“Your second daughter has to take her place, we can’t postpone the wedding, it is too late.”
My heart sank immediately I heard that statement, Jessica ran away with the man she loves, leaving me to face the brutal consequences of what she has done. She was supposed to marry Diego De’ Luca so he could cancel father’s debt and save his company, but she chose love over family.
Now, the burden has fallen on my shoulder.
“You can’t back away, you signed the agreement and I won’t have you or any member of your family embarrass me, what do I tell people, that the bride ran away?”
“You can’t even put your family to order Mr Ford, how do you want to manage your company if I revive it? The wedding must hold tomorrow, I don’t care if you have to drag your second daughter to the altar. I am done here.”
I gasped as the realization of what was about to happen hit me, I turned around and hid behind a pillar, watching him walk away, I couldn’t even get a look of his face to know what he looks like. I was supposed to be Jessica’s bridesmaid, but now I’m taking her position as a bride.
I came out of my hiding place immediately I sighted my father.
“Father,” I called out.
“Isabella,” he whispered softly.
“My dearest daughter, I am so sorry this is happening, you have to take Jessica’s place.”
“Trust me, if I could stop this, I would have done that. We are already bankrupt and if I don’t do this, we are going down totally.”
“I am so sorry, my precious daughter. If your mom was alive, she would have bitten off my head if she knows what I am about to do with you.”
I couldn’t say a word, I know he has no other choice. I just nodded my head in agreement to a loveless marriage, I just accepted to marry a man that doesn’t meet up to the standard my fictional boyfriends have set, now I will only get to witness love and romance in books and movies.
The type of love I’ve always dreamed of won’t even have a chance with me, falling in love with a man that will love me so much and do crazy things to show he cares about me will be impossible.
If I was told few weeks ago I will be getting married, I would have thought the person was actually crazy. The fact that I will be the one wearing the gown I picked for my sister made me feel disgusted, it was too late to pick something else.
I will be marrying a man that I don’t even know.
Kardor’s point of viewThe training ground felt different this morning, not because of the cold or the students. It was different because of her.My boots hit the ground as I stepped fully onto the training ground, my attention was already elsewhere, moving and searching. I didn’t need to look long.Leila De’ Luca stood in the second line, slightly to the left. Her posture was perfect, too perfect. Shoulder’s straight, chin lifted just enough and arms relaxed at her sides. My eyes were on her but she wasn’t looking at me. She was deliberately avoiding eye contact. My jaw tightened.“What went on between you two last night? Someone seems very uninterested with your presence.” Zeth teased.I ignored him, I wasn’t about to let him get under my skin this early.“Form up!” I ordered, my voice cutting clean through the low murmurs of the cohort. They moved immediately, taking up the form they took yesterday. She still didn’t look at me, not even when I spoke. I moved towards her intentional
Leila’s point of viewI woke up because something felt wrong, there was this quiet, instinctive awareness that someone was in the room with me.My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the dim light filtering through the curtains. I yawned and looked around the room. Then I saw him. Standing at the foot of my bed like he belonged there. My breath caught, for a second I couldn’t move neither could I think. My mind refused to process what my eyes were seeing.Kardor. In my room.“How did you…..” My voice came out hoarse, barely above a whisper. The question died halfway as reality hit me fully, the door had been locked, I knew I locked it, I even cross checked twice. So, how? How come? Or am I dreaming? My heart began to race fast.“How did you get in here?” I demanded, pushing myself on my elbows.Suddenly, I felt the shift of sheet or rather the absence of it. My eyes dropped and I saw the sheet had slipped down. Too far.A sharp gasp left my lips as I grabbed it immediately, dragging it u
Kardor’s point of viewShe blocked me.I stared at the screen for a long moment, the last message sat there unanswered, unread, and dismissed. It failed to deliver.I set the phone down on the desk, picked it up again and set it down. A slow exhale left my chest, I was trying to be calm. I refused to let the anger get a complete hold of me.Zeth was leaning in the doorway of my room with an expression that was doing an extremely poor job of concealing the fact that he found this situation entertaining.“Say it,” I said.“I haven’t said anything,” he replied.“But you are thinking loudly.”“She blocked you,” he finally said, the entertainment was no longer concealed at all.“A twenty one year old literature student from Obsidian Academy blocked the son of the Blood King.”“I am aware of what happened Zeth.”“Well, I just want to make sure we are both clear on the specifics.” he said. “For historical accuracy.”I looked at him, he looked back at me with those pale eyes.“How did you eve
Leila’s point of viewI ran, I didn’t stop until I left the surroundings of his suite. Then I pressed my back against the wall, trying to catch my breath. My heart was slamming against my ribs while my hands were shaking slightly. He kissed me.Without asking. Without anything resembling permission, he had taken it the way someone took something they already decided belonged to them. And the worst part of it was that I didn’t refuse it, I liked it. I enjoyed the feel of his lips on mine, it’s infuriating and confusing because I don’t want to like it.It makes me feel uncomfortable. And why did I have the ‘butterflies in the belly’ kind of feelings. I fucking felt butterflies floating in my belly, I have read about this in books and I felt it for the first time today.“Oh dear, it’s real. That tingling sensation is real.” I whispered to myself.Your apology is not accepted. I will be taking something…. Those words made me shiver.“ Is he going to kiss me everyday until he decides it’s
Bruno’s point of viewI don’t get tired easily, not from work and not from shedding blood. It wasn’t dawn yet, it was just close to dawn. We spent most of the night going at it like rabbits on heat. I was still wide awake, still wired and was watching her.She lay sprawled across the bed like she o
Bruno’s point of viewShe goes still beneath me, I felt her body relax, that was how I knew she was gone. Sleep took a total hold of her, it dragged her under and her breathing evens out too fast. Her body slacks with exhaustion. I pull back and moved to the edge of the bed, my elbows braced on my
Isabella’s point of viewIt’s been four days, almost a week since I saw him, my husband. He was avoiding me, he hasn’t showed up in our room since he took my virginity, maybe me being a virgin scared him away. I am not a virgin anymore, but him avoiding me makes me feel I have some sort of disease
DiegoCarlos’s body was found in the garden at the east path, he had been left with a crushed skull and a blood stained note flapping in the air, whoever did this wanted it to be personal and loud.I went there myself to take in every detail, his body laid there cold. I took the sight in, letting m
