Lyra's POV
Eamon didn’t look at me when he came in. I noticed a green folder in his hands as he went straight to the table and sat halfway on it with one foot still on the ground and his arms folded. All I felt at his presence was unmeasurable grief. I expected an apology. Then he finally spoke, his voice deep. “So you didn’t think you needed to tell your mate he can’t have a child? You thought you could just hide it from me?” My hands curled into fists. “Hide it from you? Are you serious? You’re the one fucking my twin sister in our own bed. And you have the guts to even ask such an absurd question?” He took a step forward. “You’re in no position to speak to your Alpha like that, Lyra.” “Position? You talk about position? Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Even the Beta is more responsible than you.” I stepped closer, shaking with anger. Eamon had never raised a hand on me before. But then he slapped me, hard. My face stung as I staggered back. “Eamon…” my voice came out weak. He shoved me against the table, and before I could steady myself, his boot drove into my stomach. The pain knocked me to the ground. I curled up, gasping for breath, protecting my stomach. He leaned over me, whispering, “What are you trying to protect? There’s nothing in there, Lyra. Nothing. No child. Nothing.” His words pierced deep into me, but the pain in my stomach was unbearable. Tears filled my face. The pain was too much. “I wish I was never mated to you,” I whispered, sobbing uncontrollably. Eamon stood up straight. “This can’t work anymore. I’ve already prepared the papers. We’re done, Lyra.” He dropped the folder on the ground next to my face. “Here are the divorce papers. When it’s signed, I’ll reject you as my mate before the council. You’ll no longer be Luna of this pack. Sign them, Lyra. So we end this quietly.” Then he walked out, leaving me in pains on the tiles. Divorce papers? Just like that? Eamon cheated on me and the apology am getting is a divorce? It then dawn on me that I have loved a monster for two years. I remembered my mom always told me to be strong. She always said the best way to make your opponent feel weak is to not show them your weaknesses. I could hear her words repeating in my mind over and over. Immediately, I stood up. I swore to myself: I would not waste another tear on a monster like Eamon. He don’t deserve it. He don’t deserve to see my tears, neither my love. I had loved him with everything I had, but he threw me away like trash, as if our bond had never meant a thing. Eamon might have rejected me, but I swore to the Moon Goddess herself, he would never again see me cry. I will have my revenge on you, Eamon. For every ounce of pain you’ve caused me, every tear, every betrayal… you will pay. And Mira, you won’t get away with this. I’ll take everything you thought you’d steal from me. Then suddenly, I could feel my heart going cold toward Eamon. I couldn’t feel anything but hatred for him. I felt disconnected from him as though he was never my mate. I had unknowingly rejected him as my mate. Looking at the divorce papers on the ground, I caught a glimpse of relief. I bent down, picked up the papers, and signed. My signature was clear and bold. I cleaned up using makeup to cover the mark his pouch made. Normally, I wore plain gowns, light colors, loose sleeves, nothing that shouts. But today was different. I felt a change, I chose a deep red dress that was gifted to me. It hugged my body and brought out my curves. The neckline was lower, the sleeves tighter, and the skirt had a slit that showed more leg than I ever would before. I drove my car to AETHER. On reaching the building, I walked boldly to his secretary. She looks shocked to see me in that dressing. “Is your Alpha in his office?” I asked with a light smile on my face. “No, Luna, he’s in a meeting.” “Thanks, Morris,” I said as I walked straight toward the meeting office. I didn’t even knock before pulling open the door. All the ranked werewolves were there, along with other top businessmen and company owners from in and out of the pack. They all saw Eamon as a very respectable man. “Sorry I let my self in.” I said with a smirk on my lips. All eyes were on me even Eamon gazed strongly at me in shock. “Luna? What’s with the sudden change?” Jake asked, staring at my hips as I walked past him. Jake is the pack’s Beta and Eamon’s right-hand man. “Oh Jake, it’s just the joy of getting rid of something, that’s all.” I said walking boldly to Eamon, then spilled it out. “Hey Eamon, I’ve signed the divorce papers you threw on my face this morning. You can as well go to the council now, I believe we're done.” I dropped the divorce papers on his table. Walking out with a smirk on my face, I saw the humiliation and shame on his face. I made sure I said it clearly and loudly so everyone there will hear it. “Is this true Alpha? Did you reject your mate?” Samuel, the pack’s Gamma, asked with shock. “It’s not like that…” Eamon stammered. “Why would I do business with someone who has no respect for even his own mate?” one of the investors said, looking at Eamon in disgust. “I’m shocked…” “Why do you think you have the right to do that?” They complained mummering. “Enough!" Eamon snapped. "I am the Alpha, and I will not entertain any question. I’ve made my decision already. Mira is my mate and your Luna now. I've made my decision.” Eamon growled, the vain on this forehead popping out. “Then I have no need of doing business with you. I will take my leave,” one of the investors said, as he walked out of the meeting. My day was getting wonderful. On reaching the exit of AETHER, I saw Mira. She was shocked to see my appearance. I walked past her as though she didn’t even exist. On