Chapter 1. Time to save the beauty queen

A late-20s-era young man stepped out of a white limousine. It was challenging to notice the coldness in his brown eyes because of his glasses. He examined his surroundings while buttoning his suit. Nothing has changed in the four good years since he went.

“Have you located the female I requested you look into?”He inquired with his secretary.

He was involved in a tragic accident four years ago. Due to the lack of nearby people, he almost died. He was saved and taken to the hospital by a girl. This wasn't enough to owe someone, so after being sent away by his wife, she did something else.

The sole heir to the Jayden family was Benjamin. He was cold and ruthless.

"Yes, boss, she is getting married to an elderly man." When his secretary spoke, he was distracted from his thoughts.

I see, it's time to save the beauty queen.” He got in his car and was driven to the wedding location by his secretary.

“Do you accept Miss Evana as your wife, Mr. James? The elder was questioned by the pastor.

"Yes, I do," he gushed in response.

“Do you consider Mr. Cain to be your spouse, Miss Evana?” He questioned.

Evana was at a loss for words and remained still. She was a lovely young lady with lovely eyes. She saved a young man, and then she went blind. Her family didn't regard her as one of them and thought she was useless. Despite the abuse she received, she didn't give up on life.

Her family fell victim to their adversary's trap for the past two months. They suffered a big financial loss that almost put them out of business. Thankfully, regrettably, an elderly guy made the decision to provide them assistance in exchange for one of their kids.

The Hanson family's first miss was gifted and stunning. She was Evana's younger sister. They didn't want to dash her hopes and believed she was too valuable to be damaged by getting married to such an old grumpy man.

The poor blind girl was coerced into marrying him.

What are you still waiting for, Evan? She was startled out of her reverie as her mother yelled.

“Please say what you said again. I'm sorry.” she said while wiping away tears from her face.

“The bride was coerced, right? She doesn't seem joyful.”

What if she was coerced, then? What “advantages has it provided for the country and her family? I would have cheerfully wed the man if I were her. He is wealthy, even though he is old.”

“The girl is brave, though. She would have committed suicide if I were her.”

Each guest murmured to the others. When Evana overheard their conversations, she sobbed uncontrollably in silence.

“We're still waiting for an answer, Miss Evana.” The pastor prompted her once more.

She was about to finish when they heard a strong voice at the gate's entrance.

The voice drew nearer and said, "No, she doesn't."

“Identify yourself.” The elderly man asked.

"It's unnecessary to know who I am. No one could stop me because I came here to take what is mine.” Coldly, Benjamin responded.

“And whatever is yours, take it and leave. The elderly man spoke hastily. Many men found it difficult to resist Evana because she was such a lovely girl. However, due to her blindness, others neglect her.

He boldly proclaimed, "The lady who is standing right in front of you, she is mine and mine alone."

“Apparently, you need to visit the hospital for a checkup, young man. How dare you take what is mine? Do you wish to perish?” The elderly man shouted in rage.

"As an old man like you, you should be preparing for your grandchildren. Why are you still here at this time, advocating for young women?” One of Benjamin's guys made a scathing remark, and the entire group of guests started laughing.

"Why are you holding out? Did I hire you all to keep an eye on someone who simply walked in without my permission? Five minutes, drag them away!" Mr. Cane yelled at his men.

His men charged at Benjamin's men and began to fight. Nobody had been able to defeat his bodyguards, who were believed to be the best in the nation. His troops merely believed Benjamin's men to be frail, but to their shock, they were all taken out in a matter of seconds. The strength of Benjamin's men was not even wasted significantly.

Everyone in my immediate vicinity gasped in shock. "Who is this man, really?" They had this internal thought.

What the heck is going on? Her mother-in-law condemned her.

Her sister thought to herself, "Wow, this young man is extremely handsome, but why is he battling for this dirty rag?"

"Who are you, exactly?" He could tell that the man was not an ordinary man, and Mr. Cane started to shiver. He would be able to match them in strength and wealth if his men could defeat them. Perhaps he ought to grant his request. Still, he would return to get Evana. He was ready to sacrifice anything for her since he was his.

His personal helper laughed, "There is no need to know who our boss is, old man, you don't even fit to wash his feet."

"You can't just talk to our boss any how . No one will be able to step on us because we controlled this city.” The secretary of Mr. Cain responded.

"Oh, that's funny. While our boss rules the nation, your boss rules the city. He may do so without being questioned and throw your entire family into the water.”

“Are you ready to accompany me, my lady? Benjamin finally spoke after a long period of silence,

I can give you the best of life."

Are you also an elderly person? Evana questioned.

“Yes Evana, he is very old. In fact, he is older than Mr. Cain.He is not handsome but very ugly."

She smirked looking at Evana’s pathetic state since everyone is watching the drama, it was good to put in some oil.

But on the other hand Benjamin wanted Evana to willingly reach and accept his proposal, so he stayed silent.

Why should I marry an old man?
