CHAPTER EIGHT

CHAPTER EIGHT

I felt a surge of anger coarse through me as he immediately lifted me into his shoulder without even letting me make a decision on my own, is that how domineering he can be? I scoffed. Of course he is Alpha Lesley, I should even be surprised that he was being nice in the first place.

Despite my anger, I still felt a rush of relief knowing I was in safe hands.

I knew he was right, I couldn't keep going on my own, my limbs acted like they were would give way at anytime, and him offering his help even though it was unsolicited saved me from crashing down.

Aside the feeling of resentment that I had because he would not just let me make my own decisions, I mean staying alone in the forest for that long had taught me how to be independent and not wait on anybody to be my saviour. But I still had a strange feeling of gratitude and I had to admit that I was glad he was there. First he saved me from the forest, then he saved me from the trap and just when my legs were about to give up, he saved me by offering me his shoulder. Talk about a knight in shining armor.

I grudgingly clung to him as he carried me through the forest, feeling his hard broad shoulders against my hand.

He is quite fit. I thought, of course he is a warrior, a mighty Alpha got that matter.

I chided myself once again for finding his physical features alluring. Why would I feel that way about a stranger?

My eyes closed and I tried to focus on breathing Instead of allowing myself be carried away by this domineering man.

All the while, all through journey I felt his strong arms supporting me, and I knew I was safe in his arms.

It was already dawn by the time we arrived at the pack house, the pack members had started to go through all of their daily activities, the guards were already on guard at the entrances waiting to apprehend anything they felt as a threat. I could see that Alpha Lesley really had a strong security around his territory. Well... He isn't the most feared Alpha for nothing.

I felt a bit embarrassed as some of the pack members, even though they pretend not be watching, but they had their eyes all over me as Alpha Lesley carried me on his shoulder, making his way to the guest room where I had stayed the previous night.

I tried to shake of the thoughts, but their eyes seemed to be boring multiple holes inside of me. I knew for sure that they would be wondering who is this strange she wolf being carried by their Alpha.

Just as we progressed to the guest room, we were standing just in front of the guest room when I locked eyes with a girl standing at the entrance of a building exactly opposite the guest house.

It looked like she was going somewhere else but stopped immediately the moment she saw us.

She stood there, staring at us with her eyes narrowed and her lips pressed into a thin line.

I could have dismissed her stares as the same with the other pack members, but somehow I felt like there was more to it. Especially with the viciousness with which she stared at me, like she would kill me if she had the chance.

I was expecting him to finally drop me in front of the room since he had succeeded in bringing me back safely to the pack house, but the he held onto me still, and I did not even bother to make any attempt to come down.

I pushed away the thought of the she wolf who was giving me vicious stares as he gently opened the door with one hand and led me inside.

He walked to the edge of the bed with Mr still on his shoulder, and only then did he set me down gently on the bed.

"Get some rest." He murmured. "I would send someone over soon to have your wounds checked."

With that, he turned his back and started walking away.

There was a conflict of emotions inside of me as I saw his back turned to me, I felt empty but I had no idea why.

Most importantly, I felt grateful, and I knew it would be bad of me to not express my gratitude. But I didn't ask for his help anyways.

"Thanks...." I finally mumbled just when he got to the door.

He paused, with his hand still holding the door handle.

A thick blanket of silence spread over the room for the next few minutes, I watched his back which was turned to me, wondering why he suddenly stopped and why he was quiet.

After what seemed like forever, he slowly turned to face me so that I was able to look into his eyes. A flash of what happened in the forest shortly before the animal attacked us played in my head, causing the butterflies in my stomach to be awoken but then I brushed it off by shaking my head.

"I would be a really bad person if I had let you die in the forest." He finally spoke. "But that does not make me a good person either, you should be cautious around me because I could still be the one to hurt you."

My heart skipped at his last statement, I opened my mouth to talk but the words were not forth coming. So I just sat there with my lips parted.

"I would also send someone over with food, I don't want you starving to death before I am even able to do anything to you."

With that last word, he turned his back to me and finally made his way out of the room.

"Weird." I voiced, I could not help but wonder if this is how all powerful Alpha's behave.

I brushed his thoughts from my mind and started nursing my wounds, I did not think there was any need to have someone look at them since most of them were already starting to heal on their own, except the particular foot that was stuck in the trap. But I believed that it would finally heal with time.

"I'm so tired." I mumbled to myself and fell back on the bed.

I wad starting to dose off when I heard a soft knock on the door, my heart started to beat, thinking it was Alpha Lesley and I sat up immediately.

But then my face fell when the door opened, the figure standing in front of the door was a female figure, even though I could not make out the face yet.

She closed the door behind her and started walking towards me, when she got closer I was able to take in her facial features. My mouth hung open when I recognized her as the same girl that was standing outside earlier, she still had that vicious look on her face as she stood in front of me, even though she tried to conceal it with a fake smile.
