LOGINAlexa Ethan’s phone rang, causing him to walk back as though he had just realized what he was doing. Even I, at some point was lost in it, I stood there waiting, and half hoping he was really trying to kiss me. But now, how can I be sure when he throws me a disgusted glare and walks out the door, greeting Chloe? “Shit, we need to remain focused” I said to myself as I went ahead to sit on the bed. There’s no way I can spend the night here anyway, I brought no extra clothes. But a few minutes later, Ethan had returned with shopping bags, he threw one over to me, before settling on the couch, and I checked for myself. I didn’t want to speak to him; no amount of talking would make me understand him. So fine, if my boss said I should sleep in the same room with him, then fine, if he says he doesn’t give a damn about me, fine, if he says he won’t help me out with my father’s case, fine. But I will fish out the killer myself, and if it is him, I will forever curse myself for loving him.
Ethan The sight before me sent chills down my spine. It wasn’t what I was expecting as I had to go search for Alexa since she’d been out for too long. Ella, the young daughter, lay frail on the bare floor as though she was about to completely lose consciousness. “I didn’t mean to,” Alexa muttered, her voice cracking. She was visibly shaking, her eyes on Ella. I walked in and pulled her close into a hug without thinking, breaking the boundary I was supposed to be strict about. “I know you are innocent. I’ll handle this.” She shivered violently against my chest, her tears soaking into my shirt. It felt good to have her in my arms, which is a questionable feeling. This isn’t the first time I’m hugging her, yes, it’s been long, but not that long to make my heart skip more than two beats at a time. “They will, t-they-”“They won’t do anything. You need to calm down, Alexa, you’re still on medications. C’mon let’s head out.” I said as I pulled out a phone, ringing the security. We ha
Alexa She let out a brief laugh in disbelief. “You really did return, desperate to take what’s not yours, huh?” She catwalked, staring me down as though trying to degrade me. I almost felt my confidence being stripped away, just as when I was younger, Chloe knew just what to say to Ethan to make me feel less of myself. But unlike the past, Ethan stayed quiet, as though he also wanted me to be humiliated. I needed to step up for myself. “I thought you were going to die out there, so sad you won’t be able to join your father.” She clicked her tongue shaking her head. “I most certainly do not need you pity, and I have no wish to join the dead. Actually, I have quite the-” “Leave.” A knife stabbed my chest at Ethan’s disruption, his voice cold. I could also feel his hard gaze on me, meanwhile, Chloe was smirking with victory. “Chloe,” Now it was Chloe who was utterly shocked. “I need to have a word with my PA.” Chloe chuckled in disbelief. “You are joking, right? She’s still you
AlexaI watched Ethan turn his back and walked out of the room as though he hadn’t stayed by my side all through waiting for me to wake, as though he wasn’t by my side begging me to stay awake. Bullshit, he could be doing all this out of guilt. But that’s what aches my heart more, if he did this out of guilt, because he knew what happened to my father, or…was he the one who-Shit. It even hurts to think that he’s the one. I tried to let out the frustration gnawing within me with a sigh, but it wasn’t working; I was still stressed. It makes perfect sense that Ethan doesn’t want me to know. Why else would he kill the man who attacked me? He didn’t want me to dig deep. I mean, there’s no way he was that blinded by worry or anger that I was hurt. My heart beats for him, but I know for a fact that the highest emotion he can feel towards me is pity. The door eases open, causing my attention to shift once more, expecting Ethan to walk in, but instead, a petite woman with her familiar brow
Ethan Something is wrong“Where are you going to, Ethan!” I ignore Chloe and get down the car. “Take her home, don’t let her out of the car till you are back at the house.” I order the driver, before walking back to the hall, except this time, I don't gett inside the hall, instead I pull out my phone, ringing 911. “Please be okay Alexa.” I pick up my pace, walking into the thick woods. The sounds from the hall fading as I make my way with the dim light sticking out of thick trees. How do I know she’s in this woods? I sighted her hand purse the minute I got into the car. The gold purse laid on the bench close to the parking lot, certainly she can’t be that careless, besides she’s here for a mission. I'm deep in the woods when something catches my attention, his built is familiar, not just at the party, I can swear I've met him before, plus him standing, like he's towering over something doesn't lessen my suspicion. I try to make my presence less noticeable moving between the tree
Alexa “She’s my date” My heart literally jumps when his hands wraps around my fnger, and pulls me away from behind Ethan. But it does calm everyone down and diverts their attention as he pulls me away from the crowd to the exit. I got my wish answered but at what cost? Because Ethan’s eyes is burning my back, I can feel it as we make it through the entrance, hands interlocked with a stranger I've barely known for an hour. “Are you okay?” Will asks, though I nod, I certainly am not, I am drenched, my plan is ruined, above all, I've lost my face before the people I badly want to get revenge on. “Do you want to come with me? To clear your head?” I shake my head, after all I barely knew him, he wasn’t even among the the list of people in the file I had studied.“I’ll wait here for my Boss.” “The same boss who let you get harrassed like that? If you ask for my opinion, no one there wants you around, their hate is so visibe, it’s dangerouns working with the Bouchards too,” Ethan d
