Chapter Forty Five

Leah entered my room without knocking and dumped an IV on my bed that morning. I consider it rude. At first, she did not even have the courtesy to knock before barging in, and then jumping stuff on the bed? Since she arrived days ago, she has not said a word to me, and even when I heard her screaming her lungs out over the changed meals and referring to the ones I replaced them with as gutter-food after she was told that I made the changes, she did not confront me.

She was always having her meals earlier, or going to bed even before it gets dark. Tia suggested that she might be avoiding me, but then when I really thought of it, we have never been close friends…or friends at all.

“That’s an invitation to the Secretary-elect’s party,” she said, but I made no move to pick it up to look at it.

“Okay,” I said indifferently.
