MEGAN'S POV

I sat on the chair facing the desktop on the table, lost in thought and staring blankly at the screen of the computer.

Then came a faint knock on the door of my office. I didn't even realize that the door of the office was swung open until Claire tapped the table and I blinked hard, turning to her. “Y… Yes?”

“Miss Prescott, are you okay? You look lost, and that's bad for work.” She chipped in.

I forced a smile. “It's nothing. How may I help you?”

“Oh, you don't need to help me because you'll be needing a lot of that help for yourself.” She jokingly snapped. “I mean, as the project manager, you'll have to meet with Mr. Davison. He's quite a difficult man to please. You'll need him to sign, and then we can proceed with the other facilities.” She tried to sound caring, but in the real sense, it felt like she was mocking me.

“Mr. Davison?” I mouthed with my eyes rolling. “Get me an appointment with him.” I readily replied, and she smiled mischievously.

Picking up the files on the table, she nodded. “Of course, manager. I'll have a meeting scheduled.”

With that, she left the office. I was too troubled over my son's condition to think of anything else. Later that day, I got the message that Mr. Davison would like to meet me at an expensive bar with the location sent to me.

Without knowing what was ahead, I dressed up in my corporate attire that looked absolutely fine. I drove straight to the bar. Since it was a business meeting, I didn't think it was necessary to go with any bodyguard, as that would raise suspicions as to who I was.

When I got to the bar, I headed straight to the VVIP section, as I was told to. The smell of cigarettes and alcohol filled the air. For a second I wondered why anyone would schedule a business meeting in a bar coated with the strong smell of alcohol and smoke.

I was shown into the room where Mr. Davison was. As soon as I stepped in, I saw him. A man in his mid-fifties, dressed in a black suit, a hat, and black shades. He had a big wad of tobacco placed in between his lip.

My eyes scanned the room. There were half-naked ladies in the room, dancing and spinning on the pole in front of him while the others massaged his back. My grip on the files I held tightened as I tried hard not to show how displeased I was.

He gulped down the dry gin in his glass and placed it back on the table, grinning at me while I forced a smile at him with countable steps closer to him. “What are you? A snail? Come on, take a seat, pretty lady.” He licked his lips seductively like an animal who had just caught his prey. My skin crawled.

However, I still maintained a calm expression as I sat on the chair opposite him. “Hello, Mr. Davison. My name is….” I was still speaking when he interrupted me abruptly.

“Megan Prescott.” He snapped, and my eyes widened a little. How the hell did he get to know my name? Then, he laughed, and thick smoke emanated from his nostrils and mouth. “Are you surprised, Miss Prescott?”

I forced a smile. “I… I really am. It's such an honor for you to know my name. Let's get to business, Mr. Davison. I have the papers that you're meant to sign and….”

His countenance changed, making me stop my statement halfway to inquire what I said or did that made him frown. “Is everything okay, sir?”

“I heard you're a workaholic, but I never thought it was this bad, Miss Prescott. I'll sign the papers, but you have to drink with me for a while.” He started, and I gulped hard.

I shook my head politely and declined. “I'm sorry, Mr. Davison, but I don't drink alcohol. Besides, this is a time to work, not to drink.”

He smirked coldly, and I felt goosebumps run down my spine as I stared at him. “It's work for you, but for me, it's time to have fun. Whose schedule do we work with, Miss Prescott? If it's mine, then you'll have to leave and…”

“Fine. I can take a few glasses.” I snapped readily in a bid to get the paperwork done and over with.

He snapped his finger, and instantly, a glass was brought, and he personally filled it up and handed it to me. I took the glass from him and watched him smoke the tobacco. Smoke emanated from his nostril, thick and dark.

Just when I was about to drink from the glass, I perceived it… A drug that could induce sleep. My countenance changed. Is he trying to drug me?

Anger ran through my veins as I clenched the glass tightly. Immediately, I poured the wine on his face, and gasps rent the air. He didn't budge; he sat there with his expression unchanged.

“Do you really think I'm that naive? That I can tell when I'm being given a glass of drugged wine?” I flared up furiously, staring hard at him.

He smirked. “And do you really think you can get me to sign those papers without giving me anything in return? You silly girl! She told me that you're a little stubborn, and guess what? I like you already. I like my woman feisty, so you're my type.”