opening the door to my car. “Lyra, wait!” It was the investor who had left the meeting calling me. “Lyra, I’m really sorry about Eamon. For a while, I envied your relationship. I didn’t know he would treat you that way. To me, you are still the Luna of this pack, not that scumbag Mira. But if you need anything, here, take this card and give me a call.” I stretched out my hand and collected the business card. “Thank you very much, sir.” “Don’t worry, Lyra. I am here for you.” The investor’s name was Mr. Jerome. He wasn’t from our pack though he was the Alpha of the Moonshadow Pack. But our pack had settled their differences with them, and they both did business together. I saw a great opportunity from this. So I went to my car, heading home. But then I received a phone call. It was Mina, my best friend.Lyra’s POV Though I felt a bit frightened, I wasn’t leaving to make new friends; my core reason was to get what—or who—I needed to make Eamon’s life a living hell. Passing the pack's border, I reminded myself that I wouldn’t let anyone remind me of my past with Eamon, and I wasn’t going to let anyone know my past either. I heard steps coming from behind me. Staring back, it was the air hostess. “Do you need anything to drink, Lyra? We have a lot of different choices: red and white wine, champagne, fruit juice, and freshly brewed coffee,” she said warmly. I became silent for a moment, trying to question how she could have known my name since we had just met for the first time. “Any… anything,” I said, stammering. “Moët Champagne coming up!” she said before walking back to the galley. “But Mr. Jerome, how does she know I’m Lyra?” I said, staring at him in disbelief. “Oh c’mon, Lyra, everyone in the Moonshadow Pack knows you already,” he scoffed, shaking his head. “Wa
Lyra’s POVI knew I had to leave the pack. Every part of me knew that I couldn’t stay here another day. But where would I go? I had no family outside these walls, no plan, no safe haven. Then I remembered the business card. The one Mr. Jerome had slipped into my hand outside AETHER. I tried to remember where I had kept it but as I opened my car’s glove compartment. The card was still there, I felt relief, it looked as if it had been waiting for me all along. His name. His number. My only way out.I dialed.“Good morning, Mr. Jerome. It’s Lyra,” I said.“Lyra,” his voice came warm. “How are you doing?”“I’m… not so great.” I swallowed. “I need a favor.”“Go ahead,” he replied. “Ask me anything, and I’ll see what I can do.”I hesitated only a second before spitting it out. “I found out Eamon is the reason I can’t conceive. He drugged me.”“What?” Jerome snapped. “That scumbag drugged you and then divorced you? He’s got some guts.” His voice filled with fury.“I will have my revenge on h
Lyra’s POVI looked next to me, Mina wasn’t there.“Sleepyhead,” Mina said, coming from the living room with two glass cups of orange juice.“Mina I had the strangest dream last night,” I said, stretching out as I collected a glass.“C’mon, tell me. Did you see Eamon fall down from a cliff?” she scoffed, trying to tease me.“Actually… it’s worse,” I said, looking frightened. “In the dream, I was back at the packhouse, just after my mating ceremony. Eamon was pouring me a drink… but Dr. Sam was there too. He gave Eamon something some kind of vial. Eamon poured it into my drink before handing it to me. But I don't actually remember Eamon handing me a drink at the first place.”Mina’s smile dropped; she looked scared. “Lyra… that doesn’t sound like just a dream. Remember? We sat at the same table when Eamon gave you a glass of wine.”“But… how come I only remember Eamon and I dancing and the crowd clapping?” I said, staring into my glass.“Yes, Lyra. After the dance that night, we went t
Lyra’s POV“Lyra, where have you been? I’ve been calling since morning!” Mina’s voice came through the phone, tense with worry.“Mina… you won’t believe what happened…” I said quietly as I drove, my fingers squeezed against the steering wheel.“Eamon cheated on me with Mira, rejected me, and divorced me after he heard that…” I hesitated, I saw it shameful to tell her. Finally I spilled it, I said, “I’m barren, Mina. I can’t have a child.”“What?” Her voice broke with shock. “But Lyra, how…”“I’m so sorry, Lyra. That’s such a heavy thing to bear,” she said softly. “Whatever you need, I’ll be here. Always.”“Do you want to come over and talk about it?” she asked gently.“Thanks, Mina. You’re the only true friend I have.”That was exactly what I needed, a shoulder to lean on. Above all, I knew that going back to that house after the scene at the meeting would be a death sentence.I turned the car toward her house. When I reached her gate, I parked and stepped out. She opened the door bef

Lyra's POVSeeing the sadness on Dr. Sam's face, as he handed me the scan results, made me scared. I requested an ultrasound scan after more than 2 years of being married without a child. Stammering as I stared at the scan results, "Dr. Sam, what does this mean?..." "You've got to tell me this isn't correct... Please tell me it's a mistake.... It can't be, please Dr., please..." "I am really sorry, Luna...am..." "I'm sure I can still have children, doctor… my womb is fine, just like every other woman’s, right? I deserve that chance… every woman deserves to hold her own child, don’t they?" Mated to Eamon, the pack's Alpha, for 2 years now, we haven't had any child. Eamon manifested as my mate while I was 18 at the pack's mating ball, all the pack knew me, and they all hid their thoughts towards the fact that I haven't conceived yet. So Eamon suggested an ultrasound test, and to my greatest surprise, the test showed I could never conceive. I had so many dreams of that lit
