Taylor POV
I woke up bolting straight up in bed. Looking over I let out a sigh of relief seeing Lucas asleep beside me. My sudden movement had him frowning but his eyes remained closed. I wanted to shake him awake and demand he tell me what had happened but he looked so peaceful I couldn’t.
Reaching onto the nightstand I went to check the time but was flabbergasted by the amount of missed calls and texts I had from my mom. Sighing I closed my eyes. It must be all over the news for her to be calling. Opening my phone I scanned through my text. She was worried, she thoughtt I had gotten myself in over my head and didn’t know how to reach out for help. She had basically begged me to call her so she would know I was ok. Her voicemails were all the same.
Slipping out of bed I went to the restroom leaving my dress a puddle on the floor as I stepped into the shower. Taking my time I tried to gather my thoughts as I washed my hair and tried to let the hot wa
I had bacon and sausage on the skillet and was buttering a ban for biscuits when Lucas walked in flanked by police. O’Grady eyed me but I only looked at Lucas giving him a confused look as I began placing the biscuits on the pan. “Is everything ok?” I asked playing dumb, I knew we weren't supposed to know that they had been on their way.O’Grady didn’t give Lucas a chance to answer, “we have a warrant to search the premises. If you know of anything that could potentially put you in a bad situation I’d suggest you come clean now.”Lucas took his spot behind me and I shrugged, “I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about but you are more than welcome to stay for breakfast.”I heard Lucas chuckle moments before O’Grady snapped his eyes up, “Have it your way, Ms. Andrews. Officer Barfield will stay here with the two of you while my officers continue their search. Step foot out of here and I’ll have you tied up all day at the station Blake.”Turning my h
I knew from the moment that Lucas pulled up to the front of the hotel he had booked us that it was lavish. He had booked us a suite and I couldn’t wait to see what it looked like. It was already dark and from the hotels' location, we would be able to see all the bright lights of the city. I could see them from my apartment but not like this, not this close, not these buildings. On the elevator up, Lucas stood slightly behind holding our bags.“Do I still scare you, Taylor?” His breath was at the nape of my neck and all I could do is nod my head yes. He chuckled, “I can never figure out if that’s a good thing or a bad thing with you.”Tilting my head to look over my shoulder I looked up at him, “me either Lucas, me either.”Smiling down at me he nodded as the door popped open in front of us. As he opened the door to our suite my mouth hit the ground. I had never stayed anywhere this nice before. It was....it was beau
The next morning I awoke to an empty bed. I hated it when he got up before me. Unfortunately, that was more days than I’d care to admit. Lucas was some weird morning person while I was like a zombie first thing in the morning. I could hear him downstairs talking and assumed he was on the phone but couldn’t be for sure. Deciding to go to the bathroom and freshen up I grabbed some clothes out of my bag and headed to take a quick bath.Once bathed I dressed in a pair of black skinny leg jeans and a black and white striped long sleeved shirt. Brushing my hair I decided to forgo makeup at least for now and headed to the rail looking down. Sure enough, I could see Lucas sitting at that kitchen bar drinking coffee and arguing with someone on the phone. Frowning I twisted my hair into a bun and decided to go downstairs for coffee. As I hit the bottom step I paused. Lucas’s back was to me and I couldn’t see his face but I knew he was pissed. Slowly walki
After Lucas left I didn’t really know what to do so I gathered the trays from our breakfast and sat them outside to be picked up. When I was done I sent Lucas a text simply saying “I’m sorry,” but he didn’t reply. It aggravated me because I felt like I was always the one making sacrifices in what I wanted and he couldn’t even acknowledge that I was trying to make peace between us.When David came around two to drop my laptop off I blocked his way out. “So he is still mad?”David looked down at me sighing, “Taylor, Lucas has a lot going on right now. He’s being drug in and out of the police station, he’s at war with your brother’s gang, not to mention the normal crap with the club. I know you don’t like to hear it but Lucas has a whole crew of men running the streets under him, he’s used to chaos. I think he just wants to come home to peace.”I looked down, “we got int
As I sat across from Lucas’s desk I watched as he worked on some files. I wondered not for the first time exactly how dangerous of a person he really was. He must have felt my gaze because he sighed looking up, “so have you made a decision or not?”I frowned, “a decision?”He shook his head, “I told you before I left you needed to make a decision about what you want. I would assume or rather I would hope since you left the apartment, without telling anyone might I add, and came here that you decided to stay.”I sighed, “you know I’m not going anywhere, Lucas.”He arched his brow, “I know no such thing, Taylor. I know that I just risked an assault charge over you even though I still have no idea if you are in this for the long run or not.”Leaning back in my chair I took a deep breath, “you are a lot to take in Lucas. You can’t tell me that if things were the other w
As I walked through the garage door at Lucas’s house I was amazed at how well the cleaners did while we were gone. Walking in I turned around, it was like nothing had ever happend. There wasn’t anything out of place. Well, there wasn’t anything out of place until I walked upstairs and noticed things from my apartment mixed in with his. I pulled my phone out of my pocket about to call Lucas but set it back down. I had told him I would move in with him I just didn’t think he would do it on his own, I should have known better. On the bed lay three boxes of varying sizes. I opened the biggest first to see a long black dress with a plunging v neck. I never knew what to expect from Lucas but I had to admit he was getting better at picking things that I actually liked. The next box contained a pair of black strappy heels that were to die for. I felt like I probably could open up my own shoe store now just from what he had given me. The last box contained a pa
I had remained downstairs far longer than I had wanted to. Even still it was barely 45 minutes before I ended up walking to his office. I had hoped Tre would come for me sooner rather than later but that didn’t appear to be the case. Why did I have to be here, we had already been seen together and no one would see me upstairs in his office.Sighing I collapsed down in his chair spinning in it. There wasn’t much for me to do, I couldn’t get on his laptop or his desktop because I didn’t know the passwords since he had changed them. His desk drawers were locked so no snooping for me. Spinning around again I stopped looking at the bookshelf to the right of his desk. Frowning I moved closer picking up a picture I had never noticed before. It was an old picture of a woman and a young boy standing beside her. Although I couldn’t be certain I assumed it was Lucas and his mother. I had no clue what happened to his family, he was so secretive I didn’
I woke up to the sound of beeping. I felt like I had been hit by a car and well I guess I technically had. As I tried to sit up my head started spinning and I realized I was hooked up to an IV. Turning my head I looked for Lucas but the room was dark and empty.Trying to sit up again I groaned, my muscles were stiff and each move I made hurt. The door opened and a nurse walked in. “Ms. Taylor I’m glad to see you awake. I’m your nurse, my name is Heidi. How are you feeling?”I laid back looking at the ceiling, “horrible,” I mumbled, “where is Lucas?”Heidi smiled at me, “you were in a pretty bad wreck but you came out without too much damage. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your pain? With one being not very much and ten being extreme.”“7,” I said watching as she jotted it down before taking my vitals. “Is Lucas ok? Where is he?” Gasping I lifted my hand to my mouth
