Daniel pulled the drawer of the bedside table and took out a pair of scissors instantly. The glint of the metal in the darkroom made her blood run cold. She thrashed her legs out and tried to move away as far as possible, the belt biting into the skin of her wrists, but it was no use. He already had fisted his hair with one tight hold.

As his actions were no longer a mystery to her, Miliani's tears flowed freely when he pulled her head by her hair. She rubbed her feet together out of absolute helplessness, her voice trembling, "No! Daniel.. please .."

He did not budge at her struggles .. neither did he give any attention to her pleas. He was thoroughly overconsumed by his deep, dark ferocity.

"Please don't do this," she begged with tears.

Just as the blades of the scissors touched her precious hair, she shook her head violently, panic overtaking her voice, "I didn't mean to. Please I'm sorry-"

"Shh!" Daniel silenced her, "Trust me.. this begging won't

Usually, at least one maid lingered around the house at this hour. Today... there was no one. Descending the stairs, she approached the door cautiously and peeked through the glass panel. Her brows knit in mild surprise, "Jovanno…?" She opened the door halfway. Jovanno stood there with an easy smile, hands clasped behind his back like an obedient child. He was dressed neatly and looked familiar as usual. "I hope I'm not intruding," he said quiet softly. "I rang several times." "I... No," Mili replied, confused more than alarmed. "I just… didn't expect anyone," She glanced behind him instinctively. "Is everything okay?" He nodded gently. "Yes. I was just spending some free time in the garden. Lucia mentioned you were alone today." That name tightened something in her chest. Mili

"Daniel…?" she whispered before opening her eyes and then she sat up in a rush. Panic surged through her before sleep could fully leave her eyes. The pillow beside her still carried his scent, but his warmth was gone already. She threw the covers aside, hastily slipping into her robe with trembling fingers, not even bothering to tie it properly as she rushed out of the bedroom. Her bare feet hit the cold marble floor as she ran toward the hall. And then her eyes found him. Daniel stood near the widely opened door, already dressed up as usual, phone in one hand and Lucia was in front of him. They were speaking softly about something. Mili's breath hitched. Her heart slammed so hard at the scene that it hurt. For a second, she just stood there, frozen, watching the scene she had feared all night. He's ready to leave. He's wit

    • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Mili couldn't help but clutch the door of their bedroom as she ran back, driven only by sheer helplessness. She couldn't stand there anymore… not when her eyes were already damp with tears. She muffled her sobs as best as she could, but the moment her feet crossed the threshold of the bedroom, they spilled out recklessly. She latched the door behind her and walked toward the mirror. A broken question rose from her aching heart as she looked at her reflection. 'When they got married, there was no love… and now, when they finally love each other, there is no place left for their marriage.' She loved her husband more than anything in this world, and she wasn't afraid to claim him anymore. But over the past few days, Lucia had subtly made her understand how Daniel's thoughtless, impulsive act of saving that maid's lover from the Romanos had exposed Mr Serrano's hidden loyalty to the Knights - a loyalty he had kept buried under his skin for

He carried her princess style with steady steps while his gaze remained only on her. "Daniel!" Mili gasped, clutching his shoulders. "People are still here..." "Don't care." His voice was a deep rumble of mischievousness and hunger. "Tonight’s ours." After reaching upstairs, he kicked open their bedroom door and dropped her onto the bed with a deliberate recklessness that made her squeal. Mili bounced against the pillows, eyes wide, heart racing. He clutched her ankle, pulling her closer but Mili resisted and tried to scramble away. "Don't you think I'll just give in like that!" Daniel smirked, stalking closer. "Bunny…" his hand shot out, catching her ankle and pulling her back with ease, "…if you want to play ...let's play." His fingers found her sides, and he began tickling merci

Laughter and noises of celebration rushed through the hall even from the people who wanted nothing but Serrano's death and eventually Daniel's downfall. Lorenzo Romano was too proud to be present at this celebration. Antonio didn't let his son Jovanno attend this evening. But the others were present. Mr. Serrano, Daniel and their men remained stable when it was the time to greet the Romanos, maintaining the facade of their dirty politics. The orchestra swelled as Daniel pulled Mili closer. Their bodies were finding rhythm under the chandeliers. The marble floor glimmered like liquid beneath their feet though Mili had never danced before. She was following Daniel's lead, and surprisingly, their bodies rhythmically moved along with the beats of the music. "What colour is victory?" Mili asked in a secret breath against his shoulder. Daniel's lips formed a slow and knowing smirk. "Red. Obvi

    • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •The balcony doors stood open, letting the cool Sicilian night air curl into the space. Beyond, the yard was a black sheet with faint glimmers of moonlight scattered like broken glass. Daniel stood there with a cigar between his fingers, awaiting his friend, but lost in his mind. Lucia stepped in quietly with two mugs in her hands. "Coffee?" she offered softly, placing it on the marble railing. Daniel leaned against the railing, his sleeves rolled up, that cigar burning low between his fingers. "No." Lucia smiled faintly. "You used to take it black. Every morning. I recalled because I taught her." She gestured toward the room in the distance where Mili had been kept moments ago. "Miliani. I showed her some videos about how you like it." Daniel's eyes flickered, "And?" "And..." Lucia said, folding her hands before her, "Your wife is very transparent. She wears her heart on her sleeve. A girl like that can't hide what she feels."
