Chapter Four

Alexander ran his hand through his hair for the millionth time. He had been feeling on edge lately. Everything little pisses him out. He had no idea why.

The full moon just passed. Usually, everyone feels stressed when the full moon is approaching but this time, he felt it in full waves.

'I better go for a run.' He thought. Although he went for a run two days back he didn't know the reason for his grumpy attitude.

"You're missing your mate." His wolf, Reon said to him in his head.

George could swear his wolf rolled his eyes at him. His wolf has been so whiny about getting their mate and he didn't like it. He wanted a mate, but he had given up the idea of a mate.

Most wolves get their mate at the ripe age of eighteen or nineteen. But at twenty-five, he's yet to get his. He had gone to most of the pack in hopes of meeting her there but all were void. Perhaps the moon goddess didn't pair him with one. Bless his luck.

"Shut up. I.dont.need.a.fucking.mate!" He hissed at his wolf and blocked him from talking to him further.

He couldn't believe he blocked his wolf for the second time today but he couldn't help it. Everything irritated him.

He looked at the mountain load of files stacked up on his desk waiting for his signature and approval and let out a long breath of air.

The work was getting much. His beta usually shares his work with him. But since his gamma isn't around, his beta had taken it upon himself to get his gamma's task done. And right now, he's left with so much work he could hardly breathe.

Simone, his Gamma had gone on a very important assignment outside of the pack. The assignment was so important he couldn't send anyone else. Simone was the only person he could trust with it.

His stomach growled from hunger. He realized he hadn't taken his breakfast and lunch and it was past four already.

He stood up from his leather mahogany chair towards his coffee machine which was situated at the left side of his office. At the side was a brown-colored door leading to a bathroom.

On the right side, was a shelf filled with books; business-related books, pack files, and information regarding the pack's treaties. Each book had a piece of detailed information about every member of his pack, dead or alive.

Adjacent to the shelf was a balcony overlooking the forest. It had a peaceful quality to it. But today, warriors were noisier. He didn't know why and paid no attention to it.

'Rogues.' he guessed. They just won't leave his pack alone.

He sat down back on his chair, his empty hand replaced with a steaming hot coffee; black, just the way he liked it.

He drank it in slow sips. Not that he cared for scalding his tongue anyway, he relaxed into the chair, staring into space. He thought about ways to deal with a rogue who'll be so unlucky to get caught today.

His peaceful moment was shattered when Isabelle barged into his office unannounced.

She was putting on a tight-fitted red gown that accentuated her curves and hips. She had the body of a goddess and she never failed to flaunt it around.

Her blonde hair fell in graceful waves around her shoulder as she sashayed towards Alexander, swinging her hips from side to side.

Seeing her, a low growl escaped Alexander's mouth. He was more than pissed seeing her. Before, he would welcome her with open arms and fill his lustful desires. But today wasn't one of those days.

"Alex, you didn't come last night. I waited till midnight, slept by two am hoping you'd come." She flickered her fake eyelashes at him, saying in a sickeningly sweet voice.

"Isabelle not now. I'm busy." Alexander brushed her off, focusing on the files on his desk.

She stood in front of Alexander's table. In one fluid motion, she unzipped her dress which fell in a heap by her legs.

Alexander smelt her arousal and looked up. What he saw made his face darken instantly.

In the past, he would have been pleased by what he saw and taken her right there on his office table or his couch. But today, he felt anger.

Isabelle didn't take the hint that he wasn't in the mood. She walked around the table, naked, her full boobs out on display bouncing with each step she took.

*Isabelle." Alexander warned. She ignored him again and continued walking towards him.

When she was within arms reach, she bent down with the intent of unbuckling Alexander's trousers. She found out he wasn't aroused which made shame consume her.

Was she no longer sexy in his eyes? She wondered. Or has he started seeing some other she-wolves? The last question made her burn in anger and hatred.

Alexander grabbed her hands, flinging her away. She stumbled on her heels as she crashed to the floor in a pathetic state.

Tears filled her eyes instantly. "You don't want me anymore? Didn't I satisfy you the last time? I promise I'll do better this time." She said, her words choked with tears.

She quickly stood up, ignoring the pain in her back. She walked up to him.

Alexander was unfeeling as he looked her up with disgust evident on his face. He didn't know if she was deaf or plain stupid. It was obvious he wasn't in the mood.

"Get out. Don't let me repeat myself." He said in a dangerously low tone which made her stop in her tracks.

She turned around, put on her clothes in haste, and walked out of the office in anger.

This was the first time Alexander had rejected her even after seeing her naked. In the past, he always gave in whenever he set eyes on her body. But today, she couldn't even make him hard.

She swore to get whoever she-wolf that had stolen Alexander from her. She would stop at nothing to get her. She believed Alexander was hers alone.

Alexander was beyond pissed now. After a few minutes of trying to concentrate, he gave up and decided to go for a run.

Pushing off his desk, he felt someone trying to get into his mind. He had blocked it earlier. He didn't want anyone disturbing him during work hours.

"Speak." He commanded when he opened up the mindlink.

"Alex, there's been a rogue attack. You need to come down to the Eastern border. There's something off about them." Aiden's voice traveled through the mind link.

Alexander could detect a hint of seriousness in his Beta's voice which was rare except if the situation called for it.

His hand hovered above the door knob on hearing the last statement.

"What's off?" He asked standing by the door his hands now in his pockets.

"I can't smell them and they've gotten stronger. George managed to hurt one of them, and we have it's blood here but it isn't like a normal blood. It's slippery to the touch."

A deep frown appeared on Alexander's face. There was only one explanation for that but he had to be sure.

"Anything else perculiar about them?" He asked.

"Well no, I mean yes. They are the triangle wolves. Apart from that, we couldn't find anything else." Aiden replied as he seemed to be racking his brains for any information he might have missed.

A murderous intent appeared on Alexander's face at the mention of the triangle wolves. He clenched his fist tight, his body tense as he tried to control his emotions.

After a while of silence from Alexander's end, Aiden became worried.

"Alex?"

"Alright, I'll be there soon." Alexander replied in a neutral tone, the opposite of what he felt.

With that, he cut off the link. He opened the door and headed toward the west wing of his mansion where a door led to the woods.

He shifted into his wolf and ran into the woods in a blur.
