Chapter 7-Lazy Bone

Chapter 7-

Miguel walked around New York city, with an unconscious girl in his arms. There was a loud thunder followed by a thunder strike. The sky tuned pitch black, announcing to the whole world that it will soon start its heavy attack.

Miguel couldn't believe that he was doing this, he has never done this for anyone before. He should have just left her all alone and continue with his own usual business but he couldn't bring himself to do that. She looked so vulnerable and lost, she was so innocent and a part of him wanted to shield her away from this dangerous world, strange right?

He got to a particular street after walking for up to thirty minutes with the sleeping beauty still in his hands. He stared at the small building in front him that looked a bit out of place among the tall buildings in the area. He actually find her address in her belongings when she fainted of course and he couldn't probably take her to his house. That was the worst thing he could think of.

He walked slowly and calmly to the front of the apartment, he knocked on the wooden door twice before a worried Jackie appeared, opening the door to the house.

"Cassie!" Jackie exclaimed in worry, as she immediately opened the door wide open for an annoyed Miguel.

Miguel placed her gently on the wooden chair at a corner in the room. He studied the whole house like he was studying an important file.

"Thanks a lot,for bringing her home. I'll forever be grateful to you." Jackie said, bowing her head in a respectful manner. She'll forever be grateful to this man for bringing her bestie home, its rear to see people like him in the world again.

"Take care of her,  she might be injured." Miguel said calmly and left without waiting for her to reply. Jackie kept Staring at the stranger's silhouette till he disappeared into the thick darkness and coincidentally after he left the heavy rain started and turned the whole street silent.

Jackie closed the door before her and took care of Cassie throughout the whole night though she was still a bit curious about what happened to her best friend.

*************

Morning arrived as always, Cassie woke up due to the rays of sun shining at her. She woke up with a heavy headache. She looked around the whole room for any sight of her best friend but it looks like Jackie left already.

Cassie stood up and walked in to the bathroom. She was about to brush her teeth when she noticed a note pasted on the wall. It was from Jackie.

Cassie removed the note and read through the content. "Hey girlfriend, I hope you are fine by now. I actually don't know what happened to you yesterday but I'll be sure to hear the full story when I get back home."

Cassie stopped reading the note when the memories of last night came rushing to her like a wind and all the feelings she felt came back to her. She tried to stop the tears in her eyes from falling and she was doing a great job, doing it.

Cassie continued reading the note, "I hope you won't come late to work, that's if you don't want Ma'am Maggie to deduct your whole salary.

PS: Today is pay day baby."

"Ahhhh!"

Kai was working wholeheartedly on the computer, that he didn't notice the man that was standing behind him. He was completely lost in what he was doing, one because he needed to finish this work before his annoying boss came back.

Romeo meowed, which made Kai distracted from the work he was working on and turn to face the little guy.

"Why are you acting so annoying like your master. You should learn from me and don't act so stupid like your master, okay." Kai commented but as always Romeo ignored him and started walking towards him. Kai was a bit surprised but became more shock when the cat walked pass him. He gasped in surprise and turned to look at where the cat was heading when he saw the biggest shock of his life.

"Alex!" Kai exclaimed, not because he was afraid that Alex might have heard everything he said but because he was surprised that Alex came back so early even after leaving only just yesterday evening.

Kai has seen Alex in his worst state. He knows that Alex will only leave when he's trying so hard to calm himself down or trying to run away from something and will never come back till a week or a month after, so he's a bit surprised with the new changes. It couldn't be because of...

"I told you to work Kai and not to waste your time chatting with Romeo." Alex uttered, the first words that came out of his mouth after entering his study room.

"Tsk, that was his greetings? How rude, Alex." Kai mused frustratedly.

"Alex, after breeding you this far, do I also have to teach you how to greet? I thought you were smarter than this." Kai stated bluntly and Alex bodyguards though were staying guarded by the door, couldn't help but shake their head at the man's mouth, that can't control itself.

They all know that their boss wouldn't punish him, not reply to his annoying tantrums because of the love their boss had for him but still they couldn't help but pray that the ever annoying second boss of theirs wouldn't land in huge trouble.

Alex ignored Kai's words and sat on one of the couch present in the room, he sat there like the king he was, scrolling through the documents in front of him. Kai tried to divert his attention towards him but the guy wouldn't stare at him. Kai was frustrated when a light bulb appeared on his head, his lips curling up into an evil smile.

"Well Alex, Cassie wrote you a letter." Kai said, praying that his observations was true but he seems he was wrong cause the guy didn't even bother to look at him nor nod his head in agreement.

"Since you don't want it Alex, I'll just read it for you." Kai knew he was testing the wrong man but still he wanted to be sure whether he was right or wrong. He unfolded the letter and was about to read it when a cold voice stopped him in his action.

"Read that letter Kai and I promise to make sure you'll never speak again."

"Jackpot!"

Cassie sneaked into the mansion, praying wholeheartedly that Ma'am Maggie would be so busy that she would forgot she ever had a maid named Cassandra. Unfortunately for her, not all wishes come true.

"Welcome Cassie, I hope you had a wonderful night?" Ma'am Maggie asked sarcastically, which made Cassie stopped in her tracks. She doesn't need for anyone to told her she was doomed cause she was certain that she was. Why did she had to wake up late out of all days.

Cassie was tired of blaming herself and decided to push all the blame on the event that took place the other evening. The devil must be really planning for her to die of hunger but that wouldn't be happening anytime soon.

"Cat got your tongue?"

"Ma'am Maggie, I can explain. You see it wasn't actually my fault. I...." Cassie uttered but before she was given the chance to speak out her perfect lie, Ma'am Maggie interrupted her.

"So, it was my fault for hiring a lazy bone like you, Cassie. Right?"

"No, no Ma'am Maggie. I'm to be blame for this. You didn't make the mistake of hiring me. You see, it's just that life has a way of testing every individuals so...'

"Really?"

"Yes! Ma'am Maggie."

"Then why does it seems like instead of passing the test, you are always failing Cassie. Does that actually prove how dumb you are?" Maggie asked with a smirk on her face. She knows that Cassie might think that she hated her but to be frank she doesn't. Cassie is a good kid but the only thing she was lacking was standing up for herself.

"Ma'am Maggie I'm so sorry.",

"I know you are but in order for me to believe that you are truly sorry then congrats Cassie you just received your pay for this month."

"Ma'am Maggie!"
