Chapter 7

Rylan POV

I walked into my office with my beta, Xander, behind and sneered at the sight of Jack, the alpha of the mystic moon pack whose border is just a kilometer away from the pack.

"Hello, Rylan," he stated casually as I took my seat and flicked a glance at him. I growled and he chuckled.

"My bad, alpha Rylan," he corrected himself.

"The next time you address me with disrespect, I'm surely going to knock off your teeth and give it to your mates to feed on in place of meat," I threatened and I glanced at his fist on the table which he clenched. I bet he was upset now. I really would love to see him react so we can have a brawl then I'll surely rip off his head and fufil my long wish.

Jack was my late uncle's friend. He was a sly crook which I detested for always licking my uncle's ass and buttering him most times with his sweet poisonous mouth.

"Forgive my manners Rylan…alpha Rylan," Jack said and I smirked before staring at Xander standing few inches behind Jack.

"So, why do you want to see me, Jack?"

"I need your help." I furrowed my brows and cracked my knuckles.

"Some rogues are attacking my pack and they have joined forces with my rival, alpha Rex of Red Blood Pack. My guys keep pushing them back but they aren't backing off. I've loosed too many of my pack warriors."

"So what makes you think I can help you?"

"You're super capable of it," he flattered and I arched a brow.

"Ever since you killed Dax, you've been dreaded by most pack. You've reinforced your pack and it's one of the strongest pack with over 600 pack members and in a short span of time you've made 87 percent of them pack warriors. You've defeated 4 packs who tried to stood up against you. No one can dare to challenge you. You're up to none except of the alpha of the Ruby Blood Pack…Hayden." I groaned and flicked a glare at him before he cleared his throat, shuddering.

"I'm sorry if I upset you with my last words," he apologized.

"Don't utter that name in front of me and," I paused and narrowed my eyes. " Why don't you go to him and quest for help?"

"Um…I…I can't," he stammered and I sneered.

"Oh sure, you won't be able to. He's going to chop your head off the instant he sights you."

"So? Will you help me?"

"What will I get in return?"

"Er, I'll…"

"Anyways, am not going to," I paused as I felt the mindlink open.

"Say you would," Xander said through the mindlink. I darted my gaze to him and he nodded.

"He can be a bit helpful later so don't decline his request."

I glanced at Jack and sighed.

"I'll help you, Jack." I returned my gaze to Xander as Jack's lips curled into a loathful smile.

"I'm glad to know. What do you want in return…?"

"You've got nothing to offer me, Jack. So I don't need anything. And I don't want to get mixed up in your pack rivalries. I'll do what I can do for you as a favor for now, but just have it in the back of your mind that when I eventually need something from you, you will do it." Jack nodded.

"And don't you dare think of playing any silly games with me when that time comes."

"I certainly won't. Trust me." He held out his hand for a shake. "Deal."

"Xander will gather some of my guys to come over and watch your border. Tell your men to be expecting them by noon tomorrow. And if anyone from your pack messes with my guys…I'll make that person pay with his miserable live."

Jack nodded still stretching out his hand to me. I heard a knock on the the door and Beth, one of my gammas walked in after I ordered him to come in.

"You can leave now," I said to David not taking his hand and he arose and left.

"We're you caught by him?" I asked Beth as Xander sat down across the table after properly confirming that Jack wasn't eavesdropping.

"No. I was secretly watching him as you instructed and I think he sensed someone was watching him so he broke the kiss…"

"Kiss?"

"He was smooching a girl. I think it's his mate."

"So…finally he has found his mate." I smiled at Xander and laughed. "Quite interesting." I returned my gaze to Beth and motioned at the door. He bowed and left.

"So, what next?" Xander asked me and I inhaled. "Are you going to see him?"

I nodded." Tomorrow by 10am."

"Why?"

"He's likely expecting me so I shouldn't disappoint him."

"What if he's planning on killing you?"

"C'mon Xander. He won't dare."

"There's a chance since you're likely to be a future threat to him. I'll go with you…"

"No! I'll go there alone. And if really he's planning on killing me…I won't hesitate to snap out life from my attackers. It's been few days since I had a brawl."

"I'm here…"

I waved my hand."I want a real fight and I won't think on taking you on."

"You underestimate me quite much, Ry."

"Nah. I don't want to lose you, bruh."

Xander laughed and shrugged.

"Organize some warriors to go over to Jack's border." I stood up and headed for the door.

Getting to my room, I pulled off my shirt and tossed it to the bed then went to my bathroom. Stepping into the shower booth after slipping my trouser off, I switched on the light.

