Travis led Susan around the log pack house which consisted of a huge dining area filled with tables as you entered the door, and extended to the left. Behind the dining area was a large kitchen full of Omegas buzzing around cooking and putting final preparations in place for the BBQ. The kitchen had all Stainless steel countertops, two double ovens, four sinks in a row against the back wall, and an industrial sized dishwasher to help speed clean up. Smoke could be seen through the back windows and Travis noticed Susan looking. “There is a huge attached deck full of picnic tables out back. I’ll show you when we’re done in here.” Travis smiled and h
Being a werewolf, Susan had never been afraid to eat. Wolves have a higher metabolism than humans and the change which she would be undergoing for the run tonight, took a lot of energy and thus calories. Susan loaded up her plate with food and went back over to help Alpha Gannon and Luna Caitriona with the pups. The last several days the pregnancy had been catching up with Cat, so Susan wanted to do all she could to help out. When Susan arrived back at the table, Cat was sitting with Theo, and Gannon had the other three up at the food line. Amazingly, the twins were holding their own plates and walking along like big kids for Dad. Susan offered to hold Theo so Cat could
Gannon moves over to the spot Travis just vacated, leans into Susan, and whisper-shouts, “what was that Susan? I asked you to befriend him. That sure as hell didn’t look like friendly behavior!” Gannon rarely swore, so both Susan and Caitriona knew Gannon was upset.Susan sighed, rested her elbow on the table and placed her head in her hand.
Travis was in the kitchen putting away food, washing dishes, wiping counters, etc.. generally this was all work the Omegas would do tonight after the run or tomorrow morning after or before breakfast. Travis figuresd he would help out, and it was a good excuse to stay away from Susan. Travis was so unsure what to do about her. Travis’s wolf was so drawn to her, but the feeling didn’t appear to be mutual. Travis knew he could only do so much. He could not force her to like him, it had to be her choice. Of course that was the hardest part… Travis could smell that she was responding to him, and yet she denied it, but why?
Still standing in the pack house kitchen, embracing each other and lip locked, Susan pulls back slightly and meets his eyes. They are both breathing heavily but smiling. “I may very well be your mate? Are you sure?”Travis grins before speaking, “Well pretty lady, time will tell.”
“You say they’re human, Hmm?” Travis clarified. Susan nodded in response but studied Travis, wondering why he asked that. “There was a human man following me at college this week. I introduced myself and he about shit himself.” Travis laughed.Putting her palm on Travis’s cheek, she looked him in the eye and said, &ld
Travis led Susan out by her hand. Susan was nervous and realized Travis was making a statement to the pack that she was with him and unavailable to the other young werewolves. Unsure how to process that Travis was claiming her, Susan kept her head bowed and her eyes to the ground as she went back to where Cat and Gannon were sitting. Gannnon ran to the car and grabbed her bag with sweatshirt and sweatpants for after the run. Taking the bag from Gannon, Susan thanked him.
Just as Travis was impressed by Susan’s beautiful wolf form, Susan thought Travis’ huge, mostly silver wolf interspersed with black hairs and a slightly brown underside was the most magnificent thing she had ever seen. Travis, Gannon, and Trayvon were all about equal in size, but larger than all the rest of the wolves. There was no doubt who the Alphas were.
The pack doctor was waiting in the first aid room at the pack house, but even rushing Alpha Trayvon into surgery to retrieve the bullet wasn’t enough. Dr. Hanson came out to deliver the news to Travis as Pauline was still unconscious. “The bullets appear to have been silver and laced with wolfsbane to increase bleeding, prevent shifting to heal, and make the poisoning more effective. Since the shot entered Trayvon’s heart, it was only a matter of time because the silver and wolfsbane were both pumped through his body once they entered his left ventricle. We removed the bullet in a last ditch effort to save Alpha Trayvon, but he succumbed to his in
