Chapter FOUR

last update publish date: 2026-02-06 20:04:10

“Executive secretary lang ‘to.

“I’m here for the interview for the executive secretary position?”

“Oh,” sabi niya. “You’re Mrs. Von Vasilyev?”

Napakurap ako. “Ha?”

“Ah—sorry,” mabilis niyang bawi. “I mean… Ms. Sanchez.”

Tumango ako, kahit litong-lito na. “Yes. That’s me.”

“Please proceed to the conference room on the 15th floor,” sabi niya. “The interviewer is already waiting.”

“Do you know where the interviewer is?”

“Which one?” tanong ko.

“All of them,” sagot niya nang seryoso.

Napakunot ang noo ko. “All of them?”

“Opo,” tango niya. “I mean—uh—any conference room is fine. I’ll escort you.”

Wow.

“Good morning, Mrs—” bigla siyang huminto, tumingin sa papel, tapos ngumiti ulit. “Ms. Sanchez. Please have a seat.”

“So,” sabi ng HR interviewer, “why do you think you’re fit for the executive secretary role?”

Napaisip ako sandali.

“Well,” sabi ko, “I’m organized… sometimes. I can multitask kapag kailangan, pero kapag sabay-sabay, medyo nagpa-panic ako pero productive panic naman.”

Tumango siya. “Very good.”

"Ha?."

“And how do you handle pressure?”

“Honestly?” sagot ko. “I cry internally but act normal externally.”

“Excellent,” sabi niya habang nagsusulat.

"Wait—what?"

“And lastly,” sabi niya, “are you aware of who you’ll be working for?”

“Uh… the CEO?” sagot ko, alanganin.

She smiled wider. “Perfect.”

Tumayo siya agad. “Congratulations. You’re hired.”

Nanlaki ang mata ko. “H-Ha? Hindi pa po tapos ang interview?”

“It’s finished,” sagot niya nang masyadong mabilis. “Welcome to the company.”

“Still adorable,” bulong niya sa sarili niya.

“Good morning, Ms. Sanchez!”

“Welcome!”

“First day mo? Don’t worry, mababait kami… mostly.”

“This is the pantry, free coffee pero wag mong uubusin lahat or magagalit ang accounting,” sabi niya habang naglalakad kami.

“Noted,” sagot ko. “Traumatized na ako sa galit na tao.”

Tawanan sila, at feeling ko for the first time in a while, baka swerte nga ako.

Hanggang sa bigla niyang sinabi—

“Ah, by the way, the CEO will be coming later to meet you personally.”

Huminto ako sa paglakad. “Meet me… personally?”

“Oo,” sabi niya casually. “He likes meeting new hires.”

Tahimik.

Straight posture.

May nag-ayos ng buhok.

May nagbukas ng laptop kahit wala namang ginagawa.

“He’s here,” bulong ng isa.

“Disappointed?”

“So,” sabi niya, lumapit nang kaunti, “you leave without a word after what happened between us, and now you work for me.”

Tumango ako. “Technically, you hired me.”

“Still,” sagot niya, “you ran away.”

Ngumiti ulit ako, mas malapad. “Correction. I walked away quietly. Running is very unprofessional.”

“This will be interesting,” sabi niya.

Tumango ako. “Sabi nga nila, sir, never mix work and… bad life decisions.”

Nag-smirk siya, halatang pigil ang inis. “You haven’t changed.”

“Sadly,” sagot ko, “I upgraded. May ID na ako ngayon.”

May gustong tumawa. May gustong umiyak. May gustong mag-resign.

For the first time in what felt like forever, the Vasilyev estate had finally begun sounding like a home again instead of a place haunted by grief. The laughter returned slowly over the past few weeks, awkward at first, almost fragile, as though everyone inside the family feared happiness too much after learning how quickly it could disappear, but eventually even the fear softened enough for ordinary moments to exist again.Children ran freely through the hallways kahit na minsan ay nadadapa sila pero tatawa naman.Lora’s endless dramatic screaming became part of the daily background noise again kaya pwede na siyang ipalit sa speaker ng mama niyo.Ji Lian returned to looking mildly exhausted instead of genuinely worried every second of the day.And Dera, Dera started smiling without forcing it now not all the time and not perfectly. There were still nights when she woke up trembling after nightmares she never fully talked about, and there were still moments where her hands unconscious

