PRESENT DAY
It was morning already. The longest night ever had passed. Nicole had imagined it wouldn't. The thunderstorm of the previous night had raged so much, it threatened to make her deaf. She had much more sensitive hearing than humans.
Angela had slept beside her to keep her company and safe. She was still sound asleep at a corner of the bed, as Nicole sat up on the bed.

It didn't take more than a few seconds before Nicole opened the door.
