Kieran POV

She threw her hands at me, but I held them in the air and pushed her back down, showing how weak her defense was. She even attacked without holding herself down.

“You need to sit down and listen to me. You’re a member of this family. You’re a  Blackwood, so act like i.!” My dominant voice sent her to the right door. She wanted to be far away from me.

“I don’t know why you did what you did. You took out my SIM card and tossed my phone. Come on, who does that to a wife? If I were the wife and I did this to your phone, what would you do?” She sobbed as she showed me both hands; she folded them into fists, but she knew better than to hit me.

I’d make her look weaker than before; I might even try to snap her hand a bit.

“You don’t know how to throw punches, which means you don’t even know how to defend yourself. There’s a lot you need to learn, Lyra, and I’d get you a new phone before you wake up tomorrow morning. Are you hungry?”

“Don’t ask me a question you know the answer to.” She hissed, I knew she wasn’t hungry because she had to her satisfaction,n and that was enough for her.

Returning to the house with Lyra is going to cause a lot of reactions, especially with my father, because he’s going to start putting the pieces together to figure out why his son is with another lady.

“Lead her to my room,” I ordered one of the guards before turning to my father at the dining table.

“I have to be sure that you returned to the castle in one piece.  Is that one of the whores you brought from that brothel at the outskirts of this pack?” He uttered under his breath, I was only relieved that she wasn’t here. She’s lucky that I didn’t see her, or else I’d have made her repeat those words before the council.

“First of all,ff she’s not a wh, ore and secondly, you love going to the brothel,l but I’m the opposite of what you are.”

“Are you trying to insult your father?” He replied to me with a question, but I wanted to know exactly what Valeria said to them.

“So you’ve been making plans with Valeri,   and you refused to tell anyone about it. Valeria told us that you both have planned an expensive trip outside this pack, and not only that, but you both are making plans for marriage.” My father’s words amused me. I wonder what his reaction would be when he figures out that I’m getting married to Lyra and not Valeria.

She adds no value to my life, all she do it take and doesn’t have the caliber to work for her wealth. She’s depending solely on her inheritance, and I wonder how her father copes with her.

I remembered the first time we had a date, she made me spend so much that I had to reflect on whether leaving the house was the right decision to make.  She loves a luxurious life and expects to always have a big bank account to grant that wish.

She’s never asked about my wins or my losses, but on Lyra’s first day at work, she saves me from making a wrong move.

“I didn’t even say a word to your father because I was so scared.” She mentioned that immediately I walked into the room, I could tell she was afraid.

“You don’t need to worry about my father; the only problem you’d have to worry about in this household is someone named Valeria.” I tried to embrace her, but she had both hands stretched out, revealing the distance she wanted to keep between us.

This isn’t part of the contract; she’s meant to be my wife.

“Is she your wife?” She inquired, scanning her eyes around the room at the pictures on the wall. I’d never keep Valeria’s picture in my room, it’s uncalled for, and it’s better off I keep a picture of Lyra on my wall rather than Valeria.

“If I were married to him,r you wouldn’t be here, you wouldn’t have the job I gave to you.” I avoided telling her that Valeria and I had some sort of connection in the past. It was not worth telling.

“So what’s the next play?” She asked as she pointed both hands to the bed; she wanted to know if she would be sharing the same bed with me.

“We’re married, so we have to share this bed.” I chuckled, wondering if she was acting this up.

“I can take the floor while you take the bed,d” She proposed, folding her arms and waiting for my response. I wondered why she wasn’t smiling.

“No one is sleeping on the floor, it’s big enough for four people, and we’re just two.” I declined her proposal,n and it made me wonder if she didn’t want my arms wrapped around her.

“This is the time to sleep, so I don’t want you touching me, please.e, I’d have to wake up early in the morning so we can both prep for work, since we have to take turns in using the washroom.” She got into the sheets and turned her back on me.

“The washroom is big enough for our kids and us. You don’t need to make a fuss about it because this isn’t Olivia’s rickety home.” I laughed it off the moment she turned to look at me directly.

“That’s my residence,e so don’t make fun of it just because you’re financially stable.” She let out a warning, keeping her eyes glued to me.

“I’m not financially stable, you know that, right?” I smirked, trying to reach for her arm when she pushed my hand back.

“You’re rich, you don’t have to rub it on my face.”

“You’re going to be rich too.” I tried to make her laugh,gh but she had a hardened look on her face. It looked like a wall that I couldn’t break at that time.

“By association. If I never agreed to that contract, I wouldn’t be here,e so I’m not rich yet.  I’m not independent like you.” Lyra was right, but deep down I wished she’d understand how much she makes me feel.

“You know the condition of the weather, yet you want me to beg you. It’s your duty to protect me, it’s stated in the contract, so you should open your arms and wrap them around me. Isn’t that right?”

“Is that an order?”

Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne

Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to

Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I

Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to

Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
