Chapter 022

Ethan's wolf tore from him, a shift that barely took a second. He growled angrily as Liam's wolf raced towards him, eyes burning red.

Ethan's wolf, bigger, flung Liam to the side with a push. He landed on the glass table, shattering it. Glass shards prickled into his skin. He growled in pain but rage fueled him.

He got on his feet again, biting his chest angrily while Ethan waited, ready to show him who was boss. This time, there would be no pity. Everyone in the pack needed to know their place. 

Liam reached for him again, digging claws and tooth into Ethan. Ethan's wolf held the the pain, channeling it into the force he pushed Liam away with. But Liam returned, screaming and clawing at him. Ethan was still holding on as braises sliced through his skin.

But having had enough, he grabbed Liam's arms, twisted it until it crunched. Liam backed, yelling. He broke everything in his path, tumbling them over. Then he grabbed a broken plank, ready to pluck his eyes out. 

As he approached him, Ethan grabbed the plank, with Liam still holding onto it, and tossed them out of HR building through the window. Liam landed from the hard fall, his body aching. But he wasn't done. 

Ethan's wolf growled from the window and before Liam could stand up, he jumped through the window, landing on him. His large claws slapped against his face as blood spilled from Liam's mouth. 

Liam grabbed a rock despite his blood stained eyes. He thought about Ethan in bed with Abigail and it was enough motivation. He aimed for Ethan's head but being bigger than him, the rock smashed his side. Ethan didn't stop. 

Not until old Pa Frey's voice cut through the rukus.

“Ethan!” He screamed in shock. He had been out for a business when Desmond called informing him that Ethan and Liam had unleashed their wolves and were destroying the pack. 

The moment his car got to the gate, he heard the familiar growl of Ethan's wolf, and he knew it was true. His son and grandson were uncontrollable. Just because of a hybrid. Threatening her hadn't been enough.

Now, both males were thrashing at themselves shamelessly. At the sound of his voice, they both stopped. The disappointment must have been visible enough to make their wolves hide away. 

But Pa Frey's glare was on Ethan. 

“I'm terribly disappointed,” he said.

Liam, who was now back to his human form, felt the sting of every bruise and the hurt of every bone crack and fall. But he still cursed.

“Stay away from Abigail!” He shouted, pointed accusatory finger at him. “She's mine.”

Ethan ignored him, which he should have done all along. He was here to see Pa Frey. 

“We need to talk,” he said, facing his father. 

Pa Frey's face was in a scorn. “You behave irresponsibly as though you're not the Alpha of this pack. How could you fight your son over a hybrid?”

“Does it matter if she's a hybrid?!” He exhaled sharply. Liam was gone now. There was no need to sit in an office and discuss the matter like they were cordial or he was asking a favour.

“Why was Ariana released without my authorization?” He demanded.

Pa Frey scoffed. “Is this what it is? I thought it was the hybrid again.” Pa Frey smiled. “Don't you know she's mated to your son? She's your daughter in law, Ethan. We can't keep her locked.”

Ethan didn't know how the news made him feel entirely. But it was much of a relief that Liam wasn't in the way again. 

“Mate? Since when?”

“How would you know when you're hardly here? He marked her a few days ago and you weren't picking my call. I had to release her so we could start preparing for the wedding.”

“And why am I finding out this way?” Ethan demanded. Liam was his son even if they had issues.

Pa Frey pointed to the broken window, maintaining his point without speaking. But he spoke anyway. 

“You're too busy fighting your son or chasing rogues to listen to me.”

“And you?” Ethan blew hot. “What are you busy doing? Threatening Abigail to stay away from me? How could you do that?”

Pa Frey sighed, weary from the hybrid girl's matter. “It's for your own good, son.”

“My own good! You know nothing about that.”

“I'm your father, Ethan. I know what's best for you.”

Now, it fully occured to Ethan. It was Pa Frey after all. He let out a sharp laugh, seeing he had been fooled. 

“It was you, wasn't it? Bianca's not acting on her own.”

Pa Frey didn't deny. Neither did he accept. 

“I have nothing to say to you, Ethan. But Bianca is better suit for you than that hybrid.”

“I'll choose who I want. Wasn't Bianca your choice? Look how we ended.”

“But she gave you a son suitable to be an heir of this pack, didn't she? What can that hybrid give you more than orgasms and children who would always be treated as second class citizens?!”

Ethan stepped forward. “That is for me to bear.”

“No. I would not be alive to watch you mess the Frey's pack. We are the strongest pack in this community because we know our worth. I would never approve of your relationship with that hybrid.”

Ethan's gaze darkened. “It doesn't matter, father. I don't need your blessing. It never worked with Bianca. And…I don't want you to ever lay a finger on her again. Ages mine and I'll find a way to bring us together. Watch and see.”

Ethan turned away end began his exit towards the mansion while Pa Frey watched him with broken heart. Ethan would never understand the sacrifices that were made in the past to make the Frey's pack the strongest. And yet, he was wasting the sacrifices of his ancestors over a hybrid. 

He could never allow it. 

Ethan got into his ride and ordered it to take him home. He was ready to send Bianca packing. Letting her in was a mistake in the first place. They didn't belong together and never would. 

But as he stepped into the apartment, Bianca was by the door, smiling. She held a strip to his face.

“I'm pregnant, Ethan.”
