LOGINLyra's POV
Eamon didn’t look at me when he came in. I noticed a green folder in his hands as he went straight to the table and sat halfway on it with one foot still on the ground and his arms folded. All I felt at his presence was unmeasurable grief. I expected an apology. Then he finally spoke, his voice deep. “So you didn’t think you needed to tell your mate he can’t have a child? You thought you could just hide it from me?” My hands curled into fists. “Hide it from you? Are you serious? You’re the one fucking my twin sister in our own bed. And you have the guts to even ask such an absurd question?” He took a step forward. “You’re in no position to speak to your Alpha like that, Lyra.” “Position? You talk about position? Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Even the Beta is more responsible than you.” I stepped closer, shaking with anger. Eamon had never raised a hand on me before. But then he slapped me, hard. My face stung as I staggered back. “Eamon…” my voice came out weak. He shoved me against the table, and before I could steady myself, his boot drove into my stomach. The pain knocked me to the ground. I curled up, gasping for breath, protecting my stomach. He leaned over me, whispering, “What are you trying to protect? There’s nothing in there, Lyra. Nothing. No child. Nothing.” His words pierced deep into me, but the pain in my stomach was unbearable. Tears filled my face. The pain was too much. “I wish I was never mated to you,” I whispered, sobbing uncontrollably. Eamon stood up straight. “This can’t work anymore. I’ve already prepared the papers. We’re done, Lyra.” He dropped the folder on the ground next to my face. “Here are the divorce papers. When it’s signed, I’ll reject you as my mate before the council. You’ll no longer be Luna of this pack. Sign them, Lyra. So we end this quietly.” Then he walked out, leaving me in pains on the tiles. Divorce papers? Just like that? Eamon cheated on me and the apology am getting is a divorce? It then dawn on me that I have loved a monster for two years. I remembered my mom always told me to be strong. She always said the best way to make your opponent feel weak is to not show them your weaknesses. I could hear her words repeating in my mind over and over. Immediately, I stood up. I swore to myself: I would not waste another tear on a monster like Eamon. He don’t deserve it. He don’t deserve to see my tears, neither my love. I had loved him with everything I had, but he threw me away like trash, as if our bond had never meant a thing. Eamon might have rejected me, but I swore to the Moon Goddess herself, he would never again see me cry. I will have my revenge on you, Eamon. For every ounce of pain you’ve caused me, every tear, every betrayal… you will pay. And Mira, you won’t get away with this. I’ll take everything you thought you’d steal from me. Then suddenly, I could feel my heart going cold toward Eamon. I couldn’t feel anything but hatred for him. I felt disconnected from him as though he was never my mate. I had unknowingly rejected him as my mate. Looking at the divorce papers on the ground, I caught a glimpse of relief. I bent down, picked up the papers, and signed. My signature was clear and bold. I cleaned up using makeup to cover the mark his pouch made. Normally, I wore plain gowns, light colors, loose sleeves, nothing that shouts. But today was different. I felt a change, I chose a deep red dress that was gifted to me. It hugged my body and brought out my curves. The neckline was lower, the sleeves tighter, and the skirt had a slit that showed more leg than I ever would before. I drove my car to AETHER. On reaching the building, I walked boldly to his secretary. She looks shocked to see me in that dressing. “Is your Alpha in his office?” I asked with a light smile on my face. “No, Luna, he’s in a meeting.” “Thanks, Morris,” I said as I walked straight toward the meeting office. I didn’t even knock before pulling open the door. All the ranked werewolves were there, along with other top businessmen and company owners from in and out of the pack. They all saw Eamon as a very respectable man. “Sorry I let my self in.” I said with a smirk on my lips. All eyes were on me even Eamon gazed strongly at me in shock. “Luna? What’s with the sudden change?” Jake asked, staring at my hips as I walked past him. Jake is the pack’s Beta and Eamon’s right-hand man. “Oh Jake, it’s just the joy of getting rid of something, that’s all.” I said walking boldly to Eamon, then spilled it out. “Hey Eamon, I’ve signed the divorce papers you threw on my face this morning. You can as well go to the council now, I believe we're done.” I dropped the divorce papers on his table. Walking out with a smirk on my face, I saw the humiliation and shame on his face. I made sure I said it clearly and loudly so everyone there will hear it. “Is this true Alpha? Did you reject your mate?” Samuel, the pack’s Gamma, asked with shock. “It’s not like that…” Eamon stammered. “Why would I do business with someone who has no respect for even his own mate?” one of the investors said, looking at Eamon in disgust. “I’m shocked…” “Why do you think you have the right to do that?” They complained mummering. “Enough!" Eamon snapped. "I am the Alpha, and I will not entertain any question. I’ve made my decision already. Mira is my mate and your Luna now. I've made my decision.” Eamon growled, the vain on this forehead popping out. “Then I have no need of doing business with you. I will take my leave,” one of the investors said, as he walked out of the meeting. My day was getting wonderful. On reaching the exit of AETHER, I saw Mira. She was shocked to see my appearance. I walked past her as though she didn’t even exist. On opening the door to my car. “Lyra, wait!” It was the investor who had left the meeting calling me. “Lyra, I’m really sorry about Eamon. For a while, I envied your relationship. I didn’t know he would treat you that way. To me, you are still the Luna of this pack, not that scumbag Mira. But if you need anything, here, take this card and give me a call.” I stretched out my hand and collected the business card. “Thank you very much, sir.” “Don’t worry, Lyra. I am here for you.” The investor’s name was Mr. Jerome. He wasn’t from our pack though he was the Alpha of the Moonshadow Pack. But our pack had settled their differences with them, and they both did business together. I saw a great opportunity from this. So I went to my car, heading home. But then I received a phone call. It was Mina, my best friend.RONAN:“Hello, Master Ronan.” His shaky voice came from the phone.