LOGINMEGAN'S POV
I took a deep breath with my laptop clutched tight to my stomach. They must not find out who I truly am. After summoning courage, I walked into the conference room. Everyone was already seated and waiting for me, of course. I didn't even bother to raise my head because I could feel their eyes on me. Placing my laptop on the long, large table, I started with a soft voice and a forced smile. “Good morning, everyone. My name is Megan, and I'm the new project manager for the Wolf Estate project.” “Project manager? And you're just joining the meeting now? How unprofessional!” I heard one of the board members utter. I raised my head to stare and saw their cold face staring hatefully at me. I just came in, and they already dislike me? The executive investor on the other side was covering his face with the magazine he was reading. Hence, I couldn't see his face. Ignoring the brutal side talks, I continued with a smile on my face. “It's my pleasure to finally meet you…” I was still speaking when the executive investor placed the magazine he was reading on the table, and I choked as soon as I saw his face. “What…what are you doing here?” I asked in a calm but surprised tone once I saw Austin. “She is so dead.” I heard one of them say. Another continued. “Questioning Mr. Sinclair? That's more like a death wish.” With his legs crossed and his eyes filled with a mixture of surprise and interest, Austin started. “I own sixty percent of this company's shares.” Of course, the difficult investor is you. Oh, God! Why didn't I think of this? “Actually, I'm wondering. What is a wolfless omega like you doing masquerading as our chief project manager?” Hailey blurted out with a smug smirk as everyone gasped in both disbelief and shock. They exchanged glances at each other, like it was forbidden to say a word. “One with zero experience. How did she con her way into this position?” Another person snapped. Hailey continued in a colder voice. “I guess the Alpha Prince is a fetish for Omega tramps.” Angrily, I banged my fist against the table, and they flinched in panic. “Enough. Cut the crap. I'm here because I am qualified.” “Really now? Well, then prove it!” Hailey slid a penknife from her side of the table to mine. I stared at her with furrowed eyebrows. “Proof of what?” “It's easy. Since you claim that you're not wolfless, which means you're a full-blooded werewolf, cut yourself—a deep cut would count. If you truly are a full werewolf, you'd heal instantly.” She replied swiftly with her legs crossed. Reluctantly, I picked up the penknife. Of course, I would heal before a breath, but that would give out my ability to my ex-husband, who was sitting right in front of me, staring at me. “If I don't show them that I have a wolf, my career dies before it even begins.” I clutched the penknife tight as I stared at it with uneasiness on my face. Hailey snapped at me. “What are we waiting for?” I took a deep breath and proceeded to cut my palm, but Austin's voice made me freeze. “Don't.” Everyone turned their gazes at him, shocked. He probably has never cared about anyone or anything. Wouldn't it be a thing of joy for him to see me embarrassed? Why does it seem like he's caring about me? He got up from the seat and walked up to me. His expression was still as cold as ice. “If she's a con person, then telling her to cut herself won't solve the problem.” My eyes narrowed. What the hell does that even mean? “How so, Alpha Austin?” Hailey fired back, disappointedly. Austin continued. “Why don't I cut her instead? That way, we'll be sure that she actually cut herself.” Without a second thought, he snatched the penknife from me and grabbed my wrist, and then he cut it…. Everyone gasped. However, I felt no pain. Slowly, I opened my palm, and he took my palm and showed it to the board members. There was no wound. In fact, he didn't even cut my palm. “Look, the Alpha cut her, and her wound healed up. She really does have a wolf.” They mumbled to themselves while I stood there, speechless, and her gaze was steady on Austin. “Whoa, that deep gash healed instantly? She must have a powerful wolf.” The others continued. Austin actually did that to save me? When did he become so caring towards me? I turned my gaze back at him, and he winked at me, mouthing. “You're welcome.” Before heading back to his seat. Hailey stared hard at me, perplexed and silent. Taking a deep breath of relief, I continued. “Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Megan, your newly appointed project manager. I look forward to working with you all.” They applauded me. “And if anyone has a problem with a woman in charge, here's the door…” I pointed at the door while staring at Hailey, who avoided eye contact with me. “You're laid off.” Austin snapped. Everyone exchanged glances at each other, confused. Hailey freaked out instantly. “Guys, look, this witch must have used some sort of witchcraft. I'd be happy to throw her out for you.” “Get out. Now!” Austin ordered, and Hailey gulped hard as she quickly stood up, packed through files in front of her while giving me a deadly glare as she walked out of the conference room. Austin snapped his finger readily. “Carry on.” *** After the meeting, I walked down the hallway, relieved and excited, but someone stood in my path. I raised my head and saw Austin standing in front of me, staring. “What do you want?” My voice was calm but with no warmth. He held my hand tight, standing so close to me that I could feel his warm breath on my nostrils. My back was relaxing on the wall, and my eyes were avoiding every contact