Chapter forty two

Trying to move her hand, she realized she had been bound to something. And the beeping sound close to her ears, made her know she was in a different place.

She tried moving her index finger again and to her surprise, it moved even if it was only for a short time. Her back began to ache from the position she was lying on.

She knew she was not in Alexander's room. The bed he had was softer than the one she had been put in.

The indistinct sounds soon began clearer as she realized she was in the midst of people talking, or shouting.

"Don't you dare give me that!" The voice of a lady she didn't know snapped at someone.

Claire pitied the person who was at the receiving end of her wrath.

The owner of the vice had a very sharp voice which Claire couldn't fathom who would shout in the same room with her. Or Alexander.

With his scent which filled the room, Claire knew he was in the room with her. But why was he so quiet?

"Quiet Susan! You know you're at fault. If you can't be quiet then leave.
