로그인ONE YEAR LATER He was out. Leo couldn't believe it. After over one year, he was finally free from those walls. From the frustration that came with it.The mental, emotional and physical trauma. He had no idea how people who got out of jail still committed crimes that'd take them back to that place.Because after that experience, he didn't see himself doing anything that'd make it repeat itself. He didn't even know how he could be stupid enough to end in jail in the first place. It was there that he realized he didn't even love Lisa as much as he had thought.Yes, he loved her a lot at the time, but when she broke his heart, he was ready to move on. If he hadn't been stupid enough to listen to Cassie, he wouldn't have had to waste a whole year of his life. Now… he just wanted to start afresh.Start a new life.“Where are you going to, dressed so neatly?” His friend, Josh, who'd been nice enough to accommodate him after he got out of jail, asked when Leo walked out of his room in his
“Pregnant?” The one word came out as more of a squeal. “Are you serious?” Richard jumped to his feet, voice filled with awe.Lisa nodded with a huge grin, standing at the same time Drex did. “Yup. Imogen's gonna be a big sis.”“Oh my gosh, congratulations!” I rushed over to throw her in a huge hug. “Congratulations, Liz. How long have you known?”“I literally just found out today.”“Woah. This is… This is amazing.” My lips spread to a wide smile. My sister was pregnant again. There'd be another baby in the family.I giggled. “Woah, this is such great news. I don't even know what to say.”“I'm so happy for you.” Richard appeared beside me. “This is really beautiful. It's definitely made my day.”“Mine too.” And I meant it. I loved children, and the thought of her having one made me excited. But deep down, something settled within me.A feeling.I pushed it away, not ready to let it ruin my mood. Not now.Not when Lisa was beaming so much. This was her moment. And I was going to celeb
A drop of tear escaped, rolling down my cheek.I wiped it before it could reach my jaw, biting my lower lip to hold back more from spilling. This wasn't the life I'd envisioned. It wasn't how I'd expected things to be.If anyone had told me five years ago that my sister and my niece would be kidnapped or that Leo would be imprisoned for doing just that… I'd have argued.I'd have laughed with anyone that says I'll be diagnosed with cancer in just a few years. But look at it. At all that had taken place.I drew in a large amount of air, before my feet moved.I left the police station, back to my car.As I started it and drove off, I didn't look back. But I did wonder something… I wondered if there'd ever be a time I'd see him again.I knew I wasn't going to visit him any more (not after considering all he did), and our friendship was never returning. So was this the last time we'd see each other? My chest tightened, hurt by the thought alone. It was the only thing on my mind when I stee
“Leo.” The word was low, barely above a whisper.I didn't know how long it had been, but this looked nothing like the man I once called my best friend. There was a different kind of hurt on his face when he stared at me, but he said nothing.I'd been preparing myself for what to say all day, but standing here… there were no words.Where do I even begin? What do I say to someone I spent five years calling my best friend.“How-How are you?” I stuttered out.He shrugged. “Existing,” then his gaze shifted to my hair and he asked, “How are you?”My hand lifted to the top of my hair as a small smile spread up my lips. “Cancer free.”His shoulders relaxed a little. Just a little, but I noticed it. “That's a relief.” And he sounded that way.Like he had spent so many hours worried about that. “Anything else?” He asked.“Well… Richard and I have gotten back together and he's quit his job to live here fully with me.”That actually made him smile. “Oh? You must be happy.”“Yeah. It's nice havin
“Oh my goodness.” His hands flew to his hair, while my breath caught in my throat as I stared at the word again and again.I had to pick up the other stick, and there it was. The same word.“You're pregnant.” His voice echoed with complete disbelief. “You-You’re really… Oh my gosh.”“I…” had no idea what to say.Or how to even feel. This was my second pregnancy, and believe me when I say I was in almost as much shock as I'd been when I found out about Imogen. My hand touched my belly at the same time Drex laughed loudly, pulling me in for a big hug. “Lisa! I'm not dreaming. This is real!”I laughed as well. In fact, I laughed so hard, my eyes filled. “Yes. Yes, we're gonna have another baby.”We were going to raise another generation! After six years, I was going to give birth again!~– Rachel Red –Being cancer free was still one of the best things that had ever happened to me.Sometimes, I'd sit at home and wonder what my life would be like if things hadn't been different. If the c
Pregnant? I wasn't sure, and heck, I definitely didn't want to jump into any conclusions. Still, I wouldn't act like it wasn't a possibility. Not with the late sleeping and fatigue. I didn't remember much of how I felt before I found out I was pregnant for Imogen then, but I had a little memory of being tired. My hand dragged through my hair that afternoon. I didn't even bother to finish my food, and instead left the dining area, up the stairs to the room where I changed into something better, then brushed my hair, leaving it to fall down my shoulders before I grabbed my car keys and was off. I drove to the store, bought about four pregnancy test sticks, but didn't do any when I got home. I wasn't sure what the answer would be, but I knew Drex should know. If this was negative, then okay, we move on. But if it turned out to be positive, then he had as much to do with it as I did. I could be certain my sanity was being tested each second that passed with him still not home.
