LOGINMEGAN'S POV
I had just started working, so I had to work hard without my status as the Moon Heiress or the Alpha Queen as a stepping stone. My eyes were buried on the laptop on the desk and the files I kept flipping. However, my attention was drawn to the entrance as I heard the soft creak of the door. Immediately I turned my gaze to the door, and I saw my little boy peeping at me through the keyhole of the slightly ajar door. My face lit up with a warm smile. “Eleazar, what are you standing there for, honey?” I questioned with a smile. He reluctantly walked up to me, grinning from ear to ear. “Mom, you've been working since you got back. Why aren't you taking any breaks? Didn't you tell me that all work and no play makes one a dull person?” “You're right, son. Uhm… But Mommy has to work so that she can get you plenty of toys, isn't that what you wanted?” I patted his curly hair. Then he folded his hand and gave me a piercing glance. “Mommy, I want a daddy.” I choked. My heart raced. The day I've always feared like a plague. One that I've wished will never come despite knowing that it will eventually come. “W… What? Eleazar? Don't tell me you don't want Mommy anymore." “Of course not, Mommy. I'll always want you, but every other child in school has two parents. How would you even get me a dad if you keep staring at that blank screen all the time?" He shook his head. I sneered. “You little naughty boy.” I nudged him playfully, and he continued. “Mommy, I really like Uncle Lucien. He's cool, and he has really broad shoulders. The good thing again is, he plays basketball really well.” “Tell me, did he send you to come tell me these?” I squinted my eyes at him. Eleazar gulped hard. “No. He just wants to go out on an adult date with you. He bought me pizza and promised to let me play his video games, and all I have to do to claim these is to convince you. Pretty, please.” He held my hand, pouting his mouth in a bid to convince me. “Oh, Eleazar. You little betrayer, you'd sell off your mother just for pizza?” I playfully smacked him, and he ran off laughing. “Mommy, please just go with Uncle Lucien.” He shouted as he ran out of the door. Taking a deep sigh, I closed the laptop screen and got up from the couch. Maybe Eleazar is right; I should try to hang out occasionally. Without a second thought, I walked to the bedroom to get ready. Thirty minutes later, I was dressed in a simple but classy, short, white lace dress, a silver clutch, and white ballerina shoes embellished with diamonds. I took a last glance at the mirror, and with a slight nod of approval, I walked out of the room and headed down the stairs. Halfway through the stairs, I could hear Eleazar's little laughter and his chats with Lucien and Nathan. As soon as I got down the stairs, I met these young men engrossed in the games and their small chats. Hence, I cleared my throat noisily to notify my presence. They turned to me, and I could see Lucien's eyes grow in admiration. “You look absolutely astonishing, Meg," he stated, walking towards me, and my face beamed with a smile. Nathan cleared his throat, teasingly. “Someone finally agrees to step out. You did quite a good job convincing your mother, small man.” “Yeah, right.” Eleazar's little voice laughed as they high-fived. Ignoring them, I wrapped my hand around Lucien's arm as we walked out of the mansion. As we walked towards the garage, I inquired. “Where are we going, Lucien?” “Wherever you want, Meg. You just need to say the word.” He snapped, and I felt memories rushing back into my head. On that fateful day, it was my 2nd year anniversary with Austin. I had baked his favorite strawberry cake, like I always do, with two candles stuck on the cake. I waited for him, and eventually I heard his car honk. My heart skipped with excitement. I ran to the door and flung it open. He walked in without sparing a glance at me, like I didn't exist, as he handed his suitcase to me. I carried the suitcase and ran after him like a rabbit begging for fish. “Babe, it's our anniversary today. Look, I made your favorite cake.” “Oh, is that so? I see.” His voice was flat and emotionless, but I didn't mind. Could it be because I already got used to him sounding that way to me? Probably! “Baby, I was thinking, why don't we eat out?. You can take me on a date to make the anniversary unforgettable and…” I was still speaking with my expectations high up in the clouds when he coldly interrupted me. “Megan, can you try to be reasonable? All you think about is absolute nonsense. Well, what do I expect from a housewife who can't even be a Luna?” Words choked my throat. Tears pricked my eyes as I watched him kick against the table and the cake fell flat on the floor. He pushed the table away and walked away. I stood there. Rejected, abandoned, with tears streaming down my face. My hand reached for the ring I had worn around my neck… Our wedding band wasn't even my finger size. Then, I heard him laughing happily over the phone. Of course, I heard him clearly. “Oh, Kay. You never cease to amuse me.” Those words shattered my heart. I staggered to a couch and felt my heart ache, but I never stopped to hope and wish he could smile or laugh with me the same way he does with her. “Meg, are you okay? You look lost.” Lucien's voice smacked me back to