Chapter 25

AUSTIN'S POV

I walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.”

Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”

Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag.

The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”

“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”

For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around with furrowed eyebrows. “Everything in this store is for you. Every thread, every jewel is yours.” I added as she stared at me.

“Have you lost your mind, brother? Are you forgetting all the men she ran off with?” Alice freaked out.

Kayla gulped hard. Her eyes were wide and fierce. “She deserves nothing from you, nothing. She is not your wife; she's your ex-wife. You both are divorced. Don't tell me you don't know that.”

Ignoring her, I turned back to Megan. Her face explicated shock and disbelief. Kayla clenched her fist hard. “Arghh… I can't stand both of you.”

With that, she stormed out of the mall, pushing Alice aside in a fit. “Kay, where are you going? Wait for me.” Alice tried to stop her, but she didn't spare a glance.

“What is going on, Austin? Have you seen what you caused? You just made Kayla so angry.” Alice blurted out as she ran after Kayla, leaving behind Megan and me. After a few seconds of silence between us, Megan finally spoke up. “You know, she's right. I'm not your wife, not anymore. We're divorced. Besides, it's just a store; if I wanted one, Lucien would gladly get it for me. You can let your psychotic girlfriend have it.”

With that, she turned to leave, but I held her hand. “Hey. Then, what can I actually get for you that would matter?”

“Stay away from me, Austin Sinclair. Just sell off the shares you gave with the Wolf's Joint Empire.”

My heart ached. Is she that eager to leave me? “Tell me the truth, Megan.” I started walking towards it. Each time I take a step closer, she takes a step backwards.

Suddenly, her heels twisted, and she lost balance. I caught her in my arms. Our eyes in contact, and my breath felt on her nose. “Do you really not care about me anymore, Megan?”

Just when she was about to say a word, her phone rang aloud, and she quickly pushed me aside and brought out her phone. “Hello, Nate. What's up?”

“Meg, something's wrong. It's Eleazar. He's having another episode.” I heard the voice from the phone.

She panicked. I could see how scared she looked. “What? I'll be there.” She hung the call up and turned to leave when I inquired anxiously. “What is it?”

“None of your business. Stay away from me.” She barked and ran out of the mall.

With how panicky she looked, I knew something was wrong. I picked up my phone and texted. “My wife just left now; she's rushing. Find out why she's panicking. I want to know every detail.”

Megan ran down the hospital's lobby with tears in her eyes. Holding onto her handbag and cell phone while running into the ward. She sighted Nathan at the other side of the lobby. The moment he saw her, he sprang up and walked to her. His face was sad and tired.

“Where's he? Where is my son?” She questioned breathlessly.

Nathan tried to calm her down, but she wasn't having it. “Nate, where's Eleazar?”

“He's in the emergency ward. We're running out of time, Meg. I know you would rather not get Austin into this, but Eleazar could lose his life if you don't get the blood of his father. He can't control his wolf, Megan, and it's dragging him down.” Nathan replied, sniffing and blinking rapidly to force back tears.

Megan fell on her knees with her hair all over her face and her palms clasped over her mouth. Her face was messed up with tears and her hair. “No, I can't tell Austin that Eleazar is his son. He can't find out. He doesn't love us, and we don't need him.”

“It's okay, Meg. Stop crying, okay?" Nathan helped her up and hugged her while she wept on his shoulder. Her breath shuddering as she held onto the hem of his cloth.

An hour later, Megan and Nathan proceeded to the doctor's office. As soon as they walked in, the doctor raised his head and smiled faintly at them. Megan's face was swollen, and her eyes were reddened.

"Doctor, how is my baby?” It was all she could ask. She asked like her life depended on it.

The doctor took off his glasses. “He's stable…. For now.” He added.

“Doctor, I can't lose my son. I don't mind what it takes. Whatever it takes, I want him to live.” Megan continued, her voice shivering and coated with pain.

Taking a deep sigh, the doctor continued. “Moon Heiress, the only solution is his father's blood. You have a compelling wolf, and you mated with an alpha to birth Eleazar. He's only a child, but he has two powerful bloodlines running through his veins. To keep him stable, his father's blood must be donated to him every year until he's able to control his powers.”

“How about you take my blood? He's my son. I can donate blood to him.” Megan sniffed hard.

The doctor shook his head. “Your blood is stronger. He might lose his life. For now, we were able to calm the situation, but we don't know how long this can continue. The earlier you get his father's blood, the better for him.”
