“I need to do something fast”.Denver thought out loud to himself. He was restless,but still couldn't come up with anything.

He knew Lydia was on his neck,and if nothing is done,his secret will surface. He can't let anyone know what he's been hiding for so long.

His heart was racing,he was sweating profusely even with the air conditioner. He had instructed his nurse not to let anyone come into his office for the day.

“ should i seek the help of Leon cross”.

He sat down on the chair right beside his table,his hand on his cheek in a deep thought. “ No, he's more dangerous than Lydia”.

Just then he sprang on his feet,and left the office .He walked to the parking garage,just about entering his SUV, when his phone rang.

Caller ID reads: Lydia Sterling.

“ Hello”. His voice husky.

“ I just fixed your shit just like I always do"Lydia said,just know that you own me.

He knew what she meant.

“ How did you do that,he asked her a bit skeptical,not wanting to provoke her,he regrets getting involved with such a sneaky, two_ face human , but his reputation is at stake.

“ I have my sources,” she said, then hung up.

As the sun said goodbyes, Adrain drove Elara to his luxurious house on the outskirts of town.

“ Welcome to my house” he said,offering her, his arms. Elara took it and he led her inside.

The interior of the house was just as nice as the exterior. High ceiling, marble floor, Everything was perfectly in order. Elara felt like she was in heaven, not a private residence.

Adrain offered to show her around the house, introducing her to his personal assistant,Alex.

Elara could perceive the aroma of a roasted chicken and steamed vegetables.,making her stomach sing.

After a cold shower,Elara was called to the dinning.She couldn't help but notice how Adrain eyes sparkled when he smiled.

Adrain suggested they take a walk around the property,after their dinner. The night air was cold, filled with the scent of flowers,their footsteps echoing.

Just then as they were walking,Elara didn't notice the loose paving stone on the ground.Her feet moved swiftly,and before she knew it,her toes caught the edge of the stone, causing her to stumble.

Time seemed to slow down as Elara arms flailed wildly, her eyes widening in panic as felt herself losing balance.

Her mind screamed “no,no,no” as she felt her body begin to fall. But just as she was about to hit the ground, Adrain pair of strong arms swooped in and caught her,saving her from a potentially embarrassing fall..

Adrain who seem so into their conversation turned around just in time to see Elara stumbling towards him. With a swift reflex he reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist,pulling her to his chest.

Elara's face burned with embarrassment as she found herself pressed against his chest,her hands grasping his arms for support.

For a few moments,they stood there,frozen in time,as he held her steady.

Elara’s heart pounded against his chest,and she could feel his warm breath. The air was thick with tension,and Elara's cheek flushed with mortification.

Adrain Vale seemingly reluctant to let go,held her for a bit longer than necessary.

His eyes scanned her face,and for a moment,their gaze locked. Elara's pulse quickened as she took in the intensity of his gaze,her mind racing with implication.

Finally, he gently set Elara on her feet,his hands lingering on her waist before dropping to his side. Elara took a step back trying to compose herself.

“I'm so sorry” She muttered,her voice barely above a whisper. “I'm such a clumsy idiot”.

“No you're not,just be careful”.hus voice gentle and firm.

As they continued their walk,Elara shook the feeling that her heart had started beating for him.

Elara had gone to the hospital to see her brother for the last time, before he's sent to the state.

While walking through the hallway,she noticed some strange steps. She quickened her step,her heart racing.She had just left Jeremy room and was heading to the elevator when she heard the sound of the footsteps behind her.

As she turned to see who it was,the man behind her in a black hoodie and sunglasses appeared out of nowhere,he was tall and imposing.

Elara instincts kicked in,and she quickened her pace,but the man kept pace with her.

Suddenly Adrain appeared,his eyes scanning the place,he had followed her when she snuck out of the house without telling him.

Without hesitation, Adrain pushed Elara behind him,his body shielding her.” Get down”. He yelled, his voice was urgent.

Elara ducked behind him,her heart racing with fear. The man in black in hoodie pulled out a gun,aimed it at them.

Adrain swiftly moved to the side,his body positioning itself between Elara and the bullet.

!Bang!

The gunshot echoed ,a loud and sharp sound.

The bullet passed through the air, hitting Adrain side.Elara eyes widened in fear as she saw his body jerk.

Adrian bodyguard who had been patrolling the area came rushing,some ran after the man. Elara hands were over Adrain body

” Adrain,oh my God”. She exclaimed.

Her voice shaking with fear,but he smiled weakly at Elara.” I….I'm fine”.,his voice barely above a whisper, then he collapsed.

“ Can anyone help me out here” Elara yelled to no one in particular.She helped Adrian sit down on the floor, his back against the wall, and applied pressure to his wound, while his bodyguard came back and quickly carried him into the car.

The car was racing,but Elara couldn't stop telling the driver to increase his speed.

She held into Adrain hands and silently prayed.

He just can't die,not now.

They arrived at the hospital,the staff quickly rushed towards Adrian,and took him to the emergency room.

Elara followed closely behind,but stopped at the door.Elara couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier,and fear engulfed her. She realized that she was in this now, that she was a target.And she knew that she had to be careful.

The doctor emerged from the room, with a worried face.

"We need to perform an urgent surgery on him to evacuate the bullet," he said.

"Then do it “. She said with a trembling voice.
