LOGINAlpha Ayr is heading towards a contract marriage. Safe and easy. So why is the Goddess taunting him with a mate-bond to a murderous outcast? Even worse, she is his fiancés sister, but she is all he can think about. Ayr knows she could be playing for survival, using their inescapable desire for her own benefit. Using his duty and honour as a shield against his feelings can only hold out for so long. However, the truth can be a weapon in the wrong hands. Cassie may be unlovable, but Ayr's choices could easily prove unforgivable.

Golden Summit Pack
"In the thick Culloden woods, where the trees stretch high in the sky, blocking out all sunlight, There is a pack of demon wolves who are direct descendants of Hades. They are known as hellhounds. Said to be the fallen soldiers of the goddess brought back to life by the eternal flame to do his bidding. They catch fire when awakened and will burn anything in their wake. It is said that the dense fog is not a fog at all but a thick layer of smoke that hangs low in the forest, making it even more dangerous to venture in. The woods are said to catch fire in the center and never stop burning, but from the outside, you see nothing. The portal to hell is in the center of those woods, allowing the hellhounds to cross over as they please. No one dares venture into the forest, for they fear they will never come back out.
"Boo!"
A piercing scream rings through the night from my not-so-little sister. You would think she was about eight years old, but in reality, she is sixteen and just a wuss. Reagan punches my youngest brother Sam in the arm, and I can’t help but laugh.
"What the hell, Sam, that isn’t funny. I almost had a heart attack." She yells before turning and stomping off her brown locks, which are swaying behind her.
"It’s just a scary story!" He yells after her before laughing. My two other brothers walked up, standing beside us after an angry Reagan pushed past them.
"What did you do now, Sam?" Duron is a little annoyed.
"You told her the tale of Culloden Woods, didn’t you?" Kendrick is amused.
We are all identical quadruplets. I’m the eldest; my parents gave me the name Cyrus. Then you have, in order, Duron, Kendrick, and Samson, but he goes by Sam. We are all 21, but our birthdays are in two months. Our mother didn't make it through our birth. Not even a witch could help heal her.
Now we are doomed to live a cursed life. We have no mate. Most claim there is no one destined for us, but I believe the goddess wouldn’t be so cruel. Whoever she is, I know she will be extraordinary to be able to take on four alpha males. Well, soon-to-be alphas, our dad isn’t handing down the pack to us until we turn 22. He claims we’re too immature, but I think he’s referring to Sam and Kendrick. They tend to goof around quite a bit. The only thing you can get them to focus on is training.
Kendrick is the strongest fighter I have ever seen; he is formidable. Even though all our wolves are identical, his seems to have an edge. Sam is one of the best in hand-to-hand combat; he trains day and night but refuses to train for alpha. Oftentimes, he skips out on duties, and our dad looks as if he will pop a blood vessel in his forehead.
My father is a ruthless alpha, never bowing down to anyone. His only soft spot is for us, and he seems to be the softest on Sam; after all, he is the youngest. He has taken all the territories around us, so we are now surrounded by allies.
There is one area of land he refuses to seize, and that is Culloden Woods. My brothers and I decided the night we took over as alphas, we would conquer these woods and claim them as our own. No stupid tale will keep us from taking what we want.
"You never came to dinner."
Speak of the devil, Alpha Augustus Idris, my father. Leader to all, carefully grooming his four sons to take his place.
"Wasn’t hungry."
"You know damn well I set up a meeting for the four of you, so you skipped out." His temper has always been a problem, but it never seems to intimidate us.
"A meeting to set us up with some slutty she-wolf who isn’t our mate." Duron snarls back at him, matching his fiery tone.
"Five years, Duron! Five years and you haven’t found her. What makes you think you will ever find her?"
"She’s out there somewhere!" Sam adds his two senses to not following my father.
"How do you even know there is a mate for quadruplets? It has never happened in history. The last set of quadruplets chose their mate because they never found their true mate." He seems annoyed at this point, and I decide I will no longer stand by and allow my father to try and control us.
"We’re not choosing a mate. We will wait." I say this in a final tone.
"Stop bringing those thirsty wolves here." Kendrick turns away from our father, staring into Culloden Woods.
"I will only ever accept my true mate, not some cheap knockoff that just wants to mate an alpha." Sam stomps off towards the Blairadam Woods on the other side of our territory, which are ordinarily peaceful.
Kendrick walks away toward the house, no doubt turning in for the night, seeing as he gets up at the crack of dawn to train. My father rubs his face frustratedly, then stomps off behind Duron to the house, knowing he has lost. I look away, turning back to the woods, staring into the dense fog and endless darkness, peaking my interest to know what lies within its cover.
All of the mate nonsense has never stressed me out. If we were to never find our mate, I would be fine with that. I enjoy my solitude, and I don’t need some she-wolf that has been groomed to ruin my pack. Most Lunas are groomed from a young age, just like an alpha is. Only they learn about pack politics and running a pack house. Our pack is self-sufficient in that, though. Lacking a Luna for twenty-one years will do that to any pack.
I see no sense in changing that now and bringing in a she-wolf from outside of our pack. Someone is entitled and bound to cause trouble within my pack, which for the most part is peaceful and like a family. After all, who needs the unnecessary drama of having someone constantly go out of their way to please you?
