Chapter 6

Hayden POV

Savoring the lips of Kathrina, I sensed someone was watching us,so, I unintentionally broke the good moment and darted my gaze to the forest where my hunch said someone was probably hiding behind a fig or fallen branch.

"What's wrong?" Ignoring Kathrina's question, I glanced around hoping to catch a glimpse of a figure, wondering who could be watching us.

I returned my gaze to her and inhaled deeply, trying to see if I could find out who the person was by figuring it's scent Webecause Aiden feels it's no human and so do I. It can't be Rayana trying to pull up a stunt now if maybe she already found out from Skye that I've found my mate but…

"Hayden," Kathrina called as she held my face, making me return my focus to her.

"Yes?"

"What's wrong? What are you thinking about?"

"Um…it's…nothing," I said and forced a smile. "I'm sorry if I had startled you by breaking off from our nice moment." I pecked her lips and she chuckled.

"It's okay, boyfriend," she said and we both laughed slightly.

"Let's go now. I'll take you home," I said and we got into the car and I drove to her place.

I halted when I reached her house and glanced at her brother standing at the top staircase to the porch.

"Should I walk you in?" I asked and she nodded.

"Let's catch up tomorrow. We'll have lunch together at school," she said.

"Okay. Goodnight. Call me before you sleep and if perhaps you were spanked by your mom for coming a bit late, then_" I placed my hand on hers resting on her laps."_ I will sing you a lullaby as a soother." She tittered and shook her head.

"You probably suck at singing. I'll surely call you before I sleep though."

I stared at Morley who was directly giving me a stern expression through the windscreen and squinted at Kathrina.

"Does your brother dislike me?" She furrowed her brows, glanced at him and chuckled.

"Just ignore him. Bye." She got down from the car and I stared at her as she walked up to her brother. I sensed he was waiting for me to leave before talking to Kathrina who was staring at him and I reversed and headed to the packhouse. What a guy.

"Did Rayana leave the packhouse today?" I asked Skye the very second I walked into the packhouse and caught a glimpse of him.

"No," he answered as we walked into my office. I took off my jacket and tossed it to the couch. "She was helping me out with the formal training today at school."

" Really?"

"Yes, we just had dinner with your mom and she's off to her room. Why ask by the way?" Skye said and I shook my head. I definitely knew it couldn't be my sister.

"I wonder what's wrong with her? "

"Pardon?"

"If she fucking doesn't want to school in lake Town then why enroll there? " I asked in bafflement as I slumped on my chair.

Skye chuckled. "She didn't want to go to school here and have your mother and aunt scolding her most times. She said she feels free like a bird schooling in Grace Hood High."

"She hasn't been coming to school for sometime now. It's been two months already and I'm pissed off when the teachers there, especially the principal keep asking about her. I just lied she was out of town."

"So?"

"Trust me, Skye, if I had known better, I wouldn't have enrolled her there with our surname. She's probably going to draw the curiosity of some people sooner than I expect then, boom! Our identity will be exposed."

"Don't worry. I talked to her earlier. She'll be resuming before the test week kicks on." I sighed.

"What's wrong? You seem disturbed."

"Someone is watching me, Skye," I said, arising.

"You got an idea who it might be?" I nodded. "Maybe it's a spy of our rival packs…"

"C'mon you know I don't stack the records of our rivals." Skye smirked.

"Maybe it's a foe of your dad."

"You know it's not true. But, now that I think of it more, I think it's…Rylan." Skye's brows furrowed.

"You think he has got someone watching you? You could have hunted the person down the moment you sensed you were being watched…"

"I was with my mate. Kathrina." Skye rolled his eyes and exhaled as I took my seat.

"So? What are you thinking about?"

"Hm?"

"Rylan. What do you think his first step would be against you?" Skye asked and I squinted. I really haven't been thinking much about Rylan these past few weeks. I was more focused on my mate and the pack.

"You think he will come after me?" I asked and Skye nodded.

"Though, I think you guys are likely to meet soon. Maybe here or…"

"It got to be here. I'll try to clear things out with him."

"Hayden…Rylan lost his brother and you know who was responsible for it." Skye paused, staring at me. "You think he will easily clear things out with you. He's no longer your friend. He's probably an enemy now thinking of how to get back at you and waiting for the right time. Just be prepared."

"You know he won't be able to take me down if he goes one on one with me," I said with a bit of imperiousness as I took a file on the table to go through it.

"I would advise…you don't look down on Rylan," Skye said, stopping me from going through the file and I darted my gaze to him.

"He's an alpha now. His strength can be equivalent to yours. And…if he has been really training non-stop these past few months, then there's a chance that he is quite stronger than you."

"Whatever," I said and shrugged.

"You should stop going to the town for now and stay back and put your while focus on the pack and training. You're greatly strong as an alpha but that doesn't mean you should stop training." He paused as I arched a brow at him feigning annoyance."Kathrina…"

"I can look after your mate for the time being. She's not going to be hounded by anyone…not even Rylan because I am sure he doesn't know you've found your mate."

"I doubt."

"But…"

"Dont worry. Nothing wrong will happen. I'll keep watching after my mate and the pack." I stood up and headed to the door.

"Tomorrow is Thursday," Skye said and I stopped, my hand on the door knob.

"Its pack runs tomorrow by 5pm. You'll be able to make it, right?"

I brushed my nose with my thumb and sighed.

"Maybe…"

"The pack would appreciate your presence. You've missed the pack runs the last two weeks even after shifting the time from 3pm to 5pm. "

"I'll try my best to make it. Just handle things with my aunt tomorrow. I'll surely meet up with you guys before the pack runs ends." With that, I walked out and headed to my room.
