Seventeen.

Lana’s POV

Opening my eyes, his scent hits me first. I couldn’t tell if he was here or if he had been here recently. Either way, his scent was divine and I wanted more.

Taking in a deep breath, I could smell the other wolves too, the ones who kept guard over me. They stank, each and every one as vile as the next, yet through it all was his scent. Logan, my mate, the man who hated me.

“Awake?” His voice sends a shiver down my spine. I feel my body tense up, every inch of me clenched as I realise how close he is.

“Yes” I mutter quietly, keeping my eyes firmly locked on the stone ceiling. The way he made me feel was confusing and it was easier if I didn't look.

“Good, you can answer some questions.”

Questions? I was confused, I was certain he was here to kill me.

“Okay.” There was nowhere for me to go. Maybe it was better if I did answer him. Maybe he would go easy on me, he was my mate, even if he didn't want to be.

“How many have you killed?”
