kiss deepened. He lifted me effortlessly onto the edge of the bar counter, hands gripping my thighs hard as he stepped between them.

“Daddy,” I moaned against his lips. “Don’t stop.”

He growled and kissed down my neck, biting gently as his hands roamed over my body. One strong hand slid between my legs, pushing my bikini bottom aside. The moment his fingers touched me I gasped loudly, arching into him. He kissed me again to swallow the sound, his fingers moving in perfect rhythm while thunder crashed outside.

“You’re so wet for me already,” he breathed against my ear. “This is what you wanted?”

“Yes, Daddy,” I whimpered, grinding against his hand. “More. Please.”

He cursed and kissed me harder, fingers driving me closer and closer to the edge. I was shaking, right there, when we both heard it.

“Liana? Dad? Where are you guys?” Mia’s voice, panicked and getting closer. She must have woken up when the power went out. “Hello? The lights are all off!”

John pulled back instantly like he’d been burned. His chest heaved, eyes wild with lust and regret. He stepped away quickly, running a hand through his wet hair.

“This ends now,” he growled, voice low and rough. “You have no idea what you’re starting. Go. Before she finds us like this.”

I slid off the counter on trembling legs, heart hammering. “But Daddy—”

“Go, Liana. Now.”

I slipped out the side door into the pouring rain and circled around to meet Mia on the path, pretending I had just been looking for her too.

“There you are!” she shouted, soaked and worried. “I woke up and everything was dark. I couldn’t find you or Dad. What were you doing out here?”

“Just trying to make sure everything was okay by the pool,” I said, keeping my voice steady even though my whole body was still buzzing. “The storm came out of nowhere. Your dad went to check the generator I think.”

Mia hugged me tight. “You’re freezing. Let’s get back inside before we get sick.”

As we hurried back toward the main villa, I glanced toward the edge of the property. My stomach twisted. A black car sat parked just beyond the gate, lights completely off, barely visible through the rain. Someone was inside. Watching the house.

I looked away fast, but the fear only mixed with the fire still burning inside me. Whatever line we had crossed tonight, it was too late to go back. And someone out there already knew it.

I wasn’t sure if that scared me or excited me more.
