LOGINMaris and Chloe were both surprised: Esther didn’t cry or make a fuss. She bypassed the rooms, changed into a black trench coat, and picked up her laptop.
“I bought this laptop with my own money—so I’m taking it. And don’t act like you were so generous raising me. You know exactly how much I sacrificed for the Davenier family. Ask your husband and son if you’ve forgotten.”
“As for calling my face ugly... you know the truth better than anyone.”
She paused, voice steady.
“You’ve cut ties with me in public, so let’s keep it clean. From now on, whatever happens in the Davenier family has nothing to do with me. Don’t come looking for me again.”
Passing the living room, she grabbed a bottle of purified water from the fridge and left twenty bucks on top of the closed fridge door.
She glanced at the mother and daughter chasing after her, “Don’t worry, I didn’t drink for free. I paid!”
With that, she vanished into the night like the wind.
Maris and Chloe exchanged a look. Chloe let out a cold snort. “Seriously? She’s just the adopted one, and she’s acting all high and mighty? Relax—whatever Esther can do, I can do too. I’ll handle Davenier Group and look after my brother. You and Dad can just sit back and enjoy retirement.”
A pureblood Davenier daughter, and she still can’t beat some bastard? No way.
“Esther, just wait. You’ve been kicked out, lost everything, and you’re ugly as hell. Let’s see what kind of man from the Westvale family would actually marry you!”
If the Westvale and Davenier families have a marriage agreement, then Evander must be hers!
...
At Rexpark Villa, House No. 9, the moment Esther stepped out of the car, her close friend Judy Fallon greeted her with a bright smile and a bouquet of fresh flowers. A housekeeper stood politely by the door.
“Welcome back, Miss Davenier!”
Judy handed the flowers to Esther, who gave them a brief sniff before passing them to the housekeeper. Then she opened her arms and gave Judy a warm hug.
“You’re so thoughtful and sweet—I’m afraid I might actually fall for you.”
Judy laughed and teased, “Then go get a gender reassignment surgery and let’s be a couple. With your medical skills, you wouldn’t even feel the pain!”
“You sound like your boyfriend’s been getting on your nerves again…”
“Don’t even mention that jerk!” Judy cut her off, grabbing her hand and pulling her inside. “Just dump him already!”
“A few days ago, he was your sweetheart, and now he’s a jerk?” Esther chuckled, clearly amused. “You flip faster than a page.”
“A guy who’s good for everything but the bedroom—isn’t that basically a tool?”
Esther: “…”
“If he’s still useful in bed, then he’s got some value left. Treasure him!”
“Pfft!”
Judy burst out laughing, and there was some truth to what she said. “Anyway, back to the point—I got you a big gift, to thank you for helping me make so much money. Are you brave enough to accept it?”
Seeing Judy’s mischievous grin, Esther immediately got cautious. “What kind of gift?”
“A man!”
As they stepped inside, Judy continued, “A handsome, talented, charming young guy. Isn’t Chloe trying to kick you out of the Davenier family just to steal your man? Cinderella wants to marry rich, but our Miss Esther? She’s better off keeping a young stud all to herself!”
“…Cough, I’ll say it again—Evander is NOT my man!”
Just then, the butler brought over a glass of water, and Esther nearly choked. “Also, I prefer them older—not some young pup. Uncles, grandpas, the older the better. Ideally someone close to kicking the bucket, so I can collect the inheritance nice and easy!”
Judy gave her a thumbs up. “That’s badass!”
Esther laughed and gently pushed her out the door. She knew how busy she was. “Go on and make up with your tool, or soon you’ll have tools but no men!”
Judy: “…”
“All right, get a good night’s sleep tonight. Tomorrow night I’ll take you out to enjoy the flowers, the moonlight, and some charming young studs!”
Knowing her friend wanted some quiet time, Judy didn’t press further. After she left and the housekeeper went to rest, the large villa was left with Esther alone. Yet, she didn’t feel lonely. Instead, she breathed a deep sigh of relief.
Compared to tiptoeing around the noisy Davenier family, constantly flattering and clinging to so-called benefactors, Esther much preferred being by herself.
That social media post—“Alan Davenier Announces Severance of Father-Daughter Relationship!”—went viral within hours, quickly climbing into the top three trending topics.
The comments had already passed 100,000, and she clicked to read them—overwhelmingly positive. They praised the Davenier family’s kindness, said the schooling was paid for, the money spent, and this so-called severance wasn’t really a severance—it was freedom, pure and simple!
The signs of paid commenters were obvious.
Still, it was true—she was finally free. No longer trapped by the moral guilt of being raised by them, no longer forced to do everything, right or wrong, only to be left battered and bruised in the end.
Esther didn’t pay much attention to the online buzz—she took a shower, washed away the day, and slept soundly that night. But the next morning, Judy’s call woke her up.
“Get up and check the trending searches! I’m furious! Trying to pull the posts down is way too easy for those scumbags. Don’t delete anything yet—I’m about to jump in and rip them to shreds. I’m your friend, and I won’t let those lowlifes disrespect you like that!”

