Chapter 11 You can die or live

“For your information, my eyes are clear now, and I can now see you all clearly. Sometimes I wonder if you are truly my biological parents. I mean, how can you tell me to give my boyfriend to my little sister? You know what? I am not going to allow you to manipulate me; if you want to die, you can die. That is your choice; you can choose to live or die."

"What! Both her parents gasped in surprise. Evana has always yielded to them; she has always respected her parents and has always obeyed them.

This idiot has become too bold to talk to her parents in such a manner. Her father said

"How dare you talk to your mother this way, Evana? Is that how we raised you.

"You have never raised me. I had always fended for myself. I worked every day to make sure the family was happy. I dropped out of school so my little sister and brother could further their education, my junior brother also dropped when he saw the burden was too much for me. I saved enough money to help you build a company. And now, how did you treat me? I became the laughing stock of the city. Do you think you have the right to complain, mother?

"It was duty, so why are you now complaining? You are very selfish; if you won’t give your boyfriend to your sister, you can at least share with him." Her father said shamelessly

"Oh, I see. I think I wasted my time coming here thinking you were sick was sick. I guessed it was all part of your trap. For your information, I came with Benjamin, but too bad you wouldn’t be able to see him since you pretended to be sick. Any way I am going, and I would never step foot in this house again." She said this with disappointment and left.

When she went downstairs, she saw Mirabel standing sheepishly beside her boyfriend; she was too angry to ask what was going on."

"Babe, let’s go; I can’t stay here any longer." She held his hands and led him out of the room angrily.

"Mother, what happened? Did it succeed? Why is she furious?" Mirabel went upstairs and asked them.

"That unfaithful child, she told me I can die if I wish and she doesn’t care; could you believe she has grown horns?" Her mother was shaking with anger.

"Were you able to seduce him? I know you are beautiful." Mr. Hanson, Evana's father, said

"Forget it dad; that man is ruthless; I wouldn’t be able to do without your assistance." He almost pushed me down today."

"If you couldn’t seduce a man, then what is the extent of your beauty?" Mrs. Hanson was disappointed in her daughter. She has wasted such a golden opportunity.

"If it is easier as you have just said, why weren’t you able to convince Evana?" She retorted.

"You should do your best to drag him to your side; as for that girl, I would know what to do with her. Her brother is still in my hands." Mrs. Hanson grinned evilly.

"But mother, my brother is also your blood; how could you treat him in such a way? Aren't you heartless to treat your own son badly?"

"Shut up! How dare you call me wicked when I am doing all this for you? Both Evana and Ken are my children, but they are obedient and brilliant, unlike you who is dumb. I don’t even know what else to do with you again.

People outside always think you are the brilliant one; they don’t know how you get that result. Any way, you should pray that your sister won’t decide to go back to school or else you might be exposed.

"Ok, mother, I have heard you, but it wasn’t like I was dumb; you had too much expectation for me."

"Did you know Miss Linda’s son placed first in her school? Her mother didn’t bribe the teachers; he came out with flying colors on his own. Miss Margaret's son was the best student in his school; he also achieved everything on his own. Wouldn’t it be a shame if my daughter didn’t get any of these positions? Do you want me to lose face in front of my friends?"

"I am sorry, mother; I didn’t think that way. I will work hard."

"Good, you can now leave, but remember you have promised me to work hard."

"Ok, mother, thank you very much."

…………

"After Evana stormed out of the Hanson house angrily, she kept silent all this while." Benjamin said nothing as he sat beside her quietly. He wanted to give her enough space.

"Evana dear, is everything alright?" Benjamin asked when they got home.

"Could you believe my mother told me I should help my sister seduce you? I mean, like, how?"

"What! is that what your mother told you?"

"Yes, she said I should either share Mirabel with you or let Mirabel take over my position."

"Really, I mean, your mother said these?"

"Yes, my mother said these; I am shocked. After all the sacrifices I made I dropped out of school to help them support my sister. My younger brother was sent abroad when we were young, and I have never heard from him since. Anytime I asked my mother about him, she would tell me he was fine. You wouldn’t abandon my right?" She said it in panic.

Benjamin noticed the fear in her voice. He drew closer to her and hugged her; Evana could smell his scent, which brought a lot of comfort, and her fears suddenly vanished.

"Don’t worry, I wouldn’t abandon you. I love you, and I would do anything to make you happy. I will do my very best to find your brother. Just rest assured, and don’t be dismayed." He patted his back and said with a gentle tone.

"Ok, I believe you wouldn’t leave me, and I also believe you would be able to find my brother sooner or later. I am tired of my mother using him to threaten me."
