Chapter 8: Glittery Trouble.

Elizabeth’s POV

I think I just made the biggest mistake of my life, ever getting involved with those shady people. As the car accelerates away, Angie quickly grabs my arm, spinning on her heels and pulling me into the house. We race up the stairs and she slams her bedroom door shut, pensively moving to check out the windows and pulling the curtains.

I know she’s been on tenterhooks ever since that hunk of a man showed up and oh, she had tried to warn me of something back then. Angie leaves the window, sucking in a deep breath as her pale features begin to brighten a little.

“Angie, what was that back there? You looked afraid of something and you made mention of that man being a Mafia something...” I begin to say, trying to recall what the last word she said was when she suddenly comes clasping my hands in her trembling ones.