consciousness, and I smiled softly at him with a nod. “I'm fine, Lucien.” He helped me get the car door, and I walked in. We sped out of the mansion afterward.MEGAN'S POV I held onto my head as I felt my eyes closing. My vision was blurry. “What did you do to me?”He cackled mischievously and sat down with his legs crossed. “Drink wasn't the only surprise tonight. Of course, I know you would find out that the drink was drugged.” Then, he pointed at the incense burner on the table, and I breathed heavily, trying hard to keep my eyes open. “That…. I already took the antidote, so it won't affect me or anyone in this room except you, Miss Prescott.” He laughed maliciously. “You're…. You're evil and don't deserve to live.” I managed to speak because I was almost losing my voice. He roared with laughter like I had just given him a compliment. “There's no need to act tough, Miss Prescott. Don't worry, I'll go gentle with you. Look at you now.” He snapped his finger, and everyone in the room left instantly. In the twinkle of an eye, the room became empty. Bending closer to me, he ran his fingers all over my body. “You look like a helpless litt
MEGAN'S POV I sat on the chair facing the desktop on the table, lost in thought and staring blankly at the screen of the computer. Then came a faint knock on the door of my office. I didn't even realize that the door of the office was swung open until Claire tapped the table and I blinked hard, turning to her. “Y… Yes?”“Miss Prescott, are you okay? You look lost, and that's bad for work.” She chipped in. I forced a smile. “It's nothing. How may I help you?” “Oh, you don't need to help me because you'll be needing a lot of that help for yourself.” She jokingly snapped. “I mean, as the project manager, you'll have to meet with Mr. Davison. He's quite a difficult man to please. You'll need him to sign, and then we can proceed with the other facilities.” She tried to sound caring, but in the real sense, it felt like she was mocking me.“Mr. Davison?” I mouthed with my eyes rolling. “Get me an appointment with him.” I readily replied, and she smiled mischievously.Picking up the files
AUSTIN'S POVI walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.” Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag. The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around
ALICE'S POV I drove into the mall and parked the car in the garage. Kayla and I walked into the mall laughing and chatting. However, our laughter was cut short the moment we sighted Megan shopping in the clothes section. Kayla scoffed in disgust as she cleared her throat noisily to get Megan's attention. Megan turned slightly with her face indifferent. “Oh, look who we have here. I wonder how many times you had to spread your legs to be able to afford that.” She pointed at the dress Megan was holding. Ignoring her, Megan rolled her eyes and proceeded to take out another dress from the display shelf. Furious, Kayla grabbed her arm rudely. “Hey. I'm talking to you.” “She thinks she can buy a discount dress at a luxury store.” I taunted, staring hatefully at her. Kayla and I laughed loudly. “And pretend to be a socialite.” I added.Kayla shook her head in a feign of pity. “You know what? It's actually kind of sad. You can put lipstick on a pig, but that doesn't stop it from being a p
MEGAN'S POV My words seemed to throw Austin off balance. He stared at me, blinking rapidly. I could almost hear his heart beating fast. “What do you say, Alpha Austin Sinclair? I thought you wanted to save your little dream girl? I don't have all the time in the world.”“No, absolutely not.” He finally blurted out, to my surprise. My eyes widened in astonishment. “What?” I snapped at him.He shook his head." I said, No. I cannot give up my position in the Wolf's Joint Empire."“Then, we have absolutely nothing to talk about, Mr. Sinclair.”I turned to leave, but Kayla's voice made me turn around. She ran straight to Austin, shedding her usual false tears—nothing new.“Austin, your ex-wife is so cold-hearted. You know how important this eatery is to me, don't you? Just because she's whoring herself to the Alpha Prince, she has succeeded in getting me thrown out of here.” Kayla sniffed pretentiously. I shook my head in disgust. A drama queen will always be a drama queen. Kayla sharply
MEGAN'S POVLucien and I were seated at a fancy restaurant with the piping hot delicacies served in front of us. I sipped the cocktail slowly as he started. “How is your new job treating you? You know you could have just started as the MD?” “I don't want that yet, Lucien. I just started, and I hope it gets better.” I simply uttered, spooning the creamy pasta into my mouth. After a few seconds of silence, with a worried voice, Lucien added. “How are you coping with your ex-husband?”I choked. My gaze went from the plate to Lucien. “He's working as a partner of the company. Of course, I'm there to do my job, which is precisely what I've been doing.”“Megan, if you can't cope with him around you, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll do anything and everything to buy the shares back from him and…” Lucien was determined, but I interrupted him softly. “You don't have to. Austin and I are divorced. Whatever we had was in the past. Now, we're just co-workers or partners in a business place. That