I turned on the shower and stepped on the water. I adjusted my shower head temperature, making it colder as the face of my brother flashed in my mind and I slammed the tiles with my hands.

I'm going to see Hayden tomorrow and that will mark the beginning of my revenge. I had waited for over six months, focusing on strengthening my pack and fighting off my cropping up rivals.

There was two people whose lives I was eagerly to put an end to; my greedy and despicable uncle, Dax and my best friend who turned out later to be my brother's killer and my foe. I've killed my uncle and taken over the pack as the new alpha two months ago and within this short time, I have acquired a lot of fame and taken down unbelievable rival packs who thought they could step on my head.

Now, I'm looking to end Hayden and make him pay for killing my younger brother.

The next morning, I pulled up my car at the driveway of the packhouse of the Ruby Blood Pack. It was a bit strange that the wolves guarding the border of the didn't told me to wait there so they could confirm from Hayden if he was expecting me but they just made way for me to drive in.

I got out of my car and walked straight into Hayden's office without knocking.

"Rylan," Hayden said, turning to face me for he was leaning against the window, looking out the second I stepped in. I guess he had seen me when I drove in which explains his unsurprising expression. I heard someone growling and I chuckled as I glanced above my shoulder with the corner of my eye at a guy behind me at the corner of the office by my left who I clearly remembered.

"Am I being cornered?" I asked Hayden. " Your courtesy is quite unremarkable."

"He's my beta," Hayden told me and I nodded.

"You can leave now, Skye," he ordered and Skye left after casting a suspicious look at me which made me grin as I hauled up a seat across the table and sat down without asking for Hayden's permission or waiting for him to tell me to.

"Welcome to my territory," he said with an air of pride mixed with a strong feeling which I clearly perceived but couldn't make out of. Anxiety or a bit of anger? Or fear of the unknown? I'm sure it's going to be one out of them.

"It's great. You've really been doing well since you become an alpha. Your dad must be proud of you, Hay."

"Hm. And…likewise your Dad," he pressed his lips to a pause. "And your brother too." I clenched my fists on my laps and chuckled.

"I received your gift few weeks ago…and the note…"

"It was nothing. Relax." I cut in, pulling up a happy face, feigning felicity.

He nodded. That's good. I don't like it when my prey knows fully well am coming after it. The game doesn't get interesting if the traum card is set out before the game starts.

"Congratulations. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your coronation weeks ago."

"It's fine."

"I heard of your unbelievable achievements. You've been victorious since you took over. That's great."

"Thank you. I'm honored," I said and gave a broadened smile before glancing at a photo at the edge of the table. It was a photo of us. I had remembered we took that photo a week before we parted. It was the last.

"You really haven't been doing bad either."

Maybe. So I heard you've been reinforcing your pack," he said, changing the topic.

"Yes," I flatly answered, drawing a circle on the table.

"Don't mind me asking, but…why?" I flicked a stare at him and shook my head. "Are you preparing for an upcoming war against a rival pack? Or is it about something personal?" I stopped drawing the circle.

"Just preparing them Incase any war pops out."

"That's quite…untrue."

"So, what do you think?"

"Nevermind. I'm just kidding," he said and sat down. I averted my gaze to the photo. Hayden noticed my stare and said.

"That was the last photo of us,pal."

"Yes."

"So…why have you come to visit me, Rylan?"

"I'm kinda free this morning so I decided to come check up on my old friend. It's actually been seven months since we last saw each other."

"So thoughtful of you. Um," Hayden paused and rubbed his nose. "You've gotten over it?"

"What?"

" Your brother, Joe's death?" I stared at him for some seconds before forcing a smile.

"What do you think?"

He ignored my question and said.

"Look, Ry, we need to talk seriously and…"

"Talk?" I asked with an arched brow.

"There's nothing to talk about. But just some things to do. I'm looking forward to them."

Hayden squinted. "What do you mean?"

"Ah, yes, found your mate?" I asked and his shoulder slumped. He stared at me a bit coldly now. "No?"

He nodded and I stood up.

"Okay then. I'm leaving now." I headed to the door but stopped when he stood up and asked.

"Are you coming after me now?"

I smirked and twirled.

"What do you mean, buddy?" He exhaled and looked away.

"You said you would on your note…you meant it."

"Nah. You think? I'm just glad you're happy to see me."

"You gave a threat on your note."

"A threat?" I chuckled and turned my expression blank. "Let's just see how it goes. My regards to Rayana and your mom." I smiled and left.