  • I Am the CEO's Contracted Secretary (SPG)   Chapter NINETY FOUR

I used to think healing would feel dramatic.Like some big life-changing moment where suddenly everything stopped hurting, everybody magically moved on, and trauma respectfully packed its bags before leaving your life forever like a decent human being.Apparently, maling-mali pala ako.Because healing inside this family did not look graceful at all.It looked like burnt pancakes at eight in the morning. It looked like children screaming over imaginary dragons habang may harina sa buhok nila.It looked like Alex silently checking if Dera was tired every five minutes without realizing he was doing it.It looked like Dera pretending she was stronger than she really felt because she hated worrying everyone. And weirdly enough… it looked like me standing inside a destroyed kitchen while emotionally attached to people I never expected to love this much. Inom doon. Away dito. Flirt doo

  • I Am the CEO's Contracted Secretary (SPG)   Chapter NINETY THREE

There were moments in life talaga where napapaisip ako kung anong klaseng cosmic punishment ba ginawa ko sa past life ko para mapunta ako sa sitwasyon na ‘to.Kasi imagine this properly ha, I woke up one morning expecting peace, rest, emotional stability perhaps, tapos ang bumungad agad sa akin ay si Dion na tumatakbo sa hallway habang may takip ng kaldero sa ulo niya at sumisigaw ng.“PROTECTION MODE!”Behind him, tumatakbo si Deya hawak ang stuffed toy niya habang umiiyak dahil apparently “kinidnap” daw ng kuya niya si Mr. Bunny for “government interrogation.”And behind THEM?Si Alexion na mukhang pagod na pagod na sa buhay despite being seven years old.Honestly, that child was born with taxes emotionally.“Auntie Lora,” sabi niya habang hawak ang sentido niya na parang stressed corporate employee, “please tell them kidnapping is illegal.”Tinignan ko siya nang diretso.“Technically,” sabi ko habang umiinom ng iced coffee ko, “depends on the government.”Biglang tumahimik ang bat

The next morning began with screaming. Not dangerous screaming. Not traumatizing screaming.Just the normal kind of chaos that naturally followed children waking up with too much energy and absolutely no concern for the mental stability of the adults surrounding them.Specifically Dion had apparently decided at seven in the morning that the living room carpet was now “lava territory,” which somehow escalated into the triplets jumping across furniture while Lora aggressively supported the nonsense instead of stopping it like a responsible adult.“THE SOFA IS SAFE LAND!” she shouted dramatically while standing on a chair holding a bag of chips like a war survivor.Ji Lian entered the living room carrying coffee. Then stopped.Slowly blinked once. And sighed with the exhausted disappointment of a man who had already emotionally clocked out before breakfast.“What,” he asked calmly, “is happening?”Dion pointed seriously at the floor.“Death.”Ji Lian looked down at the perfectly normal c

  • I Am the CEO's Contracted Secretary (SPG)   Chapter NINETY ONE

The next few days passed more peacefully than anyone expected, although “peaceful” inside the Vasilyev household still involved constant yelling from Lora, Dion almost accidentally setting something on fire using a science kit he absolutely was not supposed to touch alone, and Alex nearly giving half the security staff collective anxiety because of how aggressively protective he remained around Dera after the hospital incident.Honestly, the entire mansion had become emotionally unstable together. But at least now… they were emotionally unstable while healing. And somehow that felt different. That afternoon, rain poured heavily outside the estate while thunder echoed softly across the darkened sky, creating the kind of weather that naturally made everyone lazy enough to stay indoors together instead of pretending to function like responsible adults. The triplets occupied the living room floor surrounded by blankets, toys, snacks, and enough crayons to financially damage an art store,

  • I Am the CEO's Contracted Secretary (SPG)   Chapter NINETY

The following morning arrived far quieter compared to the chaos of the previous days, and honestly, the silence itself felt unfamiliar inside the Vasilyev estate because this family somehow turned every ordinary moment into emotional warfare, accidental comedy, or dramatic arguments loud enough to concern innocent staff members nearby. But today…today felt softer.Calmer.The kind of peace that arrived only after surviving something terrible together.Sunlight filtered warmly through the enormous bedroom windows while Dera slowly woke up wrapped safely in Alex’s arms, and for a few quiet seconds she simply stayed there without moving because after weeks of hospital beds, fear, and exhaustion, waking up like this almost felt unreal to her.Alex was still asleep beside her, though even in sleep his arm remained securely around her waist like some unconscious part of him still feared she might disappear if he let go for too long.Dera smiled faintly at the sight.Honestly, she never imag