“Which among you is this?” I asked.“Sir, this is Philip. We were attacked by a group of men in a van. Jackson was shot in the head, and I drove the car into the lake. The current pulled us toward the waterfall. I had to go get help, so I left.”“But you said you tried helping Lyra and she said no and all that stuff, didn’t you?” I asked. He stammered but didn’t say anything. That was all I needed. Lyra wouldn’t want to die because of the pup, so it was clear already. He ran.“You know what? I want you to do something for me, Philip. Give me the exact place you abandoned Lyra and her unborn child so I can come over,” I snarled.“I am sorry, sir, I didn’t…”I cut the call.“The water carried them there. That’s why she is so far away,” I said.“But can it take her so far?” Silas asked.“That’s the only way,” I said. “You said it yourself. The island is a seven day journey by the normal route. She must have been carried t
RONAN:“I know where Lyra could be,” I stated. “Lisa said—”“Lisa said nothing, Ronan,” he snapped.“If she ever wanted to help, then she wouldn’t try to make you cheat on Lyra like that,” he explained, anger filling his eyes.“How did she know where you are? How did she know who Lyra is? And why do you trust her?” he asked, frowning.“But why do you act like she’s a stranger?” I asked.“I never liked that tramp, not for one second, because I know what she tried to do in your head before,” Silas confessed.“She said she knew who Lyra was because Darius sent her to do a spell to find Lyra, the same spell she did to find me just now,” I explained. “She said I should get Lyra first before Darius finds Lyra, because she will have to report back to Darius,” I added, folding my hands.Silas sighed, dropping his head to the ground.“How do we find Lyra?” he asked.“She said Lyra was on an island very far away from land,” I explained.“That doesn’t make sense. I mean, how can she be so far aw
RONAN:“I’ll do all I can to find you, Lyra, to find our pup,” I whispered to her picture on the bed.I had never been this worried about anything or anyone, but my fear was that Lyra couldn’t fight for herself. She was pregnant, and pregnancy stopped females from shifting.I stood up from the bed, pacing in my room, when a soft knock came from the door. All I wanted was to be alone, not talking to anyone, but it could be something important.I walked to the door and opened it a little. My eyes went wide when I saw who it was.It was Lisa, the girl who once had feelings for me. Feelings I knew about but never acted on. We hadn’t seen each other in over nine years, not since she left and our lives went in different directions.I hadn’t expected to ever see her again.“Lisa? What are you doing here?” I whispered in shock.“I have to tell you something important,” she said. “About Lyra. I know where she is.”I pulled her inside immediately, closing the door behind us.“How have you been,
LYRA:I woke up slowly, the way you do when sleep doesn’t want to let you go. The fire had died down to glowing red coals. The air smelled like smoke. My body ached everywhere, my back, my legs, my head from the uncomfortable rock laid. I blinked, trying to focus.Cole was still sitting where I last saw him, his knees pulled up, arms resting on them. But he wasn’t looking at the trees anymore. He was looking at me.His eyes caught the faint orange light from the coals. They looked darker than usual, almost black. My heart gave a funny jump, the kind that happens when you realize someone has been watching you sleep.“You okay?” he asked.I nodded, even though I wasn’t sure. My mouth felt dry again. I pushed myself up on one elbow. The ground was cold under my palm.He moved then, slowly, like he didn’t want to scare me. He slid closer until his knee brushed my leg. I should have moved away. I didn’t.“Lyra,” he said, softly. Before I could think, his warm hand was on my cheek. His th
THIRD PERSON POV:Lisa felt sad and a little hurt inside. Darius always got what he wanted from her. She picked up her clothes from the floor. She put them back on with shaky hands. Her body still hurt a little from what happened. She looked around the office. Papers were all over the place. The desk was messy. She fixed her hair and wiped her face. Then she walked out of the office. The door clicked shut behind her.She went back to her massage room. The client was already gone now. Her helper had finished the job. Lisa sat down on a chair. She thought about Darius and what he asked. He wanted her to find Lyra. Lyra was pregnant. The baby was important to the pack. Lisa knew she had to help. But she did not like it.Lisa remembered her mom. Her mom was a witch. She taught Lisa some magic things. Lisa had special powers because of that. She could do spells to find people. Her mom left her some tools. Like crystals, old books, and special herbs. Lisa kept them hidden at home. She fin
LYRA:We walked for a long time without talking. The forest was big and scary. Trees everywhere. Thick vines hanging down.My legs hurt a lot. My stomach made hungry noises. The baby inside me moved a little, like it was saying, “Mom, I’m tired too.”Cole walked in front of me. He didn’t look back. He just kept going. I followed because I was afraid to be alone. My feet stepped on sticks and leaves. They made crunching sounds. Sometimes I slipped on mud. I caught myself before I fell.I wanted to ask questions. Like, where are we going? Do you know this place? But I stayed quiet. I was still mad at him. After some time, the sun started to go down. The light became orange and weak. Shadows grew long and dark.Cole stopped. He looked around.“We need water,” he said. “And a place to sleep. It will be night soon.”I nodded. My throat felt dry.He pointed to a small path between the trees. “This way. I hear water.”We walked again. Now it was harder to see. Branches hit my arms. I kept my