“She? Who the hell is she, and what has that got to do with business? Mr. Davison, I advise you not to do anything you'll regret for the rest of your life.” I calmly warned.

“You're feisty. Warning me? A mere project manager? How courageous!” He applauded in a rather ridiculing tone.

I gulped hard. “Since you want something in return before signing the papers, I can pay you. Whatever amount you like.”

“Do I look like somebody who is short on cash? I'm the brain behind the project you're managing. The moment I saw your photo, I knew you were the only thing that I wanted." He held my hand, rubbing it.

“Get your filthy hands off me.” I pushed his hand off, but then I felt dizzy all of a sudden and staggered and then fell on the ground.

MEGAN'S POV I held onto my head as I felt my eyes closing. My vision was blurry. “What did you do to me?”He cackled mischievously and sat down with his legs crossed. “Drink wasn't the only surprise tonight. Of course, I know you would find out that the drink was drugged.” Then, he pointed at the incense burner on the table, and I breathed heavily, trying hard to keep my eyes open. “That…. I already took the antidote, so it won't affect me or anyone in this room except you, Miss Prescott.” He laughed maliciously. “You're…. You're evil and don't deserve to live.” I managed to speak because I was almost losing my voice. He roared with laughter like I had just given him a compliment. “There's no need to act tough, Miss Prescott. Don't worry, I'll go gentle with you. Look at you now.” He snapped his finger, and everyone in the room left instantly. In the twinkle of an eye, the room became empty. Bending closer to me, he ran his fingers all over my body. “You look like a helpless litt

AUSTIN'S POVI walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.” Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag. The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around

ALICE'S POV I drove into the mall and parked the car in the garage. Kayla and I walked into the mall laughing and chatting. However, our laughter was cut short the moment we sighted Megan shopping in the clothes section. Kayla scoffed in disgust as she cleared her throat noisily to get Megan's attention. Megan turned slightly with her face indifferent. “Oh, look who we have here. I wonder how many times you had to spread your legs to be able to afford that.” She pointed at the dress Megan was holding. Ignoring her, Megan rolled her eyes and proceeded to take out another dress from the display shelf. Furious, Kayla grabbed her arm rudely. “Hey. I'm talking to you.” “She thinks she can buy a discount dress at a luxury store.” I taunted, staring hatefully at her. Kayla and I laughed loudly. “And pretend to be a socialite.” I added.Kayla shook her head in a feign of pity. “You know what? It's actually kind of sad. You can put lipstick on a pig, but that doesn't stop it from being a p

MEGAN'S POV My words seemed to throw Austin off balance. He stared at me, blinking rapidly. I could almost hear his heart beating fast. “What do you say, Alpha Austin Sinclair? I thought you wanted to save your little dream girl? I don't have all the time in the world.”“No, absolutely not.” He finally blurted out, to my surprise. My eyes widened in astonishment. “What?” I snapped at him.He shook his head." I said, No. I cannot give up my position in the Wolf's Joint Empire."“Then, we have absolutely nothing to talk about, Mr. Sinclair.”I turned to leave, but Kayla's voice made me turn around. She ran straight to Austin, shedding her usual false tears—nothing new.“Austin, your ex-wife is so cold-hearted. You know how important this eatery is to me, don't you? Just because she's whoring herself to the Alpha Prince, she has succeeded in getting me thrown out of here.” Kayla sniffed pretentiously. I shook my head in disgust. A drama queen will always be a drama queen. Kayla sharply

MEGAN'S POVLucien and I were seated at a fancy restaurant with the piping hot delicacies served in front of us. I sipped the cocktail slowly as he started. “How is your new job treating you? You know you could have just started as the MD?” “I don't want that yet, Lucien. I just started, and I hope it gets better.” I simply uttered, spooning the creamy pasta into my mouth. After a few seconds of silence, with a worried voice, Lucien added. “How are you coping with your ex-husband?”I choked. My gaze went from the plate to Lucien. “He's working as a partner of the company. Of course, I'm there to do my job, which is precisely what I've been doing.”“Megan, if you can't cope with him around you, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll do anything and everything to buy the shares back from him and…” Lucien was determined, but I interrupted him softly. “You don't have to. Austin and I are divorced. Whatever we had was in the past. Now, we're just co-workers or partners in a business place. That
