“Woah dude… Breathe, they’re chosen family, not biological. We met in the Guild and chose to be each other’s family. We were all orphan girls and we clubbed together against the posh boys with rich families who would pick on us for being girls, orphans and poor. Charlie is a tall black Human woman, and Serena’s a tiny blonde Witch, and I’m some kind of Shifter, but I don’t know what kind.” Crow takes a second to calm down, then nods and retakes his seat,
“Sorry, I interrupted.” She nods, and turns back to Eddie. Her family could wait; they’d waited this long.
“Okay, Boss. So, this is the bank account when we showed it to you last, and this is today.” She looks at the screen, the numbers are way off. He’s been spending hand over fist. His hundreds of millions have dwindled to just over twenty million. She shakes her head,
“How does anyone spend that much money on anything?” She says, staring at the screen. “I know my maths isn’t great, but there are fewer zeroes

Eliza smiles and nods to Abimelech, he smirks and returns her nod,“Fine. You have my blessing. And the three of you have my blessing too, not that you need it, but I thought you might like it regardless.” She blinks, then looks at her men. Ash and Kai both incline their heads in deference, so she does the same, just going with the flow. She smiles at him,“Thank you, Sir. I’ll update you as we find out details.” He nods, stands and leaves. “Okay. I need to fix the distillery downstairs while I’m here, it shouldn’t take more than five minutes.” Crow and her men nod, and all follow her to the basement. Ash helps her by passing her the things she points at, and Kai bends a piece of stubborn copper for her. Crow stands and watches them, she can feel him studying her, but ignores him. She knows he’s only curious.Five minutes later she looks at her work, tapping a gauge to see if the needle moves. When it does, she nods, and they traipse back upstairs to find Molly.
Eliza smirks at Crow’s air quotes around the phrase ‘orange-eyed bitch’. But nods sympathetically when he mentions his wife leaving to go home when she needed to. She furrows her brows,“Okay, so have you been in the country this whole time, since Mother died?” He shakes his head,“I was here for three years after I found Marla, my wife was only here for one, then I went home to her. I met Mason by chance, seven years ago in a bar I frequent in NOLA. He was there on business for Sansom. He got exceptionally drunk, and started ranting about how much he despised this woman with orange eyes. I plied him with more drink, sympathising with him, until he let everything slip. The details he gave me, made me certain it was you. So, I volunteered to join him and meet his boss.” She smirks,“Interesting. He’s just as talkative now, just my being in the room scares him into singing like a fucking canary.” He raises an eyebrow, “He’s safely ensconced in my basement at the m
Eliza sits between Ash and Kai, with their father Abimelech opposite her. And the man she’s eager to talk to, Crow next to Abimelech. Eliza runs a hand through her curly ginger hair, which is still damp from the shower, and scratches at her undercut. She shifts in her seat, her being overweight and full of curves might be exciting for her mates, but it’s still annoying sometimes. She’s five-six, with an oval face and wide bow-shaped lips and a small straight nose. She takes a breath, and sighs. She remembers she’s the head of the Assassin’s Guild of England. The Boss. She has her mates either side of her, Asher and Malachi Wild, heirs to the vampire throne of England, and their father the King is sitting at the table with them. Crow won’t be able to hurt her if he tries. He doesn’t seem interested in hurting her, she glances at her men.Asher and Malachi are identical twins, and are both six-one, athletically built men, with th
“Hello. I’m Eliza, a pleasure. Alphonse Crow, wasn’t it?” He nods,“Yes, ma’am.” He had a deep voice, with a strong deep south accent. At least he was polite. “Might I ask what this is regardin’? His majesty was a little light on the details.” She smirks,“Of course. We know you’re working for Sansom, and I have a suspicion that you don’t want to die.” He blinks,“That fucker? I’ll give you everything, if you’re gonna kill the bastard. Please, I’m only looking for someone. I’d heard he might know her, and by the Gods, I don’t have anywhere else to look. It’s been so long.” He takes off his hat, putting it on the table. And runs a hand over his head. Eliza narrows her eyes at him,“So, who are you looking for? Maybe I can help, I know a lot of people.” He nods,“A girl, well, a woman now I suppose, if she’s even alive. She’d be around thirty-six, I think. Orange eyes, sort of, dark-green around the edges, and orange in the middle. They glow, flickering gently.” Gods, he was looking for
“So, Celine showed me a couple of things, but the thing that made me sad was our mother’s deathbed.” Ash looks at Kai who frowns, but nods. “She wanted to prove that she could see my past. Even the bad bits we’d rather not share.” He sits down in the chair, too far away. She narrows her eyes and purses her lips. “It was as I remembered, but I was an observer, separate from my past self. Able to walk around the room.” Kai raises an eyebrow,“That sounds weird.” Ash nods, and rests his elbows on his knees and clasps his hands together,“It allowed me to remember details I hadn’t before. We were both wrapped up in our own grief so tightly that I couldn’t remember our mother’s last words to father.” He repeats them for Kai and Eliza. She looks at him, stunned. Kai puts a hand over his mouth, clearly having a moment. Ash looks sad, but also relieved, as if a weight has been lifted. He looks at Eliza, “We loved our mother, but it hit Seth so much harder than us. We had each other when our f
