AMARA POV.

Ace’s head immediately snapped towards my bedside table and his eyes narrowed before looking back at me. I ducked out from under his arms that caged me in, and I sighed in relief. His closeness was doing something to me, and I was glad for this little interruption. I quickly walked over to my bed and opened the drawer, and the ring tone filled the room loudly. The name Lena stood written across the screen, and I looked around at Ace. “Do you mind? I have a call.” I said and I swear I he grunted animalistically. “Who is it?” He demanded and reached for my still ringing phone, but I stepped out of his reach and held it up for him to see instead. “It’s a friend, okay?” I said and he narrowed his eyes at me as he read the name. Whose name did he expect to see on my phone? Jared’s. Fat chance of him calling me.

    SLOANE POV. I ended up following them to the local guest house in town. It was one of the popular places to stay over and I see they made a few improvements on the old place. I parked around the corner that enabled me to see the entrance and the side of the building. Sitting in the car for a few minutes, I watched if they were going to come out again but after fifteen minutes, I knew they weren’t.     AMARA POV. The swoosh of the blades of the helicopter nearly lulled me to sleep as I sat next to Ace. The evening was actually enjoyable and a smile formed on my lips as I thought back to everyone that I met. I half expected them to treat me like an outcast, but I was warmly welcomed. I wondered if this was due to me being at Ace’s side but there were times that Ace had to leave me alone to speak to other alphas and the people that he left me with were kind.
