Chapter 7 I want to be your wife

"Please who are you, and why did you promised me the world." Evana asked.

"I am the man you saved two years ago."

"I don’t remember taking care of any man. She said with doubt.

“Really, are you sure,” he asked in a confused tone.

“Yes, I am very sure. I can’t remember taking care of any body. I have never had any man in my life.”

“Really, are you sure,” he asked in a confused tone.

“Yes, I am very sure. I can’t remember taking care of any body. I have never had any man in my life.” She said in affirmative. take care of him two years ago. The marked under her eyes confirms everything. But what really happened and what went wrong?” He pondered.

“When he got home, he called his secretary. Andrea finds out what happened to Evana Smith. I want to know everything. I mean everything that happened to her three years ago. It should be done by tomorrow morning.”

“Ok boss,” his secretary said and hanged up. He came out and saw Evana seated quietly. She looks like someone who was in deep thought. “Do you think I will be able see clearly again?” She asked with doubt.

“Yes you will and that is a promise. I will make sure to do everything so you could be your old self. Don’t worry, just trust me,” he comforted her.

“But of all people why did you choose to save me,” she asked curiously.

“I owe you my life,” he said coolly.

“Really but I don’t remember saving you.” She

pondered.

“Have you by any chance lost your memory before?”

“No I don’t think so but remember I have been in coma for two months. I woke up and only saw my family. I remembered them so I don’t think I very lost my memory.” She replied.

“Its alright, don’t force yourself to remember. There might be a way.” He assured her.

“So, what are you going to do to me? Are you going to employ me, or make me a servant? “

“Hahaha Benjamin laughed out; I am not going to make you servant sweetheart. I am going to make you my wife but that will be after you are fully healed.” He stroked her hair and answered.

“What! Are you marrying me because you think I am the one who saves you and you want to repay me?”

“No dear, that is not the reason. I won’t marry you because of gratitude. It’s because I want you to be my wife.”

“I see, I hope you treat me well.” She spoke. “Don’t worry I will treat you like a queen. The doctor is on his way, he will soon check and we will know what to do next.”

“Ok, thank you very much.” Her heart was full of gratitude. She had always thought she would remain like this forever. It seems God had a plan for her. She hopes she gets better and pursued her dream. Her parents didn’t bother with her when they learnt she couldn’t see clearly. But she was the one who took care of them. She worked in six different shops and restaurants before the day close every day. She clearly remembered how she suffered to make them survive. Before she got into an accident. When the doctor arrived, he examined her eyes.

“Her eyes is not a big a problem. She didn’t receive better treatment that caused her to be half blind. She will get back to normal within a week if she starts treatment.”

“Really, only one week and I will be able to see again, that is a great news. I am happy that I will be able to see people clearly. Now they aren’t going to call me the blind girl.” She said happily.

“Ok, doctor. I am willing to pay any amount to make her well. Please do your best,” Benjamin said to the doctor.

“Don’t worry Mr. Benjamin, as I have already said, this isn’t a problem. We will start the treatment tomorrow so she can recover fast. I have some job to attend to. Please she must take these drugs twice a day. And apply this on her eyes every evening.” He prescribed the drugs to her and left.

It's been a week since the doctor has been treating Evana's eyes. Today is the last day that the doctor promised she would recover. Evana couldn’t sleep all day; she tossed left and right last night. She woke up early in the morning and went downstairs. Like I said, she wasn’t actually blind, but she can’t see things clearly. So she could walk without any help.

When Benjamin saw her, he rushed to help her. "Why did you come down?" He asked in a gentle tone.

“It was boring inside. Beside, I am too nervous, so I decided to come downstairs to chat with the maid.

"Didn’t you go to work today? I thought you had already gone." she added.

"No, today is your final treatment. And you will recover today; how can I miss such a day?" He hugged her from behind. Benjamin has never had intimacy with her. He will move on to the next step when she is fully healed. For now, he was only focused on her eyes.

The doctor applied medicines to her eyes and bandaged them. “Benjamin, are you sure I am going to be alright?" she asked with doubt.