Not me.
Corbin is the first to arrive, urgency in his steely eyes. He and Ayr now share the dubious honour of matching neck scars. I imagine his lower chest is even more grisly after the attack on him “Is everything okay? It’s so fantastic to see you,” enjoying the sweep of his huge, iron-like hug. The sweet scent of warm baking is the only soft feature about this hardened leader. “When they set up a room for me to recover in, they found this. I thought you should have it,” withdrawing a thick envelope from his jacket. “It’s written by your mother.” I stare at the aged paper and wonder just what I will gain from reading her drunken rantings. “What made you bring this? She must have hundreds of letters, I know she kept a diary too.”“She addressed it to you. It’s the only one with your name on it. No diaries found.” "Go on, I’ll greet everyone else. It will only irritate you if you don’t read it now, " Ayr suggested "Corbin and I need to talk bridges," as the pair grinned. I took the letter
Life is very different in Volare these days. Leo is almost two. Wonderful in every way, his pouty lips and blue eyes making it almost impossible to tell him no. I flit between wondering what my mother would think of my own material efforts. Praying I make better choices than her. I still don’t know what the hell was on her mind when she died. Was it out of love for me or hatred of Elle? Staring at Leo, I will never understand how she stood by all those years in silence. It has taken some serious organising but tonight, finally everyone is going to be reunited. A celebration of friendship. Raphael and Robyn have been sorely missed. Almost eighteen months without any visits between us. Corbin had requested all bridges go up for our own safety for a period. He was attacked in an uprising in the centre of Pemberton. Touring a pack and hit in the chest with a cannonball. Quite how the fuck a group of rebels got hold of a cannon is something Raphael is furiously investigating. The nigh
She’s dreamed of me? Even as my head spins in a frenzy of pure desire, I need to delve into that conversation more. Women are clearly my blind spot. No pun intended. She’s guiding me along the wooden wall, “I‘m staying in the packhouse, come on,” she breathes, and I’m so close to just being swept along. But this is serious. Flashes of Imelda cross my mind. “Jessica, Jessica, come on, what do you mean dreaming? What colour are your eyes?” as she drags me into the packhouse. Where I once snuck in order to shave in Ayr’s fancy bathroom. Her hand feels so tiny in mine. In fact, everything about her is petite. I’m almost stumbling, and I secretly love the way she doesn’t give a shit I can’t see. She’s taking me to her room regardless. “How about you just trust me?” she whispers before placing a kiss on my open chest. Shit that must be how tall she is. When she first kissed me, she must have been on her tiptoes. What the hell is this? “If you know who I am, I don’t…I’m not going to b
Jessica never appeared at dinner. It was a shame, I totally thought her and Marcus might hit it off, but there will be more opportunity. She’s got that daring confidence that I thought might spark his interest. When the lightning flashed and rain descended, everyone jumped in the packhouse. Ayr ran out to find Marcus. Check he hadn’t got caught in the storm and lost his bearings, but he was nowhere to be seen. His blue gauze was trodden into the mud by the packhouse door, though. “He’s not answering his link?” Ayr said, rubbing his chin. “If he wants us, he will,” Matthew answered steadily. “There’s a line of how much he’ll ask for.” Ayr reluctantly agreed, and the evening continued as planned. Drinks consumed, food eaten, I sat in our bed and watched Ayr as he stripped down. I know how long he stays awake at night reading to me. I also know how the instant he thinks I’m asleep he switches from pirate adventures to love sonnets. My dreams are warm, full of summer sun and happiness
The day I stop opening my eyes and searching for a flicker of dawn will be when my wolf stops trying too. Not once did I stop believing. Now, finally, after almost five years, something has happened. Since Ayr told me their silver wolf has vanished from the heavens, the constant blackness has started to part. There are shadows and hints of grey and white in my peripheral vision. I can’t see shapes, but there is lightness where once only pitch black existed. My first instinct was to call out to Berrybrow. But then I shut my lips and breathe sharply. This is for me to know. My secret. For if it turns out, all I can see are the shadows at the edges. What has been gained? But maybe, just maybe my purgatory is finally ending? I already know my irises have turned to jade. Mrs Berrybrow was sweet to sell it kindly, maybe as proof that my wolf is still trying to heal me. Ayr has since said he doesn’t give a fuck, that I was exactly the same man to him. Except hearing how the others hav
I secretly bought a set of jangling bells, but thankfully, they weren’t necessary. I did once tie them to her and woke up to a barrage of jangling cushions to the face. Then she pinned my wrists to the mattress as best as she could before wrapping her mouth around my semi-hard early morning dick. Confusing, briefly terrifying me and making me want to explode all in the space of five seconds. Perfection. Now, such spontaneity has been briefly retired. Instead, she has to choose from a pile of leatherbound books instead of leaping onto my groin. Holding out a selection of hardbacks, I mock-grumpily bark. “Pick one then,” before helping to place the covers over my hugely pregnant, half-glowing, half-irritated mate. We’re in the final stages of this miracle of a pregnancy, and somehow, my plan worked. “You always know which one I’ll choose,” she smiles back softly, her stunningly soft figure draped in an emerald green silk nightgown before choosing the same one she’s had for the pas