"Hey, Mr. Jenkins, how are you? Weren't we supposed to meet the day after tomorrow? What brings you here today?" Roger asked with a light laugh, gesturing for Joshua to take a seat.Although a hint of jealousy stirred in Roger whenever Joshua was around, he forced himself to remain professional. After all, Joshua was not only a trusted business partner but also a brilliant entrepreneur who had built multiple thriving companies."I apologize, Mr. Davenier, for coming earlier than planned," Joshua began. "But in a few days, I'll be flying overseas, and I need to prepare everything beforehand. That's why I thought it would be better to see you today."Roger nodded, understanding. "Your business must be expanding rapidly, I see."Joshua chuckled and waved his hand modestly. "Not really. You know how it is-it's a family business that's been running for years. Now the responsibility falls on me, so the demands are just part of the job. I have to be here, there, and everywhere. Oh, and Mr. D
Alexandra quickly shook her head. No! She had never felt anything for Joshua. Yes, he was kind. Yes, he was handsome—almost as much as Roger. But her heart had never stirred for him.“No. I’ve never been interested in Mr. Jenkins. He’s a good man, handsome too. But I don’t have feelings for him,” she answered firmly.Relief washed over Roger. He couldn’t imagine Alexandra loving Joshua instead.“Then what is it?”This time, Alexandra lifted her gaze to meet his directly.“It’s not that your family isn’t worthy of me, Sir. It’s that I’m not worthy of your family. I’m not someone you should fight for.”Her lips trembled as she bit them, her fingers twisting the hem of her blouse. Tears spilled freely now. Fear gripped her, but Roger deserved the truth.“Will you listen to my story?” she asked quietly.Roger nodded instantly.“Yes. Tell me. What do I need to know?” he urged, his heart surging with hope that she was finally opening up to him.“Since I was a child, I’ve never known who my
"Do you own your own company?" Elisa asked.Joshua nodded with a polite smile."Yes, Ma'am. One of my companies works in partnership with Mr. Davenier's," he explained.Elisa let out a soft "Oh." Her thoughts drifted briefly to the past-her own father had once owned an import–export company, but after falling ill, the business collapsed. The loss had eventually taken his life too. They continued chatting pleasantly over dinner. When it was time to pay, Joshua insisted on covering the bill, no matter how much Alexandra tried to argue. He also refused to let them take a rideshare home since it was late and they were carrying several shopping bags."I can't just let the two of you go home like this. Please, let me drive you," he said firmly, leaving Alexandra with no choice but to agree. At the house, Elisa warmed up to Joshua even more. She insisted he stay for a moment and quickly made him a cup of hot tea."I'm sorry, I only have tea and a few simple snacks," she said apologetically.
Sunlight streamed through the wooden blinds, casting warm rays across the spacious apartment. Roger stirred, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and blinking away the haze. He scanned the room for the woman who had shared his bed.His phone buzzed twice, flashing a reminder: Meeting at 2 PM.Business waited for no one.Roger exhaled, stretched his arms, then called out softly, “Alexa…”Silence. He tried again, louder this time. “Alexa?”Still nothing. He frowned, tossing the blanket aside—only to spot a faint stain on the sheets. Blood. His lips curved into a slow smile. ‘So she was a virgin… Innocent. Pure. And yet, last night she gave herself to me.’ His thoughts darkened, amusement flickering in his eyes. ‘Adorable. Seductive. Irresistible. She’s far more interesting than I imagined.’He picked up his phone again, scrolling through WhatsApp and SMS. Nothing. No word from her.His brows drew together. ‘So she left me just like that? After everything?’Leaning back, his smirk returned fa
"Can you work late tonight, Alexa?" Roger asked casually over lunch.Alexandra blinked. In the two months she had been his secretary, Roger Davenier had never once asked her to stay late."What's going on, Sir?" she asked cautiously."We're entertaining a client," he explained, his tone calm but firm. "This deal is worth hundreds of millions. If we close it, Victory goes international. We can't afford mistakes. It'll just be a drink or two."Her lips pressed together. With stakes that high, how could she possibly refuse?"...Alright."That evening, Roger's luxury sedan glided through Jakarta's night traffic, heading south toward one of the most exclusive rooftop bars in the city. Their American client-flying home tomorrow-was eager to make his last night unforgettable."I like this place," Roger remarked smoothly."Then I'll trust your taste," the man replied with a grin.Alexandra, calm and fluent, handled the little details-ordering, translating, keeping the mood light. Watching her
“Have you had lunch yet?” Diana asked, tilting her head.“N-not yet.”“Perfect. I haven’t either. Let’s eat together. Don’t worry, Mr. Davenier won’t get mad—as long as you keep your phone on,” Diana said with a warm smile.Truthfully, Diana had another reason. She wanted to spend some time with the girl who had somehow lasted this long as Roger’s secretary. Normally, no one survived more than a few weeks under his arrogance and sharp tongue. But Alexandra… she was different. She was tougher than she looked.Roger’s father had been the same—cold, distant, and utterly uninterested in women. Perhaps Roger had inherited more than just his sharp features from the man.Diana looped her arm through Alexandra’s and gave her a playful wink. Seeing Diana’s bright smile, Alexandra finally felt reassured. Her boss would survive without her for just one meal.Victory’s office building stretched seven stories high. The cafeteria was tucked on the first floor, reserved for employees only and run by