with him. “Tell me, Megan. How did you get to know all these things you talked about today? You and I know you never went to school or trained as a werewolf because you had no wolf, so how…?” “Stay away from me, Austin Sinclair. As far away as possible. No one must find out that I know you or that we had anything in the past. We're done; the earlier you accept that, the better for you.” I snapped, pushing him away as I ran off.MEGAN'S POV I held onto my head as I felt my eyes closing. My vision was blurry. “What did you do to me?”He cackled mischievously and sat down with his legs crossed. “Drink wasn't the only surprise tonight. Of course, I know you would find out that the drink was drugged.” Then, he pointed at the incense burner on the table, and I breathed heavily, trying hard to keep my eyes open. “That…. I already took the antidote, so it won't affect me or anyone in this room except you, Miss Prescott.” He laughed maliciously. “You're…. You're evil and don't deserve to live.” I managed to speak because I was almost losing my voice. He roared with laughter like I had just given him a compliment. “There's no need to act tough, Miss Prescott. Don't worry, I'll go gentle with you. Look at you now.” He snapped his finger, and everyone in the room left instantly. In the twinkle of an eye, the room became empty. Bending closer to me, he ran his fingers all over my body. “You look like a helpless litt
MEGAN'S POV I sat on the chair facing the desktop on the table, lost in thought and staring blankly at the screen of the computer. Then came a faint knock on the door of my office. I didn't even realize that the door of the office was swung open until Claire tapped the table and I blinked hard, turning to her. “Y… Yes?”“Miss Prescott, are you okay? You look lost, and that's bad for work.” She chipped in. I forced a smile. “It's nothing. How may I help you?” “Oh, you don't need to help me because you'll be needing a lot of that help for yourself.” She jokingly snapped. “I mean, as the project manager, you'll have to meet with Mr. Davison. He's quite a difficult man to please. You'll need him to sign, and then we can proceed with the other facilities.” She tried to sound caring, but in the real sense, it felt like she was mocking me.“Mr. Davison?” I mouthed with my eyes rolling. “Get me an appointment with him.” I readily replied, and she smiled mischievously.Picking up the files
AUSTIN'S POVI walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.” Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag. The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around
ALICE'S POV I drove into the mall and parked the car in the garage. Kayla and I walked into the mall laughing and chatting. However, our laughter was cut short the moment we sighted Megan shopping in the clothes section. Kayla scoffed in disgust as she cleared her throat noisily to get Megan's attention. Megan turned slightly with her face indifferent. “Oh, look who we have here. I wonder how many times you had to spread your legs to be able to afford that.” She pointed at the dress Megan was holding. Ignoring her, Megan rolled her eyes and proceeded to take out another dress from the display shelf. Furious, Kayla grabbed her arm rudely. “Hey. I'm talking to you.” “She thinks she can buy a discount dress at a luxury store.” I taunted, staring hatefully at her. Kayla and I laughed loudly. “And pretend to be a socialite.” I added.Kayla shook her head in a feign of pity. “You know what? It's actually kind of sad. You can put lipstick on a pig, but that doesn't stop it from being a p
MEGAN'S POV My words seemed to throw Austin off balance. He stared at me, blinking rapidly. I could almost hear his heart beating fast. “What do you say, Alpha Austin Sinclair? I thought you wanted to save your little dream girl? I don't have all the time in the world.”“No, absolutely not.” He finally blurted out, to my surprise. My eyes widened in astonishment. “What?” I snapped at him.He shook his head." I said, No. I cannot give up my position in the Wolf's Joint Empire."“Then, we have absolutely nothing to talk about, Mr. Sinclair.”I turned to leave, but Kayla's voice made me turn around. She ran straight to Austin, shedding her usual false tears—nothing new.“Austin, your ex-wife is so cold-hearted. You know how important this eatery is to me, don't you? Just because she's whoring herself to the Alpha Prince, she has succeeded in getting me thrown out of here.” Kayla sniffed pretentiously. I shook my head in disgust. A drama queen will always be a drama queen. Kayla sharply
MEGAN'S POVLucien and I were seated at a fancy restaurant with the piping hot delicacies served in front of us. I sipped the cocktail slowly as he started. “How is your new job treating you? You know you could have just started as the MD?” “I don't want that yet, Lucien. I just started, and I hope it gets better.” I simply uttered, spooning the creamy pasta into my mouth. After a few seconds of silence, with a worried voice, Lucien added. “How are you coping with your ex-husband?”I choked. My gaze went from the plate to Lucien. “He's working as a partner of the company. Of course, I'm there to do my job, which is precisely what I've been doing.”“Megan, if you can't cope with him around you, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll do anything and everything to buy the shares back from him and…” Lucien was determined, but I interrupted him softly. “You don't have to. Austin and I are divorced. Whatever we had was in the past. Now, we're just co-workers or partners in a business place. That
