Chapter 3-I'm sorry!

"What!"

"Are you happy or sad? Cause I can't understand your expression?" Maggie uttered nonchalantly.

"Ma'am Maggie, you really can't do this to me!" Cassie yelled, with her eyes welled up with  tears. Does Ma'am Maggie really hated her that much that he wanted to kill her before her time.

"Why are you so scared of him? He wouldn't do anything to you. Kelly has been serving him for the past 5 years now and he has not even looked at her. Like what kind of man in his right senses will not fall into temptation after seeing an angel and beauty like Kelly." Maggie paused for a while and continued. "Don't misquote me Cassie, our boss is a unique man so he doesn't fall into the category of men who are not in their right senses." Maggie added immediately. The last thing she wants is being fired from her job.

She was right, like why would he notice and ugly duckling like her but still she couldn't take the risk, like why is all this happening to her out of all days, why lord!

"But still, Ma'am Maggie. I'm sure there are other workers who are willing to go and replace Kelly but I can't, please Ma'am Maggie." Cassie uttered in tears, kneeling before Ma'am Maggie, as tears fall from her eyes .

"Well, no one was willing to serve him in the first place except Kelly but since Kelly is not here and you are the only one available now, you have no other choice but to go."

"I also rejected, right? Please Ma'am Maggie. I'll do anything you ask of me but not this." Csssie stated, holding on to Maggie's left leg like her life depended on it, actually it did.

"There's nothing you can do Cassie and It's only for tonight, so stop acting like a crybaby and go serve boss his dinner. Please Cassie, don't ruin this for me." Maggie said firmly and stood up to leave.

"Also, if you ask Jackie to go instead of you, forget about your pay for this month, Cassie and I'm damn serious." Maggie stated and left the terrance without turning back to look at the crying and downcasted Cassie.

Cassie stood up, wiped away her tears and picked up the bucket filled with dirty water and headed to the kitchen with only five words replaying in her mind. "It's only for tonight, Cassie."

***********

Cassie got to the front of Alex's study room. After contemplating for up to thirty minutes whether she should ignore Ma'am Maggie's order and head back home but she knows that she'll be in big trouble of she dared to. She started moving to and fro in front of Alex's study room like a lost puppy.

She was ignorant of what to do, whether she should stay here still here came out or go inside to serve him instead.

After a few minutes of consoling her bad fate Cassie finally decided to go in.

She entered his office after knocking the door for up to 10 minutes but there was no response so she had no other choice but to go in.

Cassie entered into the room, that was surprisingly dark, way too dark. She tried looking for the switch but she couldn't find it.

"Sir Alex?"

"Sir Alex?"  Cassie called but there was no response.

She was about to leave when she noticed a painting on the wall, a painting of a girl.

She walked towards the painting, with the tray held tightly to her body. She stood before the painting and couldn't help but admire the amazing art in front of her. It was really out of this world. The girl in the painting was lying on the floor, she had a red gown on which spread through out the painting, the girl physique was so amazing and Cassie couldn't help but be jealous. She was sure that  the girl will be so beautiful unfortunately she couldn't see the girl's face since the girl was putting on a mask.

Cassie kept admiring the painting and it was as if the painting was drawing her towards it, she reached out her left hand to touch the painting, when she felt a cold sensation at her back. She doesn't need to be told twice for her to know that she was doomed.

"What are you doing?"

Cassie whole body went into alert mode and the tray in her hand fell down and broke into pieces.

"Ahh!" Cassie screamed with shock written all over her face. She was doomed. How could she be so careless out of all days. How can Ma'am Maggie still send her here after all her pleadings.

Alex walked to his sit, staring at the girl in front of him whose whole body was shivering and he was certain that a slight push will make her collapse.

"I don't repeat myself."

"I....I...clean this." Cassie stutters, her back still facing Alex as she bent down to pick up the broken glasses.

"It looks like someone cast a bad eye on her." Cassie mused sadly, her eyes welled up with tears.

"You still haven't answered my question." Alex stated placing his left leg on his right leg as he watched the girl in front of him like a predator, studying her every movement. Though he was fuming with anger cause she dared you touch his belongings but yet he waa still calm. "Is this what they call, calmness before the storm."

"Sir, I can explain....I was only trying to...." Cassie uttered to be cut off by Alex who was already losing his patience. She was acting way to timid, innocent, shy and naive and it was really pissing him off.

"I'm listening."

Cassie felt lost, for the second time in years. The first time was when her family died in a car accident, that day was when she became hopeless and made to know that there was a thing in this world called pain. She was lost in her thought and didn't notice when one of the broken pieces pierced through her skin which made her hand to bleed.

"Answer me!" Alex yelled, banging his hand on the glass table, he finally lost his cool.

"I'm sorry!"
