The expressions on the faces of the vampires gathered a few feet away were filled with wariness, fear, anger, and hunger.

And right now, I had never been happier about the fear my name and being a hybrid evoked in them. I was perceived as an outsider and killing one of theirs doesn’t make it better.

“She’s gonna die if you don’t turn her.” A voice broke into my thoughts and I felt my lips twist into a scowl as I turned to him, “You just killed a true blood to save her so I reckon she must be that important to you.” His voice was laced with sarcasm as he took a stand in front of me.

My teeth ground even harder as his words sunk in. Oh fuck, I truly killed a vampire to save a human with Dhampirs and other powerful vampires as witnesses.

Is a mate truly that important for me to do such?

But they didn’t know she was my mate and I have no intention of making that known because it was the only way to keep her safe if she survives this.
