Chapter Five

Leah knocked at my door, and when she saw that I did not respond, she opened it and entered. I have been in my room since the last episode with Logan, and as usual, I have not set eyes on him ever since, not like I minded though. I don’t think I am ready to see him any time soon.

“You have been rejecting meals served to you, Alice.” Leah scolded. I hate that she sounds like that, as though she was referring to a teenager.

“I did not reject meals,” I grumbled reply. I wanted her to leave me the hell alone so I could have my privacy to myself, but it seems that I will always have the D’Nores in my hair. “What do you want?”

Leah ignored my question. “You have not been eating, can you explain why that is?”

“Nothing.”

Leah laughed. The kind of laughter that could drive one up the wall.

“You should stop rejecting meals and eat. You don’t want to look like a hungry bride on her wedding day.”

All my senses shot up with that information.

A wedding! A wedding!

“What?” Leah stared at me, “surely you are aware that you are getting married to Logan, right?”

“I…I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?!” Her eyeballs almost popped out in shock.

“No…I kinda know, just that…”

Leah heaved. “Don’t do that again.” Leah turned around, looking for nothing in particular.

Sometimes, I really like Logan’s sister, but sometimes too she can be a pain in the ass, just like her devilishly handsome Mafian brother.

Although anytime I remember Samuel, I get reminded that Logan D’Nores is the devil himself who callously took away the only family in my life, and that the only reason I am play-acting here is because I want to get my own revenge.

Logan D’Nores must pay for killing my brother!

“Anyway…” Leah continued. I could care less though. Who gives a fuck about any wedding?

“You really need to work up your appetite. We don’t want the entire New York City to go agog because the wife of the popular Logan D’Nores’s wife is skinny as a broomstick.”

She swallowed and continued, “And there are a couple of things you will need to learn before that day. Logan is not just a celebrity, but also one of Ney York’s finest most eligible bachelor, and he must get the best bride.”

Blah blah blah…

Leah sounded like an event planner herself with the way she kept going on and on and accompanying what she was saying with demonstrations.

Aside the notable features that she and Logan share, like the pointed nose, round and sumptuous lips and brown eyes that lit up in the sun, and could suck you in when they give you an intense gaze, Leah was a model.

She is not as tall as Logan, but she sure has been gifted with a good height and although slim waist, she has full hips and butt. When I first saw her, I envied her.

And she talked way too much!

I could pretend to be sleepy but Leah is a pushy person, and she would stop at nothing to get what she wants.

“You will need to visit the stylist. I have a couple of magazines that will be using you and Logan as their front cover for full week after the wedding.

A few dance steps to learn so that you won’t trip while dancing, or puncture my brother’s toes by constantly stepping on him.”

“I don’t like to dance.” I told her.

Leah was aghast. “You don’t like to what?”

“Dance.”

Leah rubbed her forehead; a sign that she was exasperated. It was another quality she shared with Logan.

“You can’t be serious, Alice.”

Says who? Since I can’t aggravate Logan, I might as well do so to you, not like you are my favorite person in the universe.

“Alice,” Leah called.

“Yeah?” I responded indifferently.

“Please, for the love of anything at all that you hold dear, bear in mind that you will be learning quite a number of steps. In fact, I am contacting your instructor right away!” Leah was already on her way out of my room.

Thank goodness! My insides screamed.

Well, from hunger as well.

Quickly, yet quietly, I got down from my bed and tiptoed to the kitchen to see if I can get something to throw into my belly, but Leah and Riley were in the living room.

God dammit! What is that bitch doing in Logan’s house again, and with Leah? Why is she entertaining Logan’s ex-girlfriend?

“She is a local girl,” Leah was telling Riley.

I ground my teeth in anger. How dare Leah?!

“But what did you expect? Logan left me for that thrash in the bin when I am clearly and obviously better.”

Ha! Take away your fake million dollar wig and all that make-up and you are as ugly as a duckling! Oh, how I wanted to tell her that.

“I might just hand her over to an event planner.”

Oh, even better!

Riley leaned in as if to whisper, but her voice was still loud enough for me to hear in the stairs. “Do you think he has fucked her yet?”

“Ew, I don’t want to even think of that.”

“Me too,” Riley agreed, but that was a blatant lie, because her forehead creased in worry.

I smiled, happy that Logan and I have had sex and a few kisses that went beyond thrilling and soul-filling.

“Do you think that…maybe…I can win Logan’s heart back?” Riley asked Leah.

Fat chance!

“You never had it in the first place, Riley.”

Ouch, that must have hurt, I laughed inside, especially as Riley’s colored face became as red as a beetle instantly. In that moment, I wanted to hug Leah and confess my undying love for her.

“What about Emma? I thought you both were vying for Logan’s attention.”

“Forget about her,” Riley said, hatred smearing her words.

Oh, I remember Emma, the screen goddess!