"Don’t worry, Miss Evana; I can assure you that this is the best eye treatment. You will be fine. You will regain your sight back today, so don’t worry.” The doctor assured her.

"Yes, just trust in the doctor." You are going to regain your sight, and everything is going to be alright. Benjamin assured her.

He sat by her side and kept her company. An hour later,

"Miss Evana, it's time to unwrap the bandages." The doctor said

Evana said OK and rubbed her hands. Benjamin held her hands and assured her with his eyes.

The doctor slowly unwrapped the bandage. After he was done, he told her to open her eyes.

"No, I don’t want to; I am afraid to be disappointed." She said.

"Come on, Evana, open your eyes. Just trust the process and trust in God.” Benjamin cut her off.

"No, I won't," she said, shaking her head.

"Miss Evana, even if you don’t trust me, can’t you trust Mr. Miller?" The doctor said it helplessly.

"Is he a doctor?"

"Okay, trust the doctor if you don’t trust me," Benjamin said.

“Is he God?" she asked again.

The doctor and Benjamin shook their heads.

"Why is she behaving like a child? So unreasonable," the doctor concluded.

"Aww, women, only God who created them would understand them. They are full of dramas." That was Benjamin’s thought.

"Miss Evana, if you don’t open your eyes within one minute, I guess you are going to remain like this forever. The medicine is very strong, so it shouldn’t stay in the eyes any longer than it should. If it does, nothing can be done. And your eyes would be like this forever." The doctor scared her, but it wasn’t the truth.

"No, I don’t want that," she said quickly, opening her eyes.

"So adorable and cute." Benjamin thought to himself. He was amused at her.

"Can you see clearly, Evana?" they asked.

"Yes, yes, I can see. Finally, after two years, I can see." She jumped around happily.

"Ok, what is the color of my clothes?" Benjamin asked.

"Your shirt is white in color while you wear black trousers." She answered.

"That’s good; how many fingers have I raised?" he inquired again.

"Two," Evana smiled.

“We will go for a checkup tomorrow to see if everything is alright. Thank you very much, doctor." He thanked her, gave her a check for $10 million, and escorted him out. He escorted the doctor out.

"Wow, thank you very much, Benjamin," she said, holding his hands with gratitude.

Wow, you are very handsome. How I wish I was your wife." She spoke bluntly.

"Cough, cough Benjamin, who was drinking water, was choked by her bluntness.

"Gosh, what a straight-forward person." He mumbled.

"I can be your husband if you wish. I will always be there for you." He promised.

"Really, I will be very happy if you are sincere. I am a straight-forward person. I don’t hide my feelings." She hoped for it.

"Don’t worry, I can’t wait to marry you." He couldn’t wait any longer. "Do you know how you got blind?" He was curious.

“No, I don’t remember; all I remembered was that I couldn’t see. At first, I tried to remember, but anytime I did so, I began to develop a sudden headache. So I stopped. My parents also yelled at me when I asked them what really happened. They will tell me to thank God I am alive and to stop asking stupid questions. I always have a nightmare. And in the nightmare, I am tied to a chair and a woman talking to me. But I couldn’t hear what she was saying. I eventually stopped thinking about it, but I still have nightmares every evening. If you say you will marry me, hurry up and do so. I am tired of sleeping alone. I am afraid I wouldn’t wake up one day." She was serious.

"Don't worry, we will go to the bureau to register our marriage tomorrow. You will be Miss Miller officially tomorrow." He patted her head.

"You need to rest. You have suffered." He helped her climb the stairs and took her to her room.

He sat beside her and stroked her head. "Who did this, and why can’t you remember what actually happened?" He pondered. He swore he would find the person behind this and punish her.

"How is the investigation going?" he called his friend.

In case you are confused. He initially told his personal secretary to dig up the information, but since he was ambushed, he told his closet friend, Harry, to do that. He didn’t trust his secretary again. "It's weird; someone keeps attacking the website when I try to search for more information about it. And when I asked her parents about it, they told me they knew nothing about it. All they know is that, they saw the accident on television and also saw her lying on the floor. That is, they recognize her and went to the hospital. But as for what happened, they really don’t know.

“But their expression says something else. They are tried hard to avoid my eyes.
